Some of you have pointed out that these are already in the country - while that is true, to clarify, the M91 has been cleared for importation and has been imported, but the last batch of any significance was 2019. Zastava USA is working on getting more in ASAP, but there's no firm date yet.

Serb here. The man in the video is Zastava Arms' chief constructor, an engineer by profession, Mr. Danko Cvetic. He is THE BEST. In 2019 I met him at a hunting exhibition in my hometown in Serbia and spend close to an hour talking with him (mostly listening) about firearms. I got to learn much about the current development projects in Zastava Arms, especially for the military market. Finally, since I told him that I'm interested in one specific model, Mr. Danko Cvetic gave me his phone number and personally made sure that I get a Zastava PAP G semi-auto carbine (AKM variant), which was at the time made only for export. Needles to say that it was mine in a matter of weeks. Mr. Danko, thank you!

Somewhere in a forgotten abyss at my parents house, my Father has some 54R spam cans that he purchased back in the 90's for a ridiculously low price. Prices that would surely start a riot if I dared to post them publicly.
Back then my Father was considering a PSL and/or Dragunov which could be had for roughly $1800. He nearly squeezed the trigger on both models at the Crossroads of the West gun show back in 1996(?) but decided to finish walking the show before making a final decision.
Unfortunately or fortunately (depending on your personal view), he found something even more coveted than the PSL/Dragunov. It was his unicorn - the M1941 Johnson.
Which, by the way, is _still_ his most prized possession out of his entire collection. At one point he had every single variant of the M1 Garand and yet his M1941 Johnson remained and still holds its place as his favorite acquisition.
I still plan on picking up _something_ chambered in 7.62x54R however the options are extremely limited nowadays. Not only because of availability but the cost as well. Many of us continually suffer from the "should've, could've and would've" syndrome.
But alas, hindsight is always 20/20.
    Stay classy my friends.

      @@TFBTVShowTime Indeed.
It now sits at the number nine spot on my list of [imported] acquisitions. Let us hope that Zastava will make the effort to bring them here to the US market. Which, if anyone is unfamiliar with the international weapons trade, is no easy task.
If I had to take an educated guess, I surmise that the overall cost will be approximately $3000 give or take a few hundred. Nevertheless, I will be sure to let you know when and if one of these M91's should make it into my possession.
      Stay classy my friends.

A few things of why I steer clear of SVD type rifles in the United States:
    1. Prices are absurdly inflated. Romanian PSL's should never be as expensive as they are currently.
    2. Really no plans of manufactures importing these type of rifles into the states, and it's going to be harder now since the whole "muh Russia bad" conflict until some other manufacturer takes over.
    3. For the price you finally pay for even a PSL, you might as well buy a cheaper semi automatic with better specifications and build quality.
This is coming from someone who absolutely loves the SVD pattern style of DMRs. If you are willing to shell out 3-5k for a SVD styled DMR then more power to you. However, it just makes it harder for the common man to ever experience a rifle that I would love to have in my collection one day. This is where the gun community loses me when they support inflated prices and what is terrible business practices.

Well yeah, when you don't have people slaving away making parts and the Russian federation decided to invade a sovereign nation.
Importing anything in general to the USA is a bitch. They ban certain cheeses cause of molds, and if Europe is saying it is fine, then it is probably fine.

Totally agree. No one should pay 3.5k for a PSL. I bought a Vepr 54R before the ban for less than $800 and it shoots as well as any SVD.

One very well known individual had to have very expensive gunsmith tuning to get his to where it would shoot below 3 MOA.

I got one of these last week and its really sweet, super high quality and the action is extreamly smooth on mine, only thing that makes me sad is that mine didnt have the night sight cuts on the front base, i know some did and i had a set of m70 with tritium vials i replaced just for this gun.
I thought they all came with night sight cuts but i guess mine was from a different batch.

I’ve looked into these but can’t justify the price. With the majority of ammo being banned from importation (I know PPU still makes a brass cased version), plus the availability of more consistently accurate calibers it’s more of a novelty.

    • @benningsniper9516

Agreed. One in .308 would be cool, but considering you're into OBR or DD range, it's just not worth it.
Not to mention the absolutely stellar build you could put together for the same money.

A nice and tight video Mr.James.Keep them coming. Now that was a dude trying to sell his product. For a moment I thought I was listening to a gunsmith from the Kheibar Pass. His presentation could have been better had he had some charts and a laser pointer. I did not hear the price. They should have put a large piece with the price written attached to the rifle. Do they sell it with a complementary riflescope? That would be a nice touch. How can the price of a stamped steel rifle be as the price of a machined steel rifle? Was it 3D printed or something like that?
