Thank you for testing this! So many of us gearhead/tinkerers want to know what's behind the scenes with engine management in these new mills but information is scarce. Much appreciated for your pioneering efforts!
This whole adjustable maps on the new tbi bikes reminds me of when I was a kid and my moms car was making a weird sound and my uncle told her she needs to take it to a shop and tell them her muffler bearing was out and she needs a new one lol
Have you established a map/update/flash that will help with the plugs fouling? These, at least the 300's, seem to load up quickly, maybe too much gas being supplied?
Ya, he tested his 2023 125 SX TBI but was only via test rides & seat of the pants. He does not have a dyno to confirm any results he said. Nothing will be heard if it is only changing the ECU Mapping.
It was a 2023 300 XC and he said the difference was mostly apparent in the white (mild) map. Makes good sense as 300 XC and mild map has a good chance of the PV not fully opening to keep the power in check. On the other hand on a 125 TBI taming the power wouldn't make much sense at all so I wouldn't surpised that there is no big change on the 125.
No, ive tried that. It stays in the last map that was selected until a new command is given by the switch. Even if the switch is removed it stays in that last map.
No difference with a stock bike when TwoStrokeperformance did dyno runs last week. I think it was here that I saw them done. The 2023 125 SX TBI has more power in low and mid range but is down about 1 hp at top rpm as I recall compared to a carbed KTM. ua-cam.com/video/80-i9rrHgWE/v-deo.html
Hi guys I’m the guy that called Highland Cycle about these hidden maps. The test that needs to be performed. Plug in the dongle with the throttle fully closed, wait 5 seconds and un-plug. The performance in the white map.. From idle to 3/4 throttle is where the noticeable smoothness is felt.. (not full throttle pulls) Enjoy! From Douglas Carrigan/TN
Yes the differences are too small to see much on a 125. Ill be testing big changes to the powervalve map very soon to see if there's a different result. 50% powervalve opening at WOT will be very obvious to see,
@@TwoStrokePerformance i say what i know....whst you do with that information is on you . But i honestly say this to help you. Hard to believe people say engine break on dyno is good practice on a 2stroke
So my friend is the one who told Morgan about this trick. Sorry Morgan but you didn't do it right. When done correctly it makes a big difference on my 300 TBI. My bike was very strong from the dealership and I plugged in the doggel and set it to the lowest setting for Hard Enduro and it is very smooth. You actually have 6 different maps with the map switch and the 3 settings of the ecu. I would like to see a dyno Run on a 300 TBI with the 3 different maps.
@@Roostfactor1 you have to hold the throttle at closed position half throttle or wide open throttle depending on how strong you want the bike to be. Whichever you choose hold the throttle steady in that location plug in the dongle wait for the green and white map to flash and then go solid color and unplug the dongle and then let off of the throttle. You do not change the throttle position while the doggle is plugged in.
Ive just spent an hour trying every combination like this i could think of and didnt have any luck. I set up the 3rd map to be very obvious on the dyno... killed ignition advance and kept the PV closed above 7000rpm so it desnt make any power. I couldnt get it to go into this map no matter what combination i tried.
Thanks guys. Glad to have you guys on this. I’d love to have you on our live show sometime to talk about this and what you do!
Is it possible that the 3rd map is a richer, lower power break-in map that times out after say 5 or 10 hours?

Thanks. I wish i could post up some of the other stuff we're doing ;) This video is just a tiny fraction of what we do full time, non stop.
Please read after comment #38 (re-map at idle)
Test from idle to 3/4 throttle -white map
I would think there would be an indication on the map switch if you made it into a 3rd map. maybe both lights on, or blinking, or something.
Wow that 125 sounds smooth!

I read The third map .It is more advanced from 10000 to 13000 rpm than the map1 or 2.The fuel is different but near to the Map1 at full throttle.
Have you established a map/update/flash that will help with the plugs fouling? These, at least the 300's, seem to load up quickly, maybe too much gas being supplied?
Use a hotter spark plug… 2T 101
Someplace in Austria an Engineer is either very pissed or laughing his ass off :-)
Perhaps the 3rd map is for when it’s for cold starting?
No, thats handled by other maps.
Put the red thing in then twist the throttle 3 times in a time span of about 5-10 seconds then wait for all the beeps and stuff, then test on dino
Question . How did you woke up the bike to scan the ECU? ON the TPI is easy , trying o figure it out on the TPI. I use TEXA navigator.
Given KTM have optional paid features on several road bikes now, I imagine this map will be pay to play.
Under what circumstances would you want to reset the throttle/power valve like at 5:30 ?

Why doesn't KTM come out with the info?
Great question. I have no idea why. Probably the same reason that they dont talk about all the other stuff thats hidden on the TPI ECU.
@@TwoStrokePerformanceother stuff in TPI ecu? Witch is??
Where did you get that dongle
Comes with the bike when you buy it
Maybe this third map is activated when map switch is disconnected?

Hello , so these functions don't work? Full open or 1/4 throttle
Thanks, Very interesting , I was just thinking about the KTM’s mapping engineers are laughing their asses off watching this video 🤣
Maybe. I do know that they take notice of what we develop.
Did I miss how much power it made to the wheel? Definitely curious lol
Where do you get that dongle from? Dealer or aftermarket? Thank you.
comes with bike
Does it made a difference with a vented airbox on the dyno

It actually did make a small difference, about 0.3hp

Is there any way you’ve found to get rid of the accidental starter push 5 fi lights without taking it to a dealer
Nope just had take my bike into the dealer for this very situation
Wouldn't it be easier if you contacted ktm and ask them if there's a hidden map?
Yes, however in the past that usually results in no reply. The people that are contactable do not have the answers.
@@TwoStrokePerformance You have to get ahold of the calibration engineers via linkedin, I’ve found this to work in my industry with specific software.
Do these TBI bikes come with a oil map hiden in the ECU? Heard a rumor about this but can't confirm this anywhere
TBI biles you blend the 2stroke oil in the fuel.
Not separate like TPI
Yes they have provision for an oil map
Is there an official KTM wifi thing and phone app coming in the future? Like on the Yamahas. Maybe it’s a spot for a ussr created map to be stored.
My assumption is yes, but i have no firm info on it. Maybe these extra maps will be utilised then?
Hope not. Apps + motorbikes= garbage
Maybe the 3rd map is just the dealer map....
Could it just be an altitude variation?
No thats handled with different maps.
After a full pull, you should pull the clutch and do a blip or 2. Thats common 2T way for the dyno
But thats me.....
You know whats funny, when i do that i get comments from people saying the opposite. I mostly pull the clutch after a run, but not always.
