Great video!!! I'm using this motor as well around here and the experience was great so far (connected to HomeKit, Google Home and Home Assistant with the Matter plugin). Regarding Alexa, even though they support Matter, it's limited to lights, switches, outlets and motions sensors. They still lack support for Hubs, Shades, TVs and other devices, that's why I think it was failing for you to work on their platform (it failed for me too).
Hi, I could not find the link for the more powerful motor. I have a 6.5 feet patio blind and I need more powerful motor. I searched everywhere but I couldn’t find. Please help. Thanks
How wide is the "control panel" - the bit that houses the micro usb connector? Knowing the usb port dimensions and judging form that, seems to be around 5mm, but for some reason I can't find any schematics anywhere.
Hi, this particular model doesn’t have a micro-USB port, as it’s permanently powered. However, the more recent models that contain a rechargeable battery do use USB-C. The section that houses this port on those devices is 9mm wide.
Can you set up multiple shades to work in unison off the same remote? We are building a new home that will have a wall of windows too high to block the sun. I thought the ZemiSmart roller shade that includes the solar charge would work nicely.
Hi, as I only had the one motor for review purposes, I couldn’t test this, but it seems according to ZemiSmart’s website, in order to control multiple blinds you simply need their 9-channel remote, as opposed to the single channel remote. Alternatively, you could group the blinds in Apple Home (assuming you use it) and control all blinds together via HomeKit. This wouldn’t work with the single remote, at least not without some form of automation that allows all blinds to work together based on their state.
@@richardmay3803 the roller tube in the video was sent to me with the the motor, for the review. I’ll see if I can find a source, and post a follow up here.
@@richardmay3803 I don’t know if this would be of use, but this is on Amazon UK - www.amazon.co.uk/Aluminium-Tube-Suitable-Electric-1M_38mm_Tube_Pack/dp/B0D4MK7RV2/
Do you know how to change the motor direction using the remote? The tuya versions needed the app to change the direction, can't figure out how to set the motor direction with this Matter version.
This particular model doesn’t have any kind of USB/Micro USB port to connect a solar panel, and there’s no battery inside to receive a charge, so no I don’t believe this will work with their solar panel.
Can the blinds still be opened and closed manually after they are setup with the motor inside and will it know how much they have been moved up or down?
Hi, will it fit a 34 inch width blind? I see it said the length of the motor only 14 inches so im not sure how it can be mounted to fit the blind. Also do you know where to buy the blind + tube that fits it? Thank you !
Hi, the motor sits inside your roller tube, and as long as the tube is longer than the motor, it should be ok, as the motor doesn’t need to reach the whole length of the tube. What matters is the diameter; this is designed to work with roller tubes of 36-38mm in diameter, so if your roller tube is bigger or smaller than this, it won’t work. If you watch this video from 1’43” it explains how this type of motor works with existing roller blinds - ua-cam.com/video/Y1JcZpvb_Co/v-deo.htmlsi=VbGQ-h_ohHTTmKbZ
@@homekitnews so i bought everything, the remote works fine, but i tried to set it up in google home app on my phone it said the device is offline for some reason, i wonder is it because i dont have the google hub?
@dotruongq if you don’t have any Google Nest hubs, even the mini speaker, then effectively you don’t have a Matter Controller, which is required for Matter products on all Matter platforms.
I brought hom a google nest to try it out, it paired , it initially stay at 100% open, but when i click on it, the device disconnect from the wifi and unable to click on no more, I tested 3 out of 5 motors i bought, same issue, i do have an eero 6 wifi so i could see that it was disconnected.@@homekitnews
I’m using the SmartThings Station and I was able to add it with a code generated in the Apple Home app, as the original Matter code was being used for Apple Home.
Hi! Great review!, i was wondering how matter would handle the multi-platform side of things😮, do you think this motor is capable to lift a 60in wide and 83in tall zebra blind 🙈?
Hi, I managed to get it working with three of the four platforms with only minor temporary issues, but Amazon doesn’t support window coverings as a category yet, so that didn’t work. The motor is designed to work with up to 4kg in weight, so if you’re able to somehow get the weight of the blinds, you’ll then know if the motor is strong enough.
@@homekitnews Thanks for the reply! The blind its way heavier than 4kg, I'll wait for a stronger motor with matter (to be used with homekit and google home) 👍🏻
@@Carliv_Sot there’s supposed to be a 10kg version, but last time I checked I didn’t see it on there website, but it might be worth checking now and again.
This sucks that you can't get a 12v version with zigbee of this. I have 12v prewired to all my windows and this being usb based the only work around I can see is hooking the 12v line to a 5v buck converter.
This a the most affordable blinds ill try it out. Thanks for the review, you find good products and idk why you do have more coments and vids. Keep the good work. Edit: can it be extended ( width ) or is it just one size?
Hi, glad you enjoyed the video. The motor’s diameter can’t be changed, so it will only fit one size of tube. The motor doesn’t need to fit the whole length of the roller tube, so the length isn’t important, although if you have a really narrow blind, it would have to be at least as long as the motor.
@@homekitnews im having so many problems now where the lose connections. could it be my wifi? I have a router next to it and im using it with homekit and most of the time it shows like its updating even do I haven't touch it, then it goes no response.
It’s hard to know if it’s your WiFi, but if it’s close to the router, then it probably isn’t. Do you have a lot of WiFi devices connected to your router? If not, then it could be a defective unit.

One question: How loud is it?
It’s actually very quiet, although I don’t have it set up so I can’t tell you the dB levels.

Hi, on the remote, press the ‘set’ button four (4) times, then press the ‘up’ button on the remote, and it should reverse the motor direction.
Would this wire to one of the solar panels that zemismart sell for their other motors?

No, it’s not possible to move it manually, unless you unmounted the whole roller tube.

There are many shops that sell blinds, so all you need to ensure is that the blinds are sold with a tube diameter of 36-38mm.

The motor is the minimum size it can be, but it can fit longer roller tubes. The tube doesn’t have to be the same length as the motor.
