Had the kraken for a couple of years and just got the ceres after watching your videos, haven't tried through loud rig yet but high gain is amazing, also wins on functionality because it has a passable clean channel and doesn't require special power. In general sound wise, Ceres is more "tight detuned modern" and "nu" sounding than the Kraken which is "classic modern high gain". Ceres really likes boosts in front of both channels, rhythm and lead don't clean up with volume, really . Kraken Green can be almost clean or boosted for a high gain marshall sound and the Red is good as is without boost. Both are awesome and I'm keeping both. :)
Gotta get the Tight Metal in on this action! I've always preferred the Ceres in all your shootouts, but the Kraken is sounding very good here. Might be something about the poweramp that jives with it. My Ceres GAS has been wiped out by the HX Stomp, but more videos like this is gonna bring it roaring back.
I have a Ceres and recently got an HX Stomp and now I run it in the fx loop of the stomp with an IR and it sounds even more brutal now! You definitely won’t regret getting a Ceres at all!
Thank you for this! Love your channel, you beautiful hunk of a man! 😊 But I gotta ask; are you using an in room mic? It's kinda hard to hear the crackling of the kraken 😉
I've used the electro Harmonix pedal power amps (44 Magnum) but not in a true live situation. It SEEMED fine, but things can get weird at super high volume. I'm a KSR pa50 user now, bit of course they are pricey
@@PariahVSGear wayward son is the theme song... We'll tbh it's not used very often in the show but in my head it goes hand in hand lol love the show and need to rewatch it at some point tbh... Got back into reading books at the mo though
hello , can you answer me pls, can I use it with mooer radar cab sim ? chain like guitar>tube screamer>kraken>mooer radar>soundcard ? i am just wondering, there is no video with chain like this. thanks in advance.
I wish you guys doing these demos wouldn't always do it in some drop tuning. It would be nice if once in a while y'all played a regular, 6 string in E standard tuning through whatever you're testing cuz not everyone has a 7 string or plays in drop C tuning. Please...
Hey man. I haven't done any guitar stuff in a while, but I always thought comments like this were interesting. So you know: - I started playing 7 strings because I didn't like the idea of down tuning. - I am only tuned half a step down. I GUARANTEE if you like rock and metal, some of your favorite players play in this tuning. I literally just have an extra string. - I even play a decent amount of "classic" metal riffs. Ultimately, this is why there are lots of people doing this. Watch the people who you identify with. But I think you are a little off in your response to what I do anyway.
Maybe to you haha. And if it does, great! I personally think the ceres sounds a little better at most settings, but both are great. It's really about personal preference between these bad boys haha
Still one of the best channel for preamps comparison
I appreciate that! I've got a bit of a non surprise coming for y'all in regards to that haha
Couldn't agree more!
Both pedals are running into my KSR PA50 (6L6 Tubes), out into my PRS MT15 1x12 (SM57/58) and Mission KM212p(SE Electronics ribbon Mic)
The real winner here is that meaty cabinet. Always a nice subtle layer of dynamic mic fizz over it too. Great stuff!
Thanks bud!
Man your videos are so great! I recently got an 8 string and everytime I need an opinion, you pop up! Keep killin it!
Thanks brother! Hope you enjoy your 8!
That KSR is just pure brootz 🤘Great shootout brother!

If you had to choose one for deathmetal which would you?
@@ericdoherty9562 probably the kraken, death is more dirty classic high gain to me. Ceres is all about tight.
@@MichaelBogomolny so the kraken has enough gain you think?
@@ericdoherty5976 it has plenty. You can always smash it with metalzone if not enough)
So you didn’t boost the kraken correct
PvG! Man you really can’t go wrong with either pedal. Awesome Riffages!
Do you think the PA50 is a incontournable piece of gear for get the better of the Ceres?
I think the ceres is at its best going through a tube power amp, and that the PA50 is a great option for that!
Both sound good! I just ordered a V4 Jack- Stoked! If i like it im probably gettin a Kraken too

I appreciate it! I do try haha
Broooo that’s a beautiful guitar. Also mass props on that mustache, great lookin duster!
These are great pedals. I think they still lack a little compared to real amps. Good video - thanks!

Hey dude! Pretty sure it's just whatever mic's I'm using on the cab here haha.
@@PariahVSGear Ok. It just sounds a bit muffled. But thanks for the video. Appreciate it 😊
3:26 you cheeky m8, I see what you did there
Lol 😂 no no no
What do you think they compare to the ISP Theta?I have been looking for those but I have a theta and like it so much...
My third place pedal is probably the theta. I'll whip it out for a comparison soon
@@PariahVSGear Hey man have you decided which pedal are you going to send for the riff contest?
Hey dude, email me at pariahvsgear@gmail.com!

@@PariahVSGear thanks ✊🏻
Is the ceres still king or does the kraken win considering the fact theres tubes in there.
Ceres is still my personal preference, but not by a HUGE margin haha
Is the kraken more noisy at the same gain levels and can you get the same lower gain sounds out of both?
Neither are too noisy, particularly if you use a gate.
I prefer the very low gain crunch sounds of the kraken.

Easily the Ceres. Probably a vesta if you think you want something like the diezel pedal.
