This is extremely helpful , I had been wanting this piercing for a while now and finally got it done four days ago. The swelling is definitely annoying but overall I love it and can’t wait to see how it’s going to look once it’s healed.
I unfortunately had to have my philtrum piercing taken out after only a week. I had what I believe to be an allergic reaction which freaked me out. So I had it removed just to be safe. It sucks because I really wanted that piercing. 🤷🏽♀️
Got my medusa done twice. I had to remove it for a job (yikes) and years later I pierced it again, its been 2 weeks, yeah, it does hurt but I have other piercings (ears, septum, bridge) so I'm ok with the pain. It was swollen for 3 days or so and then it was gone. My body is great at healing, I always keep it up with the healing care as well and I took ibuprofen for swollen etc etc... Now I think my piercing is nesting, there is skin growing but not over the piercing just around it but I can always push it out without a problem. I love how it looks with my septum and bridge, love love love it.

Good example of everyone being different, that’s the first piercing I’ve ever had where I wanted to crawl out of the chair 😂 septum, navel, triple forward helix, stretched initial lobes, second lines, double helix, flat, all easy as pie. This one sucked 😂 doesn’t mean I won’t be going back for my paired labrets 😂 but I won’t go in expecting the best, for sure 😂
Not quite two week update, I had to get switched out on day three from the initial 5/16ths post to a 7/16ths for swelling that just wouldn’t stop no matter how much ice and ibuprofen. Yesterday it got switched back to the 5/16ths post and there’s a tiny bit of space, but not much. Feels great, looks great, I’m absolutely obsessed with it! But that swelling is no joke! 😂
The pain tolerance depends on the person's body cemetery. Some might say it hurt a lot and some might say it was like a pinch and that's it. We can only give our personal opinion on it if we got it done instead of hearing it from someone who hasn't even gotten it done Ps. I love your style very unique. Suits you well 👌 😀 👍
I just got mine yesterday, and so far no swelling at all, so the super long bar is annoying me a lot. Already can't wait to get it changed out. I got it done at a 12g too as I've got a beard and tache, so my piercer suggested doing I larger gauge with bigger bead on it so that it's actually visible through it. It was definitely the most painful of all my lip piercings (I have a central labret and snakebites that started as spiderbites so plenty lip piercing experience) but easily less painful than my helix or industrial. So far love the look of it and happy with having it. Thanks for the guide, helped reaffirm what to do even for someone with many piercings 😊
I don't have a medusa piercing (yet lol) but I did get my Madonna done about 5 days ago. The piercer did use clamps and pierced it from the inside out. It really didn't hurt too much maybe more like a hard pinch but I could feel a couple pops as he was putting the needle through the different layers of skin lol. Was probably the weirdest part. Definitely started swelling the next day and still is but it works because it makes the jewelry fit better lol. For now, it's a labret with a silver ball on the end but I can't wait till I can change it cause these balls make me paranoid that they're going to get loose and fall off. After my six weeks is up I'm hoping to size down and get a labret with a jewel or gemstone on it. Maybe my birthstone. Would say this piercing is easy peasy and 10/10 recommend!!!
I've had mine already for few weeks and now my skin in the inside is growing over it. The barbel is long so I don't understand why it's doin that .but I am continuing to cleaning it. It hasn't fully grown over it ,I can just see the right ride popping up around it

I got my philtrum punched out to a 6g yesterday. I had a pretty severe web so my piercer cut my web before the punch. It was a pretty intense procedure.
I wish I could get mi e pierced but my manager at work might acuse me of being a d*ug user or a thug again like she did after i got my tattoo's! I love the philtrum piercing it is so beautiful!
An update: I went ahead and got my philtrum pierced this past October. I just keep my mask on at work and once they do away with maks ill just figure it out! I work in medical field so could be a while before masks are done away with!
Hi Gretchen! Is it a problem to get a philtrum piercing if you share a bed with a dog? In terms of, is this a major infection risk, and is the infection potentially more serious in a Medusa piercing versus say the ear lobes? This is, of course assuming that one is following basic standards of piercing care/hygiene (spraying with Neilmed salt solution twice a day, oral rinsing after meals etc), as well as cleaning your bedding regularly and not allowing your dog to lick or come into contact with your piercing directly. (I also generally sleep on my back and have a Sleep and Glow anti-wrinkle pillow with cut outs that keep my face clear of contact with the pillow when side sleeping). I have wanted a philtrum piercing for years, but it is not possible for my little dog to sleep elsewhere, so I am wondering if this means I cannot get it done? I had 3 lobe piercings done 12 weeks ago and have had no problems with them at all with my dog in the bed. However, I am not sure if oral piercings are at greater risk? Thanks 😊.
Is the inside supposed to touch the middle of your teeth ¿ last time I got it pierced could’ve sworn it was just above my teeth not really touching them or my gums ¿ pls help

I have a question: I had a labret piercing but my bottom lip was so thick that it almost swallowed the stud. When I went in to get it changed because I couldn’t get ahold of it myself, they told me to remove it because it wasn’t a good idea for the area…even though they were the ones who pierced me. I really want a “medusa” but I’m worried about this happening again. (I go to a different shop now too). Is the top lip thinner than the lower lip do you think? I have 16 gauge 5/16ths labret jewelry of all shapes that I adore and they are just sitting around. What do you suggest? Thank you! Orin
Hey, I’d suggest you to visit another reputable piercer and have them take a look to assist you. There are a lot of things that could have caused your labret piercing to sink in, but don’t let that stop you from getting a Medusa! If done correctly and also with the right jewelry size, it shouldn’t be a problem to heal it. Oral piercings usually heal a bit faster than other body-piercings.
I got mine almost a month ago and it’s still sore. I still have crusties as well. Some days are worst than others. The bar isn’t too short I don’t think because there’s a little room when I push on it w my tongue. I clean it twice a day. Just not sure what else to do..
I got my Medusa Piercing in June the Medusa was the Most Painful Lip Piercing my Vertical Labret and Spider Bites Piercings I really like my Medusa Piercing I like the Medusa better than the Monroe and Madonna Piercing because every Tom Dick and Harry have the Monroe or Madonna Piercing even though my Medusa Piercing was the Most Painful I handled it like a Champ

I called the piercing place and asked for a longer bar but they told me the bar i have is their longest and that id be fine.... im just nervous the flatback will make a mark in my gums or get swallowed up and its been about 3 days now is that normal?
I’m pretty sure my piercer pierced it sideways. Like it looks fine from the outside, but the end of the stud is definitely not in the center on the inside of my mouth. I definitely think it’s off to some extent, but I think the swelling is making it look a little worse. Is it ok for it to be a little sideways? I really don’t want to have to get it repierced. This shit hurt and my lip is bruised so bad.
same tho. mine is def not centered on the inside. can i ask what you did? i personally want to wait until i downsize my bar to see if it at least sits flush. if not i’m gonna get it redone. i told the woman too but she told me to wait for the swelling to go down, so i better get it redone for free. lol
@@ophelia.underwater yeah , on the inside . It happened to me . A piercer had to cut the extra skin on the inside . But I really want it again 😭 I was told that it wasn't done properly
@@clarencekirkwood4924 the piercer changed it after 1 month but when he was changing it he took the piercing out and when he tried putting in the new jewellery , the hole was closed , so he had to open it again and I think it wasn't straight after he did that :(

It hurt maybe a 3/10 for me, the healing process is even worse for me. The bars so long and uncomfy rn and feels like stuffs stuck in my gums

It wasn’t super painful, but it was the most uncomfortable process of all my piercings and I got my nips done on the same day.

I got mine 2 days ago. Yesterday was the worst for swelling and it’s already a lot less swollen today. The worst part is trying to eat 😂

I think they would get caught on each other too much and it would be quite a pain, but I’m sure it could be done, just ask your local shop!
When I got mine my lip didn't swell at all. Just says how peoples body react differently
It didn't hurt me at all it was just pressure and I didn't swell at all so I'm stuck with this long bar for the next month smh🙄

For me it makes my cupids bow more pronounced so it gives a more fuller look to the lips
