I know it is past 8 months from this comment but man - most of these people are just show fanboys and literally can't rate how well is the character written. Don't know Spike (going to watch after this comment) but the remaining 2 are perfect candidates for S. Gon being put in S tier for a while where for most of the show it literally feels like he is just some proxy for main story. Goku is super forced up in tiers due to nostalgia. Boji is well written but compared to others it''s still max B tier. Are these people blind?

Placing Gintoki on B is a war crime. The character is literally wrote to perfection.
They obviously haven't seen Gintama. Notice how he wasn't moved around at all. I'm pretty sure anyone who watched it would put him in S.
It made my skin crawl to see nobody move him the entire video. I love JJK, but having Yuji on the same level as him, and Denji and Naruto above him is a true war crime. For anybody who hasn’t watched GinTama I’d highly recommend it. My favorite anime of all time.

Not everyone digs Goku, but he is definitely the most, if not one of the most Iconic main characters.
I think goku would be SS tier if toriyama went through with making gohan the successor to protector of earth in the cell arc.
Going back on that kind of makes goku's sacrifice meaningless.
Vegeta would be up there too with his sacrifice in his attempt to stop buu. Unfortunately the triviality of death kind of undercuts a lot of the character's actions.
Goku nonetheless is genuinely the father of shonen and his character from db to dbz:cell is perfect.

Can you describe what makes him poorly written? From my perspective he is incredibly well written. He starts his journey as a happy go lucky adventurous kid who wants to fight. He then sees his dad get killed in front of him and is taken over by the idea of getting revenge and that consumes him but also drives him on to become an amazing warrior/assassin. He is being used by his fathers killer but he doesn't care as long as he gets a chance to kill him. Then he never gets his revenge and that destroys him. He could have fought his way out but doesn't care anymore to do so. Then he's forced to come to terms with the killing he did realising he's no better than the man who killed his father. He also builds a friendship with another slave and begins to regain his humanity which he lost. He swears off fighting and killing. He wants to make a place like our society today without fighting and killing. He literally took a huge beating from someone never fighting back but never giving up which takes way more courage than fighting back as an expert fighter. He is an insanely well written character. Is it possible you are just bias against him because you don't like him now? Because objectively he is a far better written character than pretty much everyone on that list. Ffs people put luffy so high up and for what? The man has 3 feelings hungry happy and angry. He's your stereotypical b tier shounen character. Goku is even worse. The best words to describe him is ignorant and oblivious. The reality is is that thorfinn, guts and spike are probably the best written characters on that list.

It’s legit people that just reduce sailor moon to a goofy shoujo anime. In my opinion it in many ways functions as a shonen better than some actual shonen
