Glad you like it... After playing mine for a bit, I decided to get new tuners, and it really made a difference! It stays in tune better and also is more precise... I got KAISH 3+3 Locking Tuners 21:1 w/ Vintage Keystone Nylon Buttons... They look awesome! They were about $33 from AliExpress. Thanks for watching!
Finally! I’ve been eyeing that guitar man! You’re the only review! Give your honest opinion! I’m chomping at the bit on this one because it’s hard to find a LP with a maple neck! They are like Unicorns!
Yes, that is correct! It's the reason I bought that one... Everything on it is really nice. Fit and finish is awesome on the one I got... I did eventually change out the tuners for a better set. The ones that I put on had the nylon buttons. I got them on AliExpress: KAISH 3+3 Locking Tuners 21:1 w/ Vintage Keystone Handle for USA LP. They made an awesome upgrade for around $30, but the originals weren't bad, just wanted a little better ratio. The pickups sound great! Thanks for watching!!!
Hi Rex, I am really glad you're enjoying this. I need all the support I can get... I had to replace the tuners on this Firefly model, and I put Kaish locking tuners on it with the nylon/acrylic tuning peg buttons... They look incredible and now all the issues have been solved... They ended up costing me another $25 (+ or -), but it was well worth it...
It seems to be a hearty model... I actually went to some modifications and did a second video on this one... I replaced the pickups and electronics as well as the machine heads... It's a beauty with the mods... even better than before... It's my only LP style guitar and only one of two instruments I own with a tune-o-matic bridge. Thanks for watching!
Cool!!! This guitar has been really good. The quality of Firefly guitars has really amazed me. I have one of their relic ST models in total make-over mode. Once complete that gonna be a fun video to share... Thanks for watching!!!
Greetings and thanks for watching! I have been checking the Guitars Garden site for a while and they've been sold out of a lot of their models... I hope they get their stock back up, because I'm ready to buy another one! Cheers!
Yes, they seem to have a design that appeals to everyone. Some of them are really out there in appearance, but then they have other ones that are quite conservative. Whoever it is that wants a good guitar at a great price, Firefly seems to have it going on... Thanks for watching!
That's a really nice feature that sets Firefly apart... Many of their models have build-features that are usually only found in upper-level instruments. Commendable, I think! They've really made an impact on the guitar industry... It's been time for a disrupter like Firefly to emerge! Thanks for watching!
This guitar doesn't feel heavy, but it weighs in at just under 9LBS. However, I think that due to the contours, it just feels lighter and more manageable and easier to wield than you would expect. I got one of Firefly's S-style guitars a few months ago and that one actually FELT heavy, but may have been lighter than this LP-style guitar... The body and neck are mahogany, and that's a denser wood. The top is ash, also a heavier wood... Thanks for the question!
I don't know how to accurately answer that one Derek... It's because I don't know the differences in LP Style guitars from that era. But I can say that it isn't a real think neck... It's a little fuller in your hand than a Fender guitar, but not overly so... It's nice... Not a baseball bat... Hope that helps? Thanks for watching!!!
Thanks Ray. Great review. I have been thinking about getting one of these for awhile. What is the neck carve like? I know it is subjective but is it thicker like a 50s style or more 60s? Just curious. Any new thoughts on it since this video came out?
Hi Jason! This one has a relatively slim neck compared to the ones with the baseball bat neck of the 50's. I like it, and I usually favor Strats and Teles over anything else. If I can find comfort in it as a LP style guitar, it's probably slim enough for anyone... As an after-thought, I did replace the tuners. The ones that came on it didn't seem to be doing the job. They were slipping and creaking a bit... I got a set from Kaish that had the nylon keys, and they look and feels so nice now!
This is pretty nice, most at that price point won’t have the carved top. I just did a review of an Irin that was no where near as good as this one. Thanks for giving me even more GAS🤣
@@RaymondLandis Have you gotten your hands on a Tease Guitar yet? I just did a review, nowhere as accomplished as you. But I was blown away how good it was for only $144 U.S.
@@SearchingForTone I haven't heard of that company yet... But as we are seeing more and more, there are companies popping up everywhere that are offering decent instruments at affordable prices... Interestingly, Firefly is really rising and becoming a respected brand...
@@RaymondLandis I have had my eyes on Firefly for awhile but other options keep presenting themselves Amazon Prime🤦🏻♂️Day, but I need to get my hands on one
@AbigailAquino-kv6dz Yes, this is definitely a gem. I just ordered another Firefly that should arrive Friday! I'm just amazed at what this company is doing to the guitar market! It's almost unbelievable! But it's true... thanks for watching!
Hello Frank! Thanks for that question... I didn't weigh it previously. I only guessed that it may have been around 9LBS. I actually weighs-in at exactly 8.8LBS. Close to what I thought...Thanks for watching!
Hey...Thanks so much for the weight info. I'm an old timer with heavy Jazzmasters always on the lookout for gear that's a bit lighter. Enjoyed your review, it's a beauty! Make great music!
@xa.j.x These models are available from guitarsgarden.com but they're always rotating their styles... check out their site for specific availability. Upgrade and replacement parts are easily accessible from Amazon, Ebay, and Ali Express...Generic parts usually fit these instruments too... thanks for watching!
Yes the pickups actually sound really nice... After having it for a while, I decided to make a few modifications. The switching seems to be off a little, so while I change out the wiring and pots, I'm going to put in some uncovered zebra pups and see how that goes... The tuners I replaced are really nice now too... I may have to do another video to show all the changes... Nevertheless, these Firefly guitars have really good bones!!! Thanks for watching!!!
Greetings! That's a blast from the past! I actually had one of those Hondo II LP models in 1977-78. It wasn't much to speak of, and I began working on my dad to buy me a Fender Stratocaster not long afterwards. He did, and I played the Strat for years. That Hondo II was horrible... I may have been able to get it playing better if I knew then what I knew now, but that didn't happen. On the contrary, this Firefly is really a nice instrument. I think is gives us the option to have an LP type of guitar without the big price-tag. Not a Gibson, but it works for me playing at home. I'd even play this one out somewhere, it's really that good! Thanks for watching!
Yeah, this one seems to have been pretty close from the box... I did change the tuners since placing this video. I did that because the stock tuners didn't seem to be doing the job well enough after some play time... The tuners that I put on have the nylon buttons like some of the old LPs and they look great and keep it in perfect tune... Thanks for watching!
Thanks Bob! I might have kinda known that... But I really didn't know that for certain... I appreciate the insight. You're the first person that has actually told me right out... I'll keep that in mind from now on and it will make me better! Stay blessed and thanks for watching!
Bought mine 2 weeks ago, What a great guitar!!! Love the maple fret board. Would buy again.

Ordered mine ! It’s on the way! May give it to my Nephew his Girlfriend broke up with him!
I’m thinking the black Kai’s h tuners would look cool on that maybe!
Great video, I have been considering this one. Great review.
Thanks for the encouragement... I always appreciate your input!

I have a 77 GIbson Les Paul Custom with a maple fretboard :). Maple cap body as well - looks very similar to this guitar.

what wood is the body? Looks like Oak. Maybe Ash. or veneer of Ash. What is it?

Yes, I really glad that I got this one... It's a keeper!
Most guitars with carve tops don’t use child slaves, but china doesnt care at all.

Reminds me of a popular ELECTRA Les Paul from 70s, but those were bolt on.

Would have gone with black binding on the neck if an option.

Intonation needs to be done with a fretted 12th fret and harmonic or open. An open and harmonic will always match. Just Sayn'
