That was incredibly helpful and precisely to the point. Really brought it all together in more ways than one. Very impressed, subscribed and I'll for sure be checking out more of your videos.
william, that‘s impossible to do. there‘s no rule about what‘s basic and what‘s advanced. if you search my channel you find two or three VERY basic tutorials.
thanks, cassim. this tutorial is more popular than i thought. i released a tutorial just a few days ago which takes this a little further: creating an IK leg. best, maximilian
Hi, Mr. Maximillian, Thanks for Nice tutorial. But I have a question about Handles. We can move the skeleton with hierarchy button(Hier in select menu). So why we need the Handle? Or is it compulsory for move?
i don'tunderstand your question, serdar arslan. the IK handle is the end locator which you of course need to animate. it's basically a TRANSLATE node which frees you from animating delicate ROTATION values of the joints. ----maximilian
Exactly what I needed not to fail my first course in Character Animation using Maya. Thank you very much!
I'm going to cry tears of joy now that my arm works properly
AndreZB what is wrong with your arms man 😔
The best tutorial about this subject so far!
Oh my god I'm so glad this tutorial exists. I struggle a lot with rigging but you have made everything so clear and simple to understand, thank you!!
I've only watched 2 minutes so far and I can already tell this is going to be extremely helpful

This does not work for me in maya 2019. IK is only following the first joint's rotation axis and won't rotate the rest of the chain accordingly
i think i did this tutorial with maya 2018.
Is it possible to use soft bodies with bones (FK/IK) in Maya ?
just try it out! if it does not work, you can always create a soft body from the original mesh and set it as a goal.
Excellent tutorial.
seriously amazing tutorial
quite a while ago when i did this. glad it helped.

I'm new to Maya. Therefore, I did not understand the necessity of IK Handle and grouping.
Thanks.

Hmmm, that's not right is it. You can rotate your fingers (ball joints). They just have fairly narrow limits.
