    Listen to this advice given to younger folks back in 1950 for throwing a good party. You won't find any "whippets" at these parties. But prepare yourself, because you never know what shenanigans these youngsters could be up to.

    PLOT TWIST = The "roommate" was actually his boyfriend.

    This is great. Such good wholesome clean fun. And the girl's dresses, the guy's gelled hair & all wearing ties. It's from a bygone era.

    That is wild, I thought it would be a warning about alcohol or something but no, it's just "how to have a party".

    This film looked eerily familiar but I couldn't figure out why. Then, I actually remembered...
    ..."Mystery Science Theater 3000" gave this their smarty-pants treatment back in the day. Now I'm going to have to search the old MST3K episodes to see which feature film this preceded.😊

      I love Mystery Science Theater! My wife never could understand why I loved it so much. Now she knows I have to give commentary on every movie haha

    My late parents (born in 1923) used to talk about games and singing at parties, but they would've hated this one - no booze!

      Yeah this is what the government wanted people to do, but reality is much different.

    My home ec teacher showed us this one. In 1988. She'd probably shown it her whole career and hadn't realized things had changed a bit. All this talk about "gangs" was surprising.

    People just seemed way older than they really were back then and their mannerisms seemed way different. It seemed like a very prim and proper and very clean cut era. Hard to believe that any of them still living would be well into their nineties now!😳

    • @BluesInSeattle
      @BluesInSeattle  Місяць тому +2

      I think the acting style gives off the impression that there were better manners back then. But I'd be willing to bet that reality wasn't exactly like this.

      @@BluesInSeattle I suppose it wasn’t. My late grandmother (1929-2017) said she didn’t wear heels, fancy dresses or pearls like June Cleaver did, going bare feet was what most people naturally did in the house and not high heels 👠 or wing tip dress shoes and suits in the house. I bet it would be a fair statement that people in that era didn’t fling the F word around as much as they do today, though I’m sure my grandmother did lol, thanks for replying.

      Yeah... most of them are dead, unfortunately. This is an "educational" video, i.e. much less about what was going on in real life but rather about what people though was worth emulating.

    Nice party, but where's the music?!?!
    I get that there wasn't rock 'n' roll yet, but still...

    • @BluesInSeattle
      @BluesInSeattle  25 днів тому +1

      @@lunachickfringe5319 well the early makings of Rock and Roll can be heard predating 1950 in the late '40s as the beat came out of R&B and Blues musicians. I would suspect most kids in the Western and Northern part of the United States were still listening to offshoots of country Western and folk, so the music was pretty conservative. Burl Ives or Gene Audrey etc.
      But don't be fooled, the kids of those days were more promiscuous and wild than is displayed in movies. This video was created as a public service announcement and played in schools to try to counteract the wild parties of the day and influence teens.
