Beautiful reading, the tone was spot on and edits made it from a greentext to a gorgeous tale. If anyone has any questions about anything, I've got answers, time, and entirely too much information!
"It's Okay mom, i'm alright." Me: *realizes that those two skeletons that kneeled by the casket were his parents* Me: I'm...Not going to cry. *cries internally*
Astoshan did all this so he could give all the murdered a second chance to live in peace and so he could be with his mom, He wasn't a bad guy, he was just doing what was right
Astoshan isn't out for himself, or anyone else, or anything but his goal. He isn't true neutral, he's Unaligned. Edit: I know Unaligned usually means something that doesn't understand morals.
The line "It's okay mom, I'm alright" gives ALL the weight his actions need to push him to lawful neutral. He brought justice. It took time, lots of time. But he avenged everyone those raiders killed. I wouldn't be surprised if his alignment shifts closer to lawful, or if he gets noticed by a God
Oh no, don't be mistaken. While the world isn't just black and white, those ends do exist, and some things are just pure black, and pure white, even if those ends of spectrum aren't often achieved by humans. If there was no black, or white, there couldn't be the myriad shades of grey.
Dwarves pay FAR more attention to the world than Elves do, most of the time. So do Halflings for that matter. Sadly people tend to think of them as comedy relief.
People who want you to see everything in black and white are the ones you should watch. They're the most likely to be villains in real life or stories. ;)
@@lukeshort2960 Yeah, Paladins are in actuality Lawful Evil. That's my belief on them considering how whenever they sense "Evil" alignments they immediately attack, don't even try to convert them or find out what's going on with them. I've got a character built (haven't gotten to play him yet) that is falling under the evil alignment, I'll explain why - but it's not too late for him as towards the end of his story (as long as he survives) he has another internal breakdown, and his alignment can be changed there as long as the others notice and come to help & talk to him [will shift to Lawful Neutral at that point]. It's just that his values drove him down a dark path. He values Family, Bonds [friendship], & Loyalty. Now, why would this be such a big when it comes to him? His childhood. He had such a strong bond with his family, and it was all crushed before his eyes. His family, friends, everyone, murdered by his sister, his home... burned down. He has lost sight of everything and has a deep hatred towards her. [Optional] He went to a church to join the Paladins, asking if he could join them hearing how righteous they always are, that he values their code. He's turned down because of the darkness growing in his heart. Now then, you might ask, why is this character so bad? It's precisely because of his past, while he's extremely vengeful demanding for righteousness to be dealt, his heart has taken a turn where anytime he sees friends fighting, especially if they're family, he remembers his sister and gets pissed. He looks straight for the person at fault in the fighting and is merciless towards them. Even if they're just children, his sister wasn't even a full adult yet so he doesn't believe in youthful innocence. [He's a Sorcerer with a lot of latent talent, should bring that up; Half Human/Elf] A very stark character, how could he possibly be redeemed if that's where his heart is? Everyone is human, people make mistakes. His values were twisted. He needs shown why the things he's doing is wrong. Deep down he wanted to be with her still but could never forgive her for what she's done, and he doesn't see that. While this is a character flaw, it can also be used to control him in the hands of another person whose smart enough to see the problem, using his old core values against him to make him rethink his actions, but his mind always returns to his personal quest to find and kill his traitorous sister. This, is the ending chapter of his personal quest, and where his alignment can be changed, afterwards he's not so rough towards others anymore with his goals fixed, and tries to do what little good he can in the world after all of his mistakes... if the others don't notice his internal breakdown after he finally fulfills his objective, well... let's just say no one will ever hear from him again. He's been living in despair for a long time, vengeance was the only thing he had left, all he could ever think about, could never forget it, an unyielding nightmare. When he's fulfilled his goal, he's empty. Can't forget about it still, nothing left to live for, no hopes or dreams of for the future, and only one thought crosses his mind yearning for freedom from the nightmares of that day with vengeance completed... a tale, of a tragedy that happens to a young man, and never lets him forget... If he fails in his quest to find & kill her, [directly or indirectly/simply can't or dies] she'll end up spreading more mayhem and despair. So, while his character isn't agreeable, she is a like a plague upon the land, searching for another victim, again and again... it is up to the party to notice this, and to agree on finding the person who is creating monsters out of people while bringing ruin. While Paladins don't get along with him because, Paladins and sensing "evil", he does believe in what they're doing. He knows the cause they stand for, it's just that he himself is twisted where his values are indiscriminate, but he can always be reeled in. Let me know what you think of this character, his story and his flaw and how this could be developed further. Thank you for any thoughts and opinions. If you want to know character details on the sheet so far, let me know. I think I remember most of them, but not the stats, I don't have direct access to it (at a friends house)
@@RustyMerc4Hire Well I'd say you definitely have a well thought out back story, and a well meaning plan for what you want for your halfelf. I would say that his actions and beliefs don't necessarily make him anymore evil than Batman. I think for me the issue is that of understanding of the way alignments work, you see based off of what you put in your post your would be paliden feels more chaotic good (ends justify the means) and less like lawfulevil (more along the lines of Al Capone). How can the palidens detect evil ability since evil in your character? Simple, they are detecting the intent to do evil not actual evil, and regardless of alignment all people can project evil intentions through either words or actions without being evil. So I'd say play your character the way you want, but to be honest if it was me playing him I'd play as a chaotic good fighter/cleric that way he can be perceived as a paliden with all their abilities and few of their weaknesses without actually being a paliden. That my friend would make a much better story for your pally. and if he's going to fall in to darkness chaotic neutral opens you up to playing him as losing his mind and going crazy. Just my thoughts on it, great backstory 8/10.
Same Edit: in the process of making one well, half rogue half necro, planning to make him go mad and poison everyone to only then raise them from the dead and use them, if it comes to that
I once played a necromancer named burkin. He multi classes as a barbarian as well and was ironically true neutral. My party however loved me for my good deeds and seemed to skim over the time I cleaved through a man for threatening to kill his kid in a hostage situation. That wasnt exactly elegant
Az' was short for Azrael, in ambition to be a physical embodiment of the angel of death... of sorts... AND in an ironic and cruel twist, we needed the relic for part of a ritual to save the country from unspeakable darkness... and that meant killing the lich protecting it. BUT the relic was too powerful to leave laying around, even hidden away... SO Az' being the only competent Necromancer had to make the dubious choice of becoming a lich, himself, in order to protect the hidden relic... or risk a lesser undead construct to do the job... AND that only required the willful murder of a loved one, THE most loved... (in our setting) That's probably both my favorite retirement of a PC AND the best application of an ambitious Necromancer without technically breaking the GM or the Game. It was another of those rare "no dry eyes in the castle" moments and we were in a relatively public access lounge to Play... so not even all D&D fan's around it... nobody left unscathed from that session. ;o)
@@felixlavulpe3506 so if he is truly resurrected that means he is no longer basically dead. Doesnt that make him in a sense weaker than before? Or maybe have to change class
@@Victoria4000 He probably became a demi-lich because of his promise, to find a home for his parents and village (plus extra). After doing that, he didn't really need the extra stuff and could go back to truly being himself (just guessing here) :D
@@RPGmaxime You're probably right. The fact that he was basically dead really does probably mean that he was a demi-lich of sorts. Of course, this also means that not all liches are bad people, which I wholeheartedly agree with.
I was devoted to the Grey Necromancer the moment I heard about him in part 1. Parties killing each other is always a touchy issue with me, but this one hits home because I enjoyed Astoshan’s character and I myself have a necromancer that I am devoted to. I loved his story even though it ended so tragically.
Well, since it was while the player was away, I'm sure this was planned.... the player knew that the rest of the team wouldn't like what his character was doing and let the DM turn his character into a boss fight with the knowledge that his (apparently living?) Ring Familiar would be able to resurrect him
Notes from a NG Human Idiot; To my way of thinking, the rest of the party(sans the Dwarf, who actually cared enough) went a little overboard with their response. Like i said last time, Perception and Choice play a large factor in playing a "Dark" PC.If the rest had only asked Mr.Gray what was going on,they wouldn'tve done something they regretted. May your Pantheon ever favor you Baron Trevelyan of Restenford
I listened to these with my sister, and she agrees, especially in the first part, when he snaps the neck of the little girl's body to keep her from being forcefully brought back. She kept shouting how that still screamed a neutral move for a good fifteen, twenty after it was over!
Your sister is very perceptive @BlindEyeNeo, unlike Mr.Gray's party members(sans Dwarf). Here's my question though: What do YOU think? Your sister's stance is obvious, so i'm naturally curious 'bout your opinion of Mr.Gray...
@@johnnysizemore5797 This was a wonderful story. And holy fucking shit. I'm not Blind, but that was a mercy. To prevent a corpse, peacefully passed from coming back from beyond death. A neutral move. The desecration balanced by saving the corpse from something greater than a broken neck. Honestly. This....well, just wow, I'm not typically a emotional type, but wow, this brought out the feels. Thing is, I personally believe Paladins are really Lawful Evil more than anything, considering how they typically just attack others when they "sense" the "evil alignment." I guess you could make a strong argument for Chaotic Good but... I never hear about how they even attempt to convert the others to a better path, or even find out what's wrong. They don't give others a chance, they just go ham at whoever after sensing evil alignment even if they have high political power or extremely important in running the city. Looking at what they're supposed to stand for, I like their code of how they live, but I would never want to play as one. I think the whole alignment system is kind of dumb, this is D&D, it's supposed to be free roam with stories and roleplaying. The way the Paladins' sensing ability works needs changed, sure the alignment system is a nice starting point for figuring out where characters fall, but that's all it should be, a starting point, it has it's own restrictions that are surprisingly hard to play around. Both with character morality freedom for roleplay and the whole thing concerning if Paladins can play with you or not. I just have trouble understanding that particular design choice. I'd rather play as a Cleric over a Paladin, who believes there's some good in everyone no matter how small. That there's still a chance for some of these people to change. Let me know what you think of this character, his story and his flaw and how this could be developed further. Thank you for any thoughts and opinions. If you want to know character details on the sheet so far, let me know. I think I remember most of them, but not the stats, I don't have direct access to it (at a friends house)
@ RustyGun4Hire -- Sounds like a very intresting PC Concept, especially with the backstory. Your Sorcerer would probably be Chaotic Neutral more than Lawful Evil, and here's my reasoning: At this stage of his story, it's all about Vengeance to him. The way you described him, there's no give to morality whatsoever right now. If(and given that this is a ttrpg, near anything can happen) the personal storyline goes the "proper" way, your PC's alignment would shift most likely to Chaotic Good. Due to what happened to him, he's never going to be a Nice Guy(more like Clint Eastwood's character from Gran Tarino), but will have his good qualities ounce you get past the defense. Paladins&Alignment System -- Now before you waste your money on the "Paladinhate Express", hear me out: The Original Paladin subclass(suprisingly, it started out as a Subclass of Cleric in OG AD&D) was intended to represent Crusader & Knights Templar Orders, so they couldn't be given a lot of leeway(especially during the Devil worship scare years) with their Code. A good Paladin roleplayer(yes, those type of folks ARE real, but about as rare as a six-fingered man) will take the Base Code and see how it can be interpreted for their PC backstory. Just remember this 'bout Paladins: They don't consider what they do as Evil so much as what their Religion views as good. The best way to best an NPC Paladin? Don't attack him directly, instead go for the Religious Belief. Now the Alignment tree COULD use some more tweeking, i'll grant you that, but alot of folk don't realize that it's all in how you play your PC, the Tree is there to give you an idea on where to start. As an Example, let's look at the Classic Beluchi Movie "Animal House ": Every single member of the Delta Chau Ti House(save for 2, which i'll get to) was a form of Chaotic, and we as the audience are supposed to consider them the good guys over the "Snooty" Omega Theta Pi who(despite being depicted as jerks in the movie) are Lawful. Our 2 exception to this are Larry Kroger&Kent Dorfman, who started out as true Neutrals(not having any idea about the heated rivalry between the 2 houses). The Dean himself was either Lawful Good or Lawful Neutral, as he could be viewed either as being too heavy-handed with the rules(Delta Chau) or too leniant(?) with said rules(Omega Theta). All the dean was trying to do was maintain order on the campus but kept losing his temper, no more or less. In the End, the alignment tree is there to give both players&DM's a starting point for how a PC/NPC views the abstracts of their world. I hope this long winded rant helped you out some....
The dwarf was the only one who actually tried to get to know Astoshan, and he might have told him about his ring familiar having the ability to cast a resurrection spell. Astoshan might have even told him about trying to give some of the deathless a second chance in a new home, and his parent's bodies being in his pocket dimension.
Dwarf seemed to have no idea about the promise as she didn't explain what was happening to the party when Astoshan was attacking the raider city with his legions. She only knew that whatever Astoshan was doing, it wasn't evil and he probably had a reason to do it since it seemes that she refused to attack him.
Astoshan is one of the greatest characters I have heard about from these DnD storycast. I was wondering if there is a chance Astoshan's creator would release a Build PDF of the character?
Well, i have an idea of what is happening, astoshan reveres a deity right? I think i heard that in the first video, and i think he is ascending to godhood, or becoming a demigod
It is a little less impressive then, i thought is actions represented so well the ideals of his deity that it decided to make him into a demigod or that HIS deity will revive him or something, not his familiar
Gray Dragoon I mean a good spell caster, regardless of the type. Always has a backup plan or a get out of jail free card. You can’t rely on a flippant thing such as a deity. As you may have their favor one day. The next you may not, so astoshans player was a genius for getting it while he could. Knowing that any moment his party could turn on him. Even though he had given no good reason to do so aside from breaking “taboos” to normal people. To a necromancer. It’s just another Tuesday.
I mean, yeah but the divine favor depends on the dm, astoshans player did it so well that if i were a dm i could've give him the chance to roll for fate or something like that, he just played so awesomely.... so hearthwarming for someone who manages the forces of life and death
@@graydragoon874 you have to think that this was mostly planed by the DM and the player. So, the DM, as an all knowing creature, could have acted like he thought Astoshans god would. If you were a god, and knew that one of your followers had everything planed out, would you use your favor when its uneeded?
This gives me an idea for a character. A warforged that is actually a deathless skeleton done up like a warforged to make him or her... Passable. Thing is they don't remember ever being "alive" so they actually think they're warforged. Takes enough damage to reveal the bones: *surprised Pikachu face*
I really love this idea for a necromancer and it has been on my mind for almost a year. Brining back a ton of people you can sympathize with and helping them at least get a taste of what they missed out on. A true ressurection has many limitations and usually needs a cleric connected to a god, or a bard that may not have enough rp potential and spells to justify actively studying death. Reincarnation has a 10 day limit and restricted to druids. Necromancers resort to their own flawed knowledge and power to bring people back. As undead, their bodies rot, and may effect their memories and personality.
Both of these stories gave me chills, I wonder what his backstory is like? Like what started his path to become the gray necromancer? This is just an over all fascinating character.
I have a idea... maybe his mother was killed by raiders and he wanted to bring his mother back to life which he became a necromancer and brung her to “ life “ then joined the party and *story continues* maybe
I thought his fam was killed by maraders(leading to his lost arm) so he became a necromancer to hopefully bring em back however, the marauders still had his home so we was gonna raise his army of undead and take it back, hence his line about fufilling a deal or whatever
Oh my god!!! This is such a great story and makes me want to play a necromancer so bad. This shows how OP if done right one can be. Moment of silence for Astoshan
@@Viraxe_-ye9ef i suppose we do have to wait for another session of that game, im really excited to see what everyones favorite necromancer will do next
I'm relatively new to D&D (haven't even played a single game yet), but i've played a lot of videogames and read many fantasy books, and this is the first time i hear of a necromancer like this, and i love it! whoever made and played Astoshan, The Grey Necromancer, i take off my hat to them. And thank you for bringing this story here where people can hear it, that otherwise would be just a memory for those who played it. P.S: I'm not crying, you're crying!
An awesome story and character development! Really hoping for a part 3! Part one started my mind running on how to build and play my own version of a grey necromancer! Determined his/her race and class but still working on the backstory and potential character development.
It’s the best story I’ve ever heard. Makes me a bit jealous. Wsh i could have such writing talent. The player is a F****** genius and I love the chemistry with his GM. I have a thousand ideas for my next campaign. This made me think about the « Spook’s apprentice » a really good book saga with a grayish point of view just like this story. Thanks a lot Can’t wait for what’s next.
They were raiders, he followed his code to the end, and repaid his promise. He didn't go too far, or not too far... He did exactly what he does. Punishes those who take life, and respects the fallen innocent.
This is really good because everyone seems to be really in character. I mean from the sound of it this group has been playing together for at least a year or two, probably more, and they are probably all very attached to their characters, as well as each other's. But, even so, the Paladin wouldn't be ok with a Necromancer and would be looking for a reason to kill him, even of the player didn't want to. That is some hardcore dedication.
I'm absolutely in love with this story. Who ever came up with this story was a god among men. And your telling is just doing it amazing justice. Keep up the good work, both parties!!!
Did he truly cross the line this time? Heck, crossing lines is something he has always been doing. And raising the zombies, that too. Not to mention that he himself might have transcended death. I honestly don't think he did,as i've explained below. What really makes an Evil(or Good) PC/NPC is their Reactions to what they do. An NPC Paladin might not bat an eye at "Destroying Unbelievers" of his Faith, even IF the unbelievers are good-aligned folks. Others, however, would view the same act as Evil. It just all depends on what said NPC/PC was raised to believe to be right&wrong...
So let me get this straight, this necromancers family and village was destroyed by raiders, so he swore to make them raiders no more and after he got ressurected, his mother as a skeleton embraces him. This is so wholesome in the end but I bet we all would piss our pants if that happened IRL.
i need to ask is this a reupload? i can promise the last astoshan video and this one i've seen them before, when i saw the other video i started searching for this one, cause i remembered there was a second video but didnt find it... everything as i remember names included(i have been searching for it deeper and it is a reddit post, it was freaking me out)
If I had been the DM for this session, that paladin would have 1,000 years of suffering by his god as punishment for is blatant acts of evil. Sitting a fight out while innocents suffer and die, then murdering a neutral character for trying to help said innocents.
Please make more ashtashan stories. I'm a great fan of necromancers and this and part 1 are such a refreshing listen too. Please make or tell more stories of the grey necromancer.
"Only the dwarf knows what is going on. He's the only one who'd talked to Astorshan..." Well that's not a group who does a lot of communication, don't really want to join.
I really hope that there will be a part three because I absolutely love this character and his party’s story. Well done on the narration by the way. It really fits.
I don't think there'd be any witnesses to this battle, other than maybe raider remnants themselves - who aren't gonna report them to the law - or the people that were possibly enslaved by the raiders - who aren't gonna report them either. In some of the settings they'd be criminals just for associating with a known animator though.
@@MrKoraboras perhaps the necromancer made a promise with the leader of the city under raider attacks or with one he encountered and saved in a raider controlled city
The tone, the music, the story, the character and the background. I loved it. Both parts are amazing. This is very good work there, good job for making it happens!
I myself am a lawful good necromancer in 5e and I absolutely loved this. I only raise people who have signed a legal contract giving up their bodies to necromancy after death, and enemy combatants. Astoshan is so Compelling and beautifully done. I'm interested in taking some inspiration for myself.
I have taken so much inspiration from the two VODs of this story for my necromancer that I am playing. I am very much in love with this story and have taken what I can from it to hopefully apply to my character at some point.
A beautiful story, great character and love how Ashtoshan kept most the others in the dark right up till the very end of his revenge, absolutely film worthy.
Holy shit. This was both a good story and good narration. The Part 1/Part 2 format I think works really well for this channel. Each one is self-contained but put them together and you get a bunch of deep context. A+ your work only continues to get better.
I love to hear about necromancers like these. It feels like people always focus on the bad and ugly of necromancy and never on what motivated the caster to go down that road. I really wish there were more stories like this.
Rather than praising this for the good character I want to praise his Player for being one of those few people that actually understands what it means to be Neutral. he did good things by evil means and evil things with good intentions. But no matter what he had a GOAL. You'll see so many people say they're neutral yet they use it as an excuse to be indecisive which just bogs down the game.
Never gets tiring to hear this tale, I have heard it before from other DnD tubers, same poster and everything, and still this gives me goosebumps listening to. A great story
Yep...you did it again, you made me care about a character I never even met. I don't know how you do it, but please keep doing it. And yes...I'm differently crying. 10/10 will rise again.
For real though I love listening to these in my down time on my days off. I hope Astoshan has many more adventures in him or that the rest of these are as entertaining which most have been. Gotta love DND and Pathfinder
My first favorite character was a necromancer in Pathfinder, I played her on and off for over a decade, and she remains close to my heart to this day. I still remember those first few levels of struggle and grinding to feel like I was making headway as a low level magic user. It all payed off in time when I had a skeletal dragon, an army of undead, and so much more.
also, while wiping out an entire city, even if it was just raiders is dark as fuck, after learning that he was raising all of their victims and was going to gift the city to them for them to, and excuse the pun, rest in peace... That could almost make the motherfucker be chaotic good. almost. not quite, but almost. Still, quite the generous act. also, still that ending gets me every time.
In the previous video they said he was pure neutral, those are the best to support so of course I backed him when you asked us at the end of the video.
Please let there be more to this story! Ashtoshan has by far the most captivating story I've ever heard in any dnd campaign. Also, typically I loathe dwarves, but the one here has something to him that allows him to see past the 'righteous' crap that the paladin and druid have been spewing.
Wow. Hats off to the dm of this group. Last and only time I played a necromancy I had to fight for every corpse I got and had to buy their equipment. Wizards are not made of coin. If you ask me the necromancer in this story has not crossed a single line. He is fighting for those who had fallen. Righting a wrong and giving a second chance to those who were robbed. He was doing what was in his power to do to keep a promise and that is one of the most noble things one can do.
I feel that whomever controlled the necromancer at the end (player or GM, it wasn’t really clear) was deliberately omitting information to the other players so that they would attack him. It was a conflict engineered for the sake of there being conflict.
Finally a good written necromancer! And the player and DM are splendid to throw over most of the party like this. To blow their hypocracy into their faces like this! God damn it! I got shivers!
This character just keeps getting better! The fact that the party (most at least) didn't bother finding out more about the grey necromancer but still passes judgement upon him is just a great dynamic. Hats off to the player and dm for making such a great sounding campaign. I've been reading it's hard making large scale battles where the players feel engaged and important and not overly powerful.
Ive never doubted him for a second! Plus they were raiders evident by the all the skeletons from the villages they pillaged. They killed countless people and were beyond redemption. In my eyes the party (besides the dwarf) was too blind in their roles to look at the greater picture or put faith in a party member they have been traveling with and has given no evidence of being evil.
Honestly this sounds more like the other players are just getting pissy because the guy running Astoshan figured out a way to OP his character before level 20.
Lawful Stupid? Seriously, communication with a longtime party member, particularly one with a history of blunt honesty, isn’t hard. Astoshan could also have volunteered some information, beyond the vague “I’m fulfilling a promise” non answer.

His alignment is ”I don’t fucking care“
@@requiemlul3140 well he did actually care
The line "It's okay mom, I'm alright" gives ALL the weight his actions need to push him to lawful neutral. He brought justice. It took time, lots of time. But he avenged everyone those raiders killed. I wouldn't be surprised if his alignment shifts closer to lawful, or if he gets noticed by a God

Yeahp
Goes to show that not all palidens get the big picture, but assume that dabbling in the dark arts is evil regardless of the facts.
Nah since the dwarf helped kill him i said he evil too
@@lukeshort2960 Yeah, Paladins are in actuality Lawful Evil.
[He's a Sorcerer with a lot of latent talent, should bring that up; Half Human/Elf]
A very stark character, how could he possibly be redeemed if that's where his heart is?

How do i deal with having to roll for 9999 skeletons each 1 turn?
I really hope there's more to aztoshans story, he is by far my favourite use of a necromancer.
(in our setting)
That's probably both my favorite retirement of a PC AND the best application of an ambitious Necromancer without technically breaking the GM or the Game. It was another of those rare "no dry eyes in the castle" moments and we were in a relatively public access lounge to Play... so not even all D&D fan's around it... nobody left unscathed from that session. ;o)

Paladins&Alignment System -- Now before you waste your money on the "Paladinhate Express", hear me out:
The Original Paladin subclass(suprisingly, it started out as a Subclass of Cleric in OG AD&D) was intended to represent Crusader & Knights Templar Orders, so they couldn't be given a lot of leeway(especially during the Devil worship scare years) with their Code.
"it's ok mom, I'm alright"
Only the dwarf knows, Dwarf Knows, DWARF KNOWS!
But seriously I have no idea what that means, what happened, "knows" what!

Well, i have an idea of what is happening, astoshan reveres a deity right? I think i heard that in the first video, and i think he is ascending to godhood, or becoming a demigod
The Morning Glory, specifically.
And no, his ring familiar had True Resurrection as an ability. He paid a LOT of money and xp for that.

I NEED MORE OF THIS NECROMANCER! I COULD SIT HERE FOR DAYS LISTENING TO THE STORY ABOUT THIS GUY! PLEASE MAKE MORE!
Thanks a lot
Can’t wait for what’s next.
They were raiders, he followed his code to the end, and repaid his promise. He didn't go too far, or not too far... He did exactly what he does. Punishes those who take life, and respects the fallen innocent.
The party were the ones in the wrong. They should have talked to him. Figured out what was up.
A scary thought indeed...
Don’t forget to share your thoughts and theories in the comments section.
Watch Part 1 of this story where the Mighty Necromancer flashed his shades of gray in a gripping tale here:

All Things DnD maybe one of destroyed town/city civilians or his mother wanted revenge on raiders so he did what he did
HAIL THE GREY ONE
This is so wholesome in the end but I bet we all would piss our pants if that happened IRL.
i need to ask is this a reupload?
i can promise the last astoshan video and this one i've seen them before, when i saw the other video i started searching for this one, cause i remembered there was a second video but didnt find it... everything as i remember names included(i have been searching for it deeper and it is a reddit post, it was freaking me out)
Hope there’s a part 3 I could listen to these story’s all the time
If I had been the DM for this session, that paladin would have 1,000 years of suffering by his god as punishment for is blatant acts of evil.
He's the only one who'd talked to Astorshan..."
Well that's not a group who does a lot of communication, don't really want to join.
I really hope that there will be a part three because I absolutely love this character and his party’s story. Well done on the narration by the way. It really fits.
Really cool character! I just dont understand why everybody seems to be triggered so badly by an E on the character sheet.
Google the Lich-Loved feat. Astoshan was a very unsettling person to be around.
For my area, its the LG. A large number of the other RPGers always want to insert a S into that LG.
@@felixlavulpe3506 You mean the one from the Book of Vile Darkness? Because that is pretty twisted, I'll give you that.
Plot twist we later find out the the party members are now wanted criminals for siding with the raiders.
Yeah, this one got me crying on my lunch break. These two stories were really good and done very well
Okay but astoshan is my favorite necromancer ever someone get this guy a book deal or a lisence to make his stories into, like, an anime or something
A beautiful story, great character and love how Ashtoshan kept most the others in the dark right up till the very end of his revenge, absolutely film worthy.
All of them except the dwarf were just being untrustworthy A holes to him
He was pretty much trolling them all, so...
In their defense, Astoshan was being very mysterious and the entire party felt like he could stab them in the back at any point
Holy shit. This was both a good story and good narration. The Part 1/Part 2 format I think works really well for this channel. Each one is self-contained but put them together and you get a bunch of deep context. A+ your work only continues to get better.
Was watching something else and saw this and immediately stopped everything I was doing
This is actually amazing, I got shudders from hearing this. I would love to hear more about the necromancer
Hell yes I was rooting for Astoshan! That character is amazing!!!
I love to hear about necromancers like these. It feels like people always focus on the bad and ugly of necromancy and never on what motivated the caster to go down that road. I really wish there were more stories like this.
I love Astoshan. He is my favorite type of player.
Will the player have a personal skeleton deck out in armor to defend the necromancer
“It’s okay mom, I’m alright” OH THAT H U R T
Yep...you did it again, you made me care about a character I never even met. I don't know how you do it, but please keep doing it. And yes...I'm differently crying. 10/10 will rise again.
i love this character, i'd so love to play a necromancer like this in dnd
For real though I love listening to these in my down time on my days off. I hope Astoshan has many more adventures in him or that the rest of these are as entertaining which most have been. Gotta love DND and Pathfinder
I love a story with a good comic ending.
I just noticed. I think he became a necromancer to bring back his family from the dead
That so emotional😭
Your voice throughout these two videos is haunting. It makes the story come to life. I look forward to another chapter of Aztoshan's story.
What? The Necromancer has a phylactery? Big surprise. =P
Really good story. I hope we get to hear some more!
Omg that ending kicked me straight in the feels. ow my heart.
also, while wiping out an entire city, even if it was just raiders is dark as fuck, after learning that he was raising all of their victims and was going to gift the city to them for them to, and excuse the pun, rest in peace... That could almost make the motherfucker be chaotic good. almost. not quite, but almost. Still, quite the generous act. also, still that ending gets me every time.
In the previous video they said he was pure neutral, those are the best to support so of course I backed him when you asked us at the end of the video.
Your voice works perfectly with this story, thank you
I’M NOT CRYING YOU ARE! ;-; (this story must continue i refuse to believe we wont get a part 3)
Please let there be more to this story! Ashtoshan has by far the most captivating story I've ever heard in any dnd campaign. Also, typically I loathe dwarves, but the one here has something to him that allows him to see past the 'righteous' crap that the paladin and druid have been spewing.
I would have made him ascend to a TN god of protection, community, and undeath.
Except for the dwarf, the party never asked.
Finally a good written necromancer! And the player and DM are splendid to throw over most of the party like this. To blow their hypocracy into their faces like this! God damn it! I got shivers!
HE IS THE PUREST OF THE WHOLE PARTY AND I LOVE HIM!!!!
There must be more! I need more! Also, glad the dwarf still had some faith in him.
For things like this is why I like d&d
I'm actually quite impressed with the character that was made. Well done, to whoever made Astoshan.
Thank you!
I love this character
He's walking the line, always in the middle, never on one or the other side. Gray personified.
Honestly this sounds more like the other players are just getting pissy because the guy running Astoshan figured out a way to OP his character before level 20.
Necromancer transcended death and became the first wholesome Lich pc.
Never occurred to the pally to ask, “Hey Ash. Wut u doin’ bruh?”
Paladin was playing a Lawful paragon type, one that does very little critical thinking and simply acts by their code
Lawful Stupid? Seriously, communication with a longtime party member, particularly one with a history of blunt honesty, isn’t hard.
Astoshan could also have volunteered some information, beyond the vague “I’m fulfilling a promise” non answer.
I am hoping that there's a part three because this is like a perfect Animated Series right there
I needed this.
To the All Things narrator, I have to admire your voice. Your have great vocal talent. I love how you can shift your tone to ominous to joyful depending on the story. I've meant to say this awhile ago.
