- A great multispecies day on the ice with my friend @JaggedToothTackle. After having no luck all morning at a different lake we decided to pack it up and try somewhere else. That decision payed off!

NDYakAngler is the last great fishing youtuber left. Everything this guy puts on the internet is completely raw and untouched. He's just a guy who showcases his fishing trips, no matter the catch, and that's why everyone likes him. I think people are sick of the Googan-types everywhere who take the fun out of fishing. Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to this channel for being great and one of my favorites. Never sell out and never change your vids, dude.
The googan type of fishing sucks lol ndyakangler is a good humble fishermen
So true, watching bigger channels is just a long ass infomercial.
There’s a few left still putting out just good regular fishing videos. Richard gene the fish machine is great, older guy and cracks me up, River certified, pigpatrol (Josh), fishnmore outdoors- (younger guy and kinda goofy but also cracks me up), kayak catfish.
I agree...good stuff
Wow. It hasn't even been below freezing more than a couple times here in Ohio yet. My neighbors are still mowing their yards once a week!
They are killing the grass
I’m from Sandusky and just moved to Georgia not even a week so far and I’m already home sick missing the walleye shore bite
Same in Buffalo N.Y havent even had any skim ice yet. But thats ok. Im getting some nice perch from shore.
Still getting to 80+ here in South Georgia 😂

Love how supportive you guys are of one another. That’s what fishing partners are all about. Great job guys!!!
Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.
I'm in Texas lol we hardly get snow, let alone a deep freeze! Its awesome watching places that have actual seasons. I never thought about or watched an ice fishing video but this was very cool.
That first perch, when you said, "I think I'll keep a few." Lowered its fins in defeat.
Once again, Matt, I want to thank you for opening my eyes. I've tried ice fishing here in Maine a couple of times. I froze my ass off, caught next to nothing, and decided that all ice-fishing enthusiasts need a change in meds. But you and Jake (I'm already a Jagged Tooth fan) fished a highly productive lake, on a windless day, with a lot of interesting equipment that I've never even heard of. Most important, you had a LOT of fun, which has always been the focus and theme of your channel. Thanks, as always, for sharing that fun with us. Best, Chris
That looks so peaceful. I miss icefishing already, and I've only lived in the south for a few months...
Looks like you two guys had a blast. Good day of ice fishing, awesome video Matt.
I’m from Alabama originally and a saltwater all year fishermen and I’m in Wisconsin now and excited to try my first ice fishing trip this year, we’re still pre-ice in my area but just barely. I’m more excited to try it after seeing this video, maybe when I can get back to work I can get some proper gear but I got a hand drill and some ice rods so hopefully it’ll be Fish ON.
That should be about all you need! I used a hand auger for several years and they’re fine for ice under 8”. We usually get 2-3’ by mid winter here so I had to upgrade to something powered.
@@ndyakangler thanks for the reply, I actually bought it thinking it was a garden post auger because I wasn’t in an ice fishing frame of mind when I first moved up here and saw it at goodwill and it wasn’t until I went to use it and saw Eskimo written on the side I thought maybe it had a better purpose ;) I’ll be putting a video up either way good or bad so I can remember where my ice fishing journey started ;). Thanks again really enjoy your channel
Huge fan of perch and panfish through the ice, Matt! Hope that fish fry treats you right.
He's teasing Me were I live this time of year I should already have fisheble ice but we ain't even got any forming on the edge of the lake. It's not even a big lake just 74 archers.
For a guy that’s spent his entire life living on the gulf coast, I’m a little jealous of being able to just toss your fish on the ice and not having to worry about an ice chest.
You can even make a sort of ice chest by drilling a “box” into the ice by just drilling multiple connecting holes without going through the ice. Just drill a normal hole near it and pump the auger up and down to fill the box with water, then you got yourself a makeshift ice chest, really handy if you’re keeping several fish
I remember ice fishing with my Dad when I was a kid. Always a great time. Haven't had any decent ice here in southern NJ on the lakes in years to do any ice fishing. Might have to move north. lol Thanks for posting the video. Brought back some fond memories. Stay safe, and Merry Christmas!
I've never been ice fishing, but that looks awesome! Great video
Try it out man, super fun and kinda zen
It is an acquired taste, but the taste is supreme; especially when *the fish are on/you're with good friends* and at the same time you have:
1] the beautiful sunny days where you can fish in semi-light clothing, and;
2] when dusks skyline looks like a painting, only to be followed by;
3] a sky filled with so many stars that you think you're looking at the entire universe; "God is in His heaven."
You couldn't paint a better sunset than what you and Jake had. Man I love a good mixed bag lake for first ice. Thanks for taking us along brother. Merry Christmas to you and your family Matt.
That was a BEAST of a white bass!!! Sweet!!
That pink sun set reflecting off the ice is beautiful
Thought we were gonna get some good ice and then it warmed up again. Idk if we're ice fishing this year in Wisconsin
Jersey is up next this is our last day with nights above 35deg starting tomorrow 19F at night with a high of 30 so we’ll see how’s it goes great job !!!! Yakmaster
What a great day you had! I've never been ice fishing but I hope to attempt to this year as well as catch my first ever crappie.
Thanks for the videos, Matt. Keep bringing the gold.
Did you make it out on the hard water yet? Truly a fun experience.
@@halfassranch8363 I have not
@@spideymcgee4718 aww dude get out there and get after it. I started out with a spud bar breaking out old holes 🕳 and antique poles/tip ups.
Bought some new gear as I went and could.
@@halfassranch8363 it’s hard with all of these darn kids I have haha. Luckily I have a good women and she wants me to get out and do it. Problem is I don’t live close to waters with natural trout, let alone larger bodies of water. It’ll have to happen next ice season. I just cant wait for April so I can go fishing for stocked trout again.
Guy u Rock!!! What blows my mind is every time u fish there is NO ONE ANYWHERE !!!! Over here in New England I can't hit any of my spots without running into other anglers ... That's it , I'm Moving to ND !!! 😏
That is something I have NEVER done! Its fascinating. Down here in Alabama, it never gets cold enough for ice fishing Great video, Matt, you never disappoint!
Still waiting on ice in my neck of the woods so living through you guys atm haha. Great video, glad to see your back!
What a smorgasbord of fillets today. One awesome fish fry guys. ✌️😎
Everything is biting except the skeeters, which is a good thing LOL.
sick dude! went out for the first time this season in New Hampshire got on to the brookies early morning bite caught about a 2.5-3 pound best
I enjoy all your videos, but especially this one. Thanks for bringing us along. Beautiful sunset. I’ve always wanted to ice fish but we don’t really get a chance here in Maryland.
Beautiful evening on the hard water. Nice variety too.
Open water in streams in NY, steelhead fishing going strong
Love Perch, the best eating!
That frying Pan tip up is cool! 😎
Are perch best eating because they have less bones?
@@Maxim.Teleguz,
No, same amount of bones, most people fillet them.
Walleyes are really good too. That White Bass would have went home with me!
Somehow I’ve lived in MN and WI my whole life and have never been ice fishing. This years weather doesn’t help one bit 😂
Looks like your at Jamestown Reservoir... caught many a fish there!!!
Love Jagged Tooth Tackle. Only place I have been able to find good barbless treble hooks in big sizes.
Over in upstate NY the lakes and ponds only have a thin layer of ice on them
Love your content, please do a reel and rod arsenal for the boyzzz
Last year every time you put a line down something would eat it right away lolollol
I took my girlfriend back to this spot last night and the hour after sunset I could barely keep my lines down! We ended up catching a limit of crappie.
I won't have safe ice here for another few weeks at least! Merry Christmas bud, hoping you and the family are well from the BOQ
The real fishing show . You go everywhere . Many UA-camrs hit the golf course ponds where shooting ducks in a barrel. You go everywhere . Real fisherman . Admire this channel .
You and your friend were taking a bunch of photos with the phone and from an editing standpoint, it could be nice to see the hi res photo in the video edit right after you take it; no doubt some of those photos are great. Show us!
Little sunset white bass😂 this was awesome! Looked like a great day
And 4 weeks with no upload was definitely worth it because at least I get to watch people ice fish
Lots of fun. Stay safe. Thanks for sharing
Welcome back ice fishing!
Thank you for taking the time putting the video together and sharing!
Awesome video! I just inherited some antique ice fishing gear. Ice never gets thick enough here in VA to go ice fishing. ND sure looks beautiful. Love your channel.
It’s below zero here in northern Michigan today . Makin ice and drilling holes .
Cool thing about the great lakes from the Detroit river lake st Clair to the Saginaw river Bay system it all connects to Canada
I can't just walk to a "flag up". I have to run. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's the crazy excitement/anticipation. Perch and walleye through the ice is the best. Nice video.
The lakes are freezing up solid out here in Utah, heading out this week. This video gets me excited!
Nice variety of fish. Super.
You guys had a good multi- species day for sure. Nice job guys!👍
I love your videos man!! Keep up the fishing! Wish me luck Ice fishing this year I have never caught a walleye and, I live in Minnesota lol.
Love fishing this body of water always a great variety off fish
😀👌👍👍👍💥I could feel that cold temperature from here!! Great Video!!
Great fishing, good catch. The good news is that the guys took the catch home for food ... What could be better than freshly caught fried fish ..? 😁
IT'S FINALLY HERE!!
I've been waiting all summer for this!
Nothing like handing off your phone to your fishing buddy for that perfect picture
Nice walleye!
Nice fish fry there!!!
amazing how much ice you've got. we haven't even had a good freeze yet. s.w. lower mich.
We’ve had some good cold weather the last few days too. Another week or two and there will probably be people driving vehicles out.
That is amazing. I live in CT and ice fishing is out of the question here. Great day and fish on.
I haven’t had a bite in a month since the cold arrived. Then I see this free for all.
Once I figured out that you are using Umpqua forceps, I ordered some and LOVE them. The large loops fit my fingers easily and comfortably.
WALLEYE are so good eating!
Cheers from Norway ! Great catch
Man I've been waiting it seems like forever for another upload
This type of fishing reminds me of when I first found your channel. It was you ice fishing. Good times!
Your buddy sounds so enthusiastic to be fishing. He’s seems like a nice guy to fish with.
Good job guys, nice session !
Man idk how anyone can live in a place where it actually gets cold enough that it snows and the sun sets at 4:30! So strange! But I do like your channel!!
Beautiful yellow perchs ! here in europe they are greyish. Didn't knew this other species existed
The full arm extension pic 😂😂😂
It's sure come a long way from the old fashioned tip ups. Good stuff 👍, eat well.merry Christmas.
The rattle bait he was jigging was pulling fish into his dead stick setups. Personally I prefer to have my tip ups two to four feet up off the bottom and then pull something loud when it's featureless
Nice perch!!!
This is such a tease here in ma we got jack for ice
White bass are good eating especially in the winter
We've only dropped below freezing freezing twice overnight in the last month and had snow once. And then only a couple of inches. It looks like another poor excuse for winter in Yorkshire. It's good to see you out fishing again. It must be tough staying warm in those temperatures.
Our last bad winter was 2010. Going to work in -16°C was tough on the toes.
Would be awesome to get action like that up here. Dang.
To catch bluegill you need to use wax worms. To catch perch you need to use little minnows and wax worms. To catch Northern and bass you need shiners
Great stuff, Matt. Nice mess of fish.
Man I’m in CO and it hasn’t snowed a lick. Today is Christmas Eve and it rained. Rained not snowed. Would love to go slam some through the ice but we’re still boating with no expectation of snow in sight
Beautiful scenery 👌 😍
im soooooo jealous that you can be out there ice fishin like that...
wish i could be :( ...
great stuff mang... looks like a hella good time :D
Matt, the sunset was fantastic. Great fishing action, too. Merry Christmas, Brother! Thanks for the blessing of great fishing content all year!
that walleye is hilarious
Love the ice vids! Keep it up!!!
This is great information and thanks for sharing.
Great to see you're at it and posting again. I hope you had a great Christmas and you have a great New Year.
It would be sweet if I can hit the ice with you guys one time!
Watchin from Ontario. Always look forward to your videos!!
Good to see you post. 👍
Awesome video! Your friend seems cool too! I started fishing the whopper plopper after watching your channel, so thanks! 🙏
Sitting here drooling thinking about those perch filets. Great vid 😁👍🌿
That walleye has to be a State record fish.
ive been waiting for this video. the one last year fishing tip up for bass and pike was SICK.
We fished that spot once this year but it was mostly dinky little pike there. I might have to give it at least one more try!
That was awesome keep up the great fishing videos!
Nice work 👏
Good stuff!
Merry Christmas!
Is this a lake that you also film yourself fishing in your kayak? If so, I thought it might be cool to add in a small segment from a video of you in the same spot in your kayak.
