First, we must understand that the Lord only wants the best for each one of us. It is the will of God that all men be saved. The problem is not God. The problem is that we are born in sin and shappened by it. When God allows afliction, He is usually trying to get our attention. It is possible that we are doing something wrong ;
And the Lord requires obedience. If you have children, you are aware that if you see one of them headed down the wrong path. You would certainly intervene. It is no different for God's children.
Read : 2 Corinthians 1:5 -10 for encouragement.
Paul and Silas believed that their lives were about to come to an end.
Paul goes on to say that it all was happening to make them rely on God and not themselves.
May the Lord shine His countenance upon you and give you peace.
