My fiancé passed at the beginning of the month. So it's been difficult to keep up with the Best Advent series. She and I are both Ambassadors. Her job was in corporate treasury for a large multi-national corporation. She would have absolutely loved your interpretation of the parable. It made me smile and think of her - which I do so many times a day. I felt as if it was a sign that she is looking after me.
Draw from the New and the Old very rightly jives with today's Generosity Habit. Bring the young and the old family members together to learn from each other. Thank you.
The harvest of keen spiritual discernment is a fruit of study, collaboration and most importantly of prayer. Solitude and silence with our Good Lord. I am reminded too, that God does not always answer IMMEDIATELY my prayer for discernment and this too, grows the discerning fruit. Mystery indeed.
Patience is not my best skill or my favorite experience. I find the word WAIT to be the worst 4-letter word, ever. It is a joy to listen to these vignettes and. teachings of Jesus each day. It is a blessing to me each day, and I try to share it with all I meet. Thank you for these blessings.
I was told by a friend that's sharing your morning reflections is a form of evangelismI I never thought of it that way I just thought it was a great way to start the day. My hopes are always that this mornings inspiration will do the same for those that I share this link with. God Bless all of you!
Powerful. Thanks for sharing Mike. Your friend is absolutely right, you can never know how many lives can be changed by simply sharing a message of hope.
Thank you for these words today. I so needed to hear them. I love how you bring the word of God to life in each of your teachings. Thank you and God Bless!
This year your Lenten reflections are such a joyous way to start the day. Must tell you that seeing Matthew’s adorable children makes my day. Their enthusiasm and darling smiles just make me happy all day. Would love to meet each of them someday.. sure their personalities are priceless. Great job Matthew and your lovely wife.
Be a wise householder steward, Matthew and kids thank you for the video, I've never knew that... We must pray to discernment of the situation and pray to observe and be dynamic, lord through JmJ help us to be dynamic and observation to the situation pray to make a decision when the time demands in prayer and wisdom. To draw new from old. Please pray for me and my complicated situation 🙏🏼. For the grace to truly observation and listen and pray for guidance in action be it God's will.
Holy Impatience ....great point.....be wise , discerning , observing, thinking, reflecting and making sound decisions based upon these dynamics. May we all become such wise stewards......Amen..... A truly appropriate and wonderful prayer for these harsh times!
Thank you for all the work you put into these. It's delightful to see these beautiful children, they brighten the day! God Bless and keep you and your lovely family safe and strong!
I love listening to your teachings. I try very hard to apply them to my everyday life. May God bless you and keep you strong in your commitment to spread His holy teachings.
The first thing I do everyday when I wake up is get my cup of coffee and listen to your teachings. What a wonderful way to wake up each morning reflecting on God's Word. Thank you Matthew!!
This teaching really touched home. I did confront the person who caused me harm. I address what this person did to me, but they refused to take responsibility for their action. The confrontation was a small healing for me, however; I realized this person was in much more need of forgiving themselves before they could apologize to me for their actions. Their actions destroyed my marriage.
This householder possesses the gift of “home economics”, the art and science of home management so necessary in every family on earth. Not just for the Domestic church, it’s necessary throughout all sectors of society. A safe refuge, this house(holder) has built on solid rock.
Good Morning Everyone! Thank you Matthew! It’s so important to hear the word of the Lord, but to understand it is divine! I truly appreciate how you so eloquently, thoughtfully and profoundly break the Message up and explain to completeness. So fulfilling!!
Thank you so much for these teachings. I wanted to share how much my heart smiles to see your kids at the beginning and end. It stands out to me how much love comes from your oldest smile to your youngest fellow at the end. Being one of five kids myself it makes my heart dance with joy!
The Kingdom of heaven......is truly the "Pearl of Great Price!!!" Easy to find(it has road signs posted).......difficult to obtain (unless you obtain the road map; prayer).......tough to obtain; (unless you follow....the "narrow path!!)"
I have been following your programs for years-your generosity-you always offer so much to reflect on and act on. Thank you and thank you for sharing your sweet children.
Great teachings Matt. I listen each and every day. Wish you could come to my church where we are learning about the spiritual gifts.i take a charismatic class. It's taken me forever to "wake up and find the Lord" but I found him.👌🙏😁
Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us on the Difficult Teachings … Love the opening segment with your children. It’s makes me smile every time I hear them, especially the enthusiasm of your daughter .
Thank you! This really helps at this time when there is so much division in the church about the the Latin rite vs. novus ordo, we need discernment for what is best for our household
I Love listening to these teachings. They are vibrant and placed within our contemporary times. I keep referring others to the many books that Matthew Kelly has written. Not only are they good teachings to help us be a better version of ourselves, we are proclaiming the way of the Lord.
Matthew, thanks for clarifying about patience. Here I was thinking I only need to be patient, but you are right in saying that sometimes we need to be impatient and act upon something to make something right. God Bless.
This struck a chord with me. Sounds so simply when I hear the words from your mouth. It is so true that avoidance does cause bitterness and resentment. Thank you Matthew for this perspective. God Bless
Wonderful focus on discernment , Matthew. Causes me to think about your book, Life is Messy and Kintsugi. I hope that you are enjoying a Blessed Lent. Thank you for sharing the Difficult Teachings of Jesus.
I thought about this in my daily meditation yesterday. They were using the Latin mass readings, and it was on the Money Changers in the temple. Jesus was angry with them for offering people sacrifices which they didn’t cultivate themselves. We get the same situation with Simon Magus in Acts. Simony is a sin because it seeks to take a power without earning it through humility and good deeds.
I am thankful for your daily doses of Godly love and knowledge. I have been listening for a few years now and have read a few of your books. I have also shared with many as we can all use clarity on how to discern the word of God and to truly allow him into our 💜‘s, lives and homes. Thank you and I pray God will continue to use you in amazing ways.
I love the way to took so much from one verse! A lot to think about! Thanks for your teachings every day! God bless you and your beautiful family! I enjoyed watching your kids every day!
Wisdom, wisdom - thanks for sharing yours, brother Matthew, both the "old and the new" so we, too, can learn to walk more fully in that Way! To our own good, the good of others and to the glory of God.
I wish M.K. could be my spiritual director. As to today's Difficult Teaching - sometimes I do feel like I am drowning in 'rules'. And yet I tend to 'want' everything to have an 'order.' This hit home with me.
I have enjoyed listening to each of these videos; however, I thought today’s presentation was especially wonderful. So thought-provoking. Love it! Thanks so much, Matthew!
Thank you Matthew. Your descriptions help me better understand some of the scriptures that are not blatantly clear. It also shows me that I need to take a deep dive on the difficult ones and study their meaning in more detail.
Thank you Matthew! You have such a gift and dedication to understanding the word of the Lord. Love how you can tease out such deep meaning by using a very simple method: breaking it down by word(s). I feel I am such a great shopper on deals and meals and have a nice little pantry BUT I also can admit to allowing expiry dates to pass or not mixing the old with the new. I am pondering wisdom and " The Way" to grow in wisdom leads to Jesus' teachings. Meek also came to mind when teaching about Patience. I use to think meek meant weak and mousy BUT I remember the teaching of meek in the context it was created. Being a horse gal, I was also astonished at the meeking of the great War horses....ready to turn it on only when needed...patiently waiting for the time to act. Thank you again for this morning practice :) best part of waking up may NOT be foldgers in my cup lol! M.K for the start of my day 🙏
I love discovering the typology in the Old Testament that points so clearly to Jesus in the New Testament. It is stunning to see something that you've heard or read many times come to life and make perfect sense in the light of Jesus. Also, the blending of the worship of the Old Testament into our mass today. SOOO amazing!
I love the breakdown of the parables you shared. Understanding the Old Testament has been a struggle for me, so today's reflection opened my eyes and heart. Thank you.
I'll admit this isn't a verse that I pore over, so I really enjoy Matthew's perspective to draw the knowledge from it and gather a greater appreciation for a verse I didn't understand. Thank you!
One of the key themes of inquiry coming from the recent Synod questions that we are all asked to take part in has to do with communication from and to the Church; the Church in this case ostensibly meaning the clergy. I hope that the clergy is listening to the messages from Mr. Kelly as well as several other lay writers/communicators over the past ten to 20 years. What I see is the acknowledgement that Catholics of the 21st century are educated, want to be more educated, and subscribe to a God who believes that we can understand more and wants us to understand more combining faith and reason. And, it is as much understanding ourselves as it is understanding more about God. These lay, 21st century Catholic communicators seem to have a better idea as to how to communicate with us, what motivates us, and how to draw us nearer to Jesus Christ. I hope someone is taking note of this wonderful, God sent resource.
Sitting in adoration this evening and listening to this reflection. So good, and leaving me with much to chew on in front of and with my Lord. Thank you.

Pray for my husband who is in the hospital who declined to have a priest visit for the rite of healing.

I am reminded too, that God does not always answer IMMEDIATELY my prayer for discernment and this too, grows the discerning fruit.
Mystery indeed.
Lord, please help me to be a wise house holder!

I thought this was great!! We cannot just blindly follow rules, we must learn how to think and observe to do what is best for every situation!
Holy Impatience ....great point.....be wise , discerning , observing, thinking, reflecting and making sound decisions based upon these dynamics. May we all become such wise stewards......Amen..... A truly appropriate and wonderful prayer for these harsh times!

Discernment. That is the key! Thanks so very much for these valuable teachings. I really look forward to them every day!
That was a great example you gave on patience. It's good to intervene instead of just standing by. May God give us courage and strength to intervene.
Indeed

What if you approach after the specific incident and are not given the chance to discuss?
I thought that I ordered Difficult Teachings? Did you send them out?
Carol Dillon
Thanks Carol. Yes, it is still a pre-order book. You will receive it in early May.
Sitting in adoration this evening and listening to this reflection. So good, and leaving me with much to chew on in front of and with my Lord. Thank you.
