I’ve been collecting the reprint collections of Creepy, Eerie, and Vampirella for a while now and I absolutely love them! Takes me back to being a kid riding my bike to 7-11 in the 70s and reading the whole issue at the magazine rack (much to the consternation of the clerk) 😂

Late to the party here. Creepy & Eerie were the gold standard for horror comics in the 60s and 70s. I discovered them in my teens, 1990s. They were cheap and just forgotten at the time. Now they are becoming collectible.. I also love the old EC comics. Great video.

Yes! I love that you collect horror comics - I collect horror comics as well! I collect most from the bronze age, 70's era. I have a handful of horror comics I have been picking up from Ebay for the last couple years. The majority of the ones I have are from The Witching Hour, Unexpected, and House Of Secrets. I loved Archie comics when I was a kid too!

As you say, no horror people can not understand the pleasure of reading a horror comic, specially stuff from the 70’s. I think comics in general are undervalued and one day the society will understand the rule of this art along the history.

Hi Regina. I did a UA-cam search for vintage horror magazines/comics and this video was among many suggested by UA-cam. I really enjoyed the video and I subscribed to your channel. I look forward to checking out your other videos. I’ve been collecting horror magazines for awhile now, and i just recently came across a seller who was selling a collection for a relative of his and I was able to pick up some early low number Creepy and Eerie mags as well as a few others. These books are getting more and more pricey…
It’s always fun to see what other people have in their collections. Thumbs up on your video 👏🏼

I really enjoyed your video! Horror comics and magazines from the 60's and 70's hold a special nostalgia from my formative years. It seemed to mix a unique telling of Fantasy/Sci-Fi/Horror that has always peaked my imagination. Having been a comic collector in my youth, it was easy to find and buy "regular" books, but the more mature themed books were more elusive. This left me with having to have someones older sibling buy them for me, or trading heavily. It was hard for a young teenager to get full runs or any sort of substantial collection. I would imagine I only had about 100 or so titles that included; EERIE, CREEPY, Vampirella, Tales from the Crypt, Weird, HEAVY METAL etc.. The only ones I could manage to get subscriptions for was Savage Sword of Conan and Epic Illustrated.
As most of us did in our youth, I sold my collection at 19 for a fraction of what it was worth. Hindsight would have me set up for an early retirement! All remorse aside, it has been fun the last couple of years to re-collect those vintage tombs of taboo from yesteryears. Like you, I have picked up nice copies of lots of those titles on Ebay and other auction sites. The accompanied art in some of those books is AMAZING which just adds to the depth of the stories. Frazetta being my favorite, his style of fantasy art is wickedly Epic. The Savage Sword of Conan is surprisingly reasonable pricing to collect especially, with a much darker Conan than the movies portray. Fantastic creatures, gory battles, and scantily clad women abound.
I have never read Metal Men, but it looks interesting, I will pick up some copies if I can find a good buy. Im wondering if there are newer comics, magazines, or graphic series, that hark back to those old books. I know of the compendium of comics that EC Archives has put out, but something new. I also just heard that there is a similar publication to Creepy called; The Creeps that I need to check out. Can anyone suggest anything that has came out in the last decade or is still running?
And, FYI, I just picked up a limited series; Archie vs. Predator...which, after watching this video, would seem to be something that would appeal to you. I have also heard Afterlife with Archie is the best of those series. Maybe check them out. Anyway, like I said, I really enjoyed your video. Thanks for taking me back down memory lane and displaying some great magazines. I hope it can turn more people on to a great era of graphic art and storytelling.

Eerie comics! That and Creepy comics were my favorite black and best and white graphic illustration. Those were really the only ones I read as they had great plot lines. However, I never got into horror movies like Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Hellraiser films.
I think I understand what you mean about not liking super popular superhero movies. Only watched the first X-Men and Toby McGuire's portrayal of Spiderman.
But I wasn't into The Watchmen and Marvel universe franchise.

Hi, I have been looking for a particular story that likely was in Creepy or Eerie magazines back in the day about a Lil'Vampire Boy roaming an empty playground only viewing one child that attempts to run only to be caught drained only to discover he has been infected with Small Pox. Do you or anyone remember this story and when or where it was published?

I agree. I love Horror comics and monster mags as well. I read them growing up in the '60s and '70s, and I've collected them since the mid '70s. The Warrens are really great and I'm so glad I bought mine back around 2000 before the prices got so ridiculous. The work by Frazetta, Ken Kelly, Sanjulian, Wrightson, Gonzalez, etc. is gorgeous. You should check out the Skywald titles Nightmare, Psycho, and Scream, especially if you're a Lovecraft fan. Even the over-the-top Eerie Pubs mags are very cool in their own way. BTW, The Creeps is a good homage to classic Warren, and "Warrant" Publishing will be starting their Vampirella homage soon called Vampiress Carmilla. I also agree that fun beats the heck out of "PC" anytime... and, yeah, I love the scantily clad voluptuous females too. PC be damned. ;)

Thanks so much for the tips. I will check those out. I'm looking forward to visiting the Frank Frazetta museum soon. Have you watched the animated film "Heavy Metal"?

    • @michaeldodd9154
      @michaeldodd9154 4 роки тому +1

@@ReginasHauntedLibrary Visiting the Frazetta Museum would be wonderful. I haven't gotten to yet, maybe one day... Yes, Heavy Metal is a favorite. I've seen it several times and own it on DVD. Wrightson's Hanover Fist is fun, as is Corben's Den, and the wrap-up segment with Tarna, and the B-17 segment...I guess it's all really cool. Since you love Frazetta you should check out Fire And Ice by Frank and Ralph Bakshi. Also, the Frazetta documentary Painting With Fire is highly recommended. Some of Frank's best work are his early Warren covers so grab all of those possible. His story Werewolf in Creepy #1 is a real high point as well. And, the Frazetta hardback books Icon, Legacy, and Testament, are very beautiful.

You seem to have a wealth of knowledge with this magazine. I'm trying to rekindle a childhood memory. Being an
avid Famous Monster of Filmland collector, I recall reading a story in "possibly" Eerie. Scare the the shit out of me
as a kid in the 70's. Unfortunately, I've been unable to locate this comic strip story. All I could remember is the story
involved a girl jumping into a swimming pool (I believe indoor) and what she thought was water turned out to be
acid. I don't know why I remember this after 48 years. Do you know which story or issue featured this story? I don't
believe it was Creepy magazine due to the artwork. PLEASE HELP
