    Thanks so much for sharing this, I saw Soursop/ Custard Apple seeds for sale, but in all honesty, hadn't heard of the fruit. Thanks for showing us the fruit as well as the detailed information on how to grow the plant. Well done on that germination success rate, impressive indeed! Soursop is said by some to have very beneficial properties, also in its leaves. Soursop may prove to be the next 'must have' exotic fruit - well anything is exotic when you live in the Rhondda (South Wales, UK) like me! ; )

    Thank you for letting us see the process, I’ve planted some :///
    & I’m gonna have to find someone’s tree and then plant from those seeds
    Because I bought a fruit from the store and planted those (I think it may not work, not sure though)

    How long did you soak? Was out necessary to wait a few days for them to dry before sowing? Did you have light over the seedlings? Thank you!

    • @ThePlantCollector
      @ThePlantCollector  4 роки тому +3

      Isa I had it soaked for only a few minutes....just enough to remove the transluscent layer that is on the seeds...no need to soak overnight...I generally try to work as if this was happing in nature so I just let the seeds sit dry for about 3-4days...after those few days I planted them and left them in an area that would receive about 6-8hrs of direct sunlight a day...hope this helps!

    Very nice! Sour sop is so expensive in grocery store and they are not even that ripe. I wish to grow it. Do you sell seeds by chance?

    • @ThePlantCollector
      @ThePlantCollector  5 років тому +3

      Chat8750 O nothing beats growing your own fruit! Unfortunately I do not sell seeds but hopefully in the near future I can have enough seeds to just give away...planting trees does nothing but GOOD for the earth.

    Hi are the sour sops true to seeds? I have some very tastey sour sop on island and brought the seeds back to America. The seeds are now maybe 2.5 years old. Do you think if i grow them they will be the same fruit i ate ? also are older seeds ok to grow ?

    • @ThePlantCollector
      @ThePlantCollector  7 місяців тому +1

      Well the soursop seeds I grew my soursop trees from gave me some good fruits both in size and in flavor so I would say they are but that’s just from my experience. Still, I’d say there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain. The leaves are commonly known to have anticancerous effects and are usually boiled to make a tea. I use them this way too. 👍
      I am not sure if older seeds will germinate but it doesn’t hurt to try. Hopefully they haven’t dried out! Best of luck to you 🤙

    I just bought myself two soursop and they both were hard. I didn’t know that I was suppose to sit and wait until they get squishy before I eat them so am I going to get sick? I didn’t eat any of the seeds.

    How often did you water them? And did you keep them outside in direct sunlight while waiting for them to grow?

    • @ThePlantCollector
      @ThePlantCollector  3 роки тому +1

      I just made sure the soil stayed moist by watering depending on how the soil looked. If it looked pretty damp I skipped watering but if it looked a bit on the dryer side I watered..just to make sure the seeds didnt dry out. I had them in direct sunlight the entire time. Just be sure to keep the soil moist and you should be ok 👍

    After germination of the seeds how often did you water the 🌱 plants.

    • @ThePlantCollector
      @ThePlantCollector  5 років тому +1

      Ashira Ron I'd water them whenever the soil looked dry just to stay on the safe side...the soil would dry up fairly quickly so I just made sure the soil for the most part stayed moist.

    What size pot should I use? What kind of dirt? Can I put more than one seed in a pot?

    • @ThePlantCollector
      @ThePlantCollector  5 років тому +1

      Chayah Israel you can use a small 3 inch pot...I use miracle grow potting mix...worked fine for me...I'd advise one seed per pot to save from having to untangle roots later during transplanting
