Whoa, you made it all the way down here! Thank you ♥️ Love you - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
David, you are not allowed to give me a heart attack like that again! Glad you were able to capture the swarm safely!
I about gave myself a heart attack 😊
Yea all I said he made the video.. so I knew the outcome.. what I said to my self all the crazy stuff we do for the 🐝 😂
Darn it! I wish I had seen this last week. We had a swarm up in a tree on a hill and I thought for sure that they would disperse when I went to cut the branch. That's incredible they all stayed together. They never cease to amaze me!
I clamp a Plastic contractor bag onto my salmon fishing net and whap them into the bag from the bottom. Then, dump them into a single deep. However, your way works too.:)
Put a bucket on a pole for these high swarms! We were all freaking out for you!
I’ve done this and attached a paint bucket with a side handle and then duck taped it. The arm can extend 25’ it was perfect and got the job done easily
GREAT VIDEO DAVID.
Oh, boy... You treat the bees politely. I was very impressed.
Thanks I try
That’s the best thing I’ve ever seen you do!🐝🐝🐝
Thanks
Very nice ! No hospital visits! 😮
I know and usually it takes at least a couple of Band-Aids 😀
I love watching your channel. Thank you. I’m new to beekeeping and I learn so much with every video.
So nice of you
Thank you for showing us your progress. 💛💛💛💛
You are so welcome!
Dave thanks for listing! I see we have a lot in common! I was born in 1960 and tied the knot in 80 and had 1st child in 1981!
Rock on!
Fascinating! Thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great catch David!
Thanks
I just added new deeps to my month old nucs. One was 7.5 frames full and aggressive. The other was 8 frames full and building comb everywhere. The only open brood frame in the latter had the queen on it, so she is in the new brood box. I hope they work out. I have yet to see the queen in the aggressive hive, but I moved a very heavy frame with some open larvae in it up to the new box.
Praying it works out!
Great Job 😊 looks great 👍I hope 2 catch a swarm I have 6 traps out. 👍
Good luck!
Wow!!! David this video was amazing. I'm sure glad it wasn't your last. we appreciate you and all your dedication!!!
I appreciate that!
That was great! Looked like me when I box a swarm so it gave me a ton of confidence. I'm doing it right :D Thanks!!
This feels like the swarm I had to catch a week ago; way up in a gangly little tree with nowhere to put the ladder xD. I think I ended up leaning an extending ladder against a folding ladder I nested into the blackberry bushes & had my father hold one of them. The risks we take for bees haha
Get a swarm reacher. They were sold at NAHBE. It's a little device that you put on the end of an extension pole. Then you attach an old brood comb frame to it and extend the pole to the swarm. They'll crawl right onto the frame.
Tried that a month ago and couldn’t get the queen
Next time have a bell make some metal noise they will land closer 😂
What an impressive catch! It seemed to go quite easy. I liked how calm the bees were during the transition.
Congratulations!
Thank you very much!
Nice video. It may have been easier to clean up the branch bundle a bit before you pulled it down…
Thats awesome David. Glad you caught em and got em before they took off.
Yeah you pinched one trying to hold on to the branch. Fingers can be a rough spot for a sting, I just got one the other day on the tip of my index of my dominant hand... Ouch! Lol.. but then stings are good for us so i dont mind a little burn and itch every now and then.
You got that right!
It turned out easy for you . 👍👍
Time for the swarm reacher. You should have one by now.
I’ve tried that before and just didn’t work for me.
Seems like a very strong hive.
It is
That's a nice sized swarm
It is and I’m glad I caught them for that reason
Stay safe Buddy! Maybe easier to use an extendable pole with a drawn frame attached?
Nice recovery David. I've been following the progress of the little round hive for some time.
Never can get the queen with those
I just caught a wild swarm a few days ago. I guess I’m late watching this video. I need to find a feeding video. I know nothing about bees and hope I can learn enough to take care of them.
Great job David Charlie PA
Thanks, Charlie. I always appreciate you.
You made that look so easy.
Experience I guess
Caught 13 of my own swarms with mine. 15 ft is no problem.
That’s some rockstar moves right there
Good job David glad you’re OK
Rock on
Watching from Kenya. Mine also swarmed on me today and game them a 5frame NUC
Thank you for watching from Kenya
bahahahaha. i love the music!
Thank you
Tape a bucket to a pole and shake it in
Correct me if I am wrong, but couldn't you "split" the round hive by just shaking off a bunch of bees and the queen into a different hive? You don't actually have to move the frames, right?
Yes, I mentioned that it’s a possibility at the end of the video
What I want to know is, how many times did you hang your ladder up while strapped to tue side by side?
So far so good said the man that jumped out of a 10th floor window at floor 8
Is that the time I broke my arm and got a concussion
@beek my ladder was 10 feet to short, otherwise idda done the same thing
what could go wrong👍
Here, hold my beer and watch this 🤣
Did you marked the queen that swarmed… to make a split on those rounds hive all you have to do is open it shakes all the bees 🐝 off on a nuc find the queen and let them raise their own queens. On the nuc get some resources from others hive.
Good point, but I was hoping never to have to disturb them just to see how long they would live
Pool extension pole and a bucket or cloth bag??? Be safer? Chain saw on a rope instead of dropping it? I even saw a guy use the pool pole and a frame to gather swarming bees
I’ve tried that and sometimes in a dense tree like this just doesn’t get the queen
Hello David, I used your trick of adding wax to my undrawn frames, they started out well then went wonky again, I’m frustrated! Could I have added too much wax?
Would a bee vac help in this case?
Just more stuff to take up and mess with on top of a shaky ladder.
Me I think leave it to old for this kind stuff 😮
Good advice
