Abel was born in Mozambique in the 1950’s, with the African sculptures and paintings of his childhood having a tremendous impact on the way he saw and enjoyed art.
Studying in Electrical Engineering, Abel then completed a trip of European Art appraisal through Portugal, Spain, Germany, Italy and Greece in 1974. It was in 1977 that he experienced Carnival and Red Indian art in Brazil, and the combination of both trips awoke the dormant, creative right side of Abel’s brain.
Upon arriving in Australia in 1979, Abel was amazed to see the beauty of the land. The feeling was so strong it acted as a catalyst, motivating him to express the way he perceived the world through painting.
For twenty years Abel explored figurative imagery, often times finding it somewhat limiting. At the turn of the century, he began exploring conceptual art and action painting. Now he is delving into the concept of TIME by creating paintings that express past, present and future simultaneously, through entropy of pigment/colour dispersal in his paintings.

I love his energy, he looks like a kid and that's beautiful. I love the entropy system of the paints too. It's hard to paint concepts such as dark energy, quantum mechanics and black holes, you literally can't see thoses things because light can't reach them. I think that this is the true beauty of painting today: showing something that a camera can't photograph. Feelings, thoughts, concepts. Da Vinci once said that a painting could capture the world better than reality itself. He was reffering to being able to paint wind, but i think that he would love Abel's ideas.

If you run out of Aussie artists you can go Europe or USA but if the show format is the same it would be great.
