I think sometimes celebs get scored based on how a dance compares to their previous dances, rather than how good it is generally (or how it compares to the other contestants dances).

I've re watched it a few times because it was soo quick in places I didn't want to miss anything..under marked in my humble opinion though..Tom over marked as was Tilly..Rhys was awful..too much staccato to be an American SMOOTH..the clue is in the title..he deserves to be in the bottom two..his steps are still too big..

I've watched some other Argentine Tangos and I've realised what made AJ and Kai so special. In most ATs they are throwing their heads all over the place. Kai rarely took his eyes off AJ and when he did you could see that his attention was still on her... magical.

They were extremely underscored. 35 points?! They deserved +38. Absolutely amazing routine, they nailed it! That chemistry was outstanding. Can we just talk about AJ's leghs?! So elegant and gorgeous lines. So unfair with the scores.
It took my back to Alexandra Burkes's Argentine Tango. The hold, the lifts, the musicality, the lines, the ganchos, the spotting just everything was beautiful. It was one of the strongest Argentine Tango's ever and it was beautifully choreographed. Kai is obviously an amazing choreographer and I think he is helping AJ masivelly. I think she is quite possibly the best dancer with no experience ever on strictly come dancing. Like this is immaculate for only week 5 and in my opinion was scored to low. That sequence of side by side and lift into the end was to die for. Honestly such a good dance and an amazing improvement on last week *10/10* gorgeously done

Should have been at least all 9s. I don’t know what Craig and especially Motsi were on. Motsi had no issues with it yet gave it the same score as Rhys, who she did have problems with. Undermarked again, at least Shirley and Anton know what they’re talking about.

One of the perks of not knowing who most of the "celebrities" are is that I am sometimes surprised when I assume I know who the professional dancer is and I'm wrong. Wow. AJ is amazing! I felt like I was watching something very private between two people. Apparently I'm a perv so I'm going to watch it again 😉

Bruno will be back next year, he would be under the table with this dance and he would have given a 10, methinks. I love Anton as a judge and it will be a great shame when he no longer does it as he is brilliant. I love his comments and he brings humour and praise. I loved this dance.

Having 3 of the 4 be ballroom & latin experts is much better for the competition - the constructive criticism from Anton is better for the celebs than Bruno falling off of his chair, as entertaining as that is.
I cant stop watching this dance. Argentine Tango is my favourite dance and this is my favourite version. I literally found myself holding my breath whilst watching. My vote to win!
...God... 😮 Ok, I can see why people think they have seen. That is definitely one of the strongest Argentine Tangos I have ever seen. So theatrical! Unique. I have been seeing the same thing for ages. I agree with Shirley. That was Championship level! She can dance sooo much! That was incredibly powerful and sexy. It was fire!! 🔥 AJ and Kai have such a fantastic partnership chemistry that allows them to sell each dance! And that music! Perfect! They shouldn't have got 8s. They should have got more 10s!!
Best ever Argentine tango on strictly. Did the judges not see what we saw or did they see something that we missed? It definitely deserved more than eights come on judges.
Honestly refreshing that a strong female celeb isn’t getting labelled as cocky by this public this year… it’s been so refreshing following amazing past contestants such as Alexandra, Ashley & Maisie who were all labelled big headed just for being talented and confident women. Well she truly hasn't had theatre school training, and she's so joyous and natural and doesn't hide how chuffed she is. Good for her. No hate for any of them, but stage school training and actirs have an advantagr how matter how much they play it down. How is it fair a Pussy Cat Doll is a contestant I'll never quite understand, but I appreciate watching some contestants with a levelbof competence as it's pleasing to watch.
I think that was less about being strong women, and more about being highly trained dancers. Ashley is a dancer. She was in PCD for her dance ability, not her vocals. Alexandra is a west end performer so was more than competent as a dancer before strictly, and obviously was used to choreo from her music career too. Maisie is stage school trained and was already popular on Tiktok for doing a lot of dance stuff. I think AJ is way more impressive as she started from nothing but just has an innate talent for dance.
Oh. My. Word. THE dance of the night in my opinion. Those four backward walks after she went into hold gave me goosebumps, they were executed flawlessly. She has been working on her feet, and her leg lines were submlime. This was thrilling and undermarked on the night. A big resounding 10 from me :)
I had to watch it again as I was focusing on their upper bodies and suddenly thought "is she moonwalking?!" coz that's what it looked like. Sublime and as Shirley said "World championship level"....in 5 weeks!!!
@@SolFaithman shirly has never performed Argentine tango competitively. She has certainly never judged it. No strictly at has ever come remotely close to world championship level. Not surprising as it is extremely difficult to learn and for the most part the pros are also having to learn it. Only Flavia and Vincent were AT specialists. As the judges do not really know what they are looking for there is no need to pull heavy duty on correct technique... the dance on strictly is more about show and passion.
@@han-oq6bo If I can add some context - Shirley's 'world championship' comment was specifically about how AJ executed the backwards walks, using weight distribution to roll back toe, ball, heel. These are danced in International Tango as well as in AT, although they look far more spectacular in the AT due to the posture. I've never danced or taught AT myself, so aside from some characteristics that I can see are similar to a ballroom Tango, my benchmark is how much I enjoyed the performance. Put these two on the floor next to Flavia and Vincent and yes, you absolutely will see the difference in class. But on the show ... I totally enjoyed it and would have marked it a 10. Out of interest, do you have any recommendations on who to watch in AT circles?

Other than flavia and Vincent the easiest couple to find on youtube doing Argentine tango is Dmitry Vasin and Sagdiana Khamzina or him with previous dance partner esmer omerova as they have done show dances. Emmanuel Casal and Yanina Muzyka and Agustin Agnez and Barbara Ferreyra are the current world champions in the two Argentine tango styles

Apart from the fact that I think that edge of seventeen is more suited to a tango vs Argentine tango, so the dance had that sharpness/staccato of a ballroom tango, it was so well danced by AJ! Good lord those legs were amazing!

They absolutely nailed that atmosphere! I usually prefer more traditional music for the Argentine tango but I did like the flavour they went for here, it felt like a different take on it and I think it worked for AJ and Kai. The one couple I feel never need to work on their chemistry because it clearly comes so naturally! 🔥

Wow, wow, WOW. Spine-tingling. I just love the Argentine Tango when the chemistry is off the scale but refined, controlled and not lewd . Only a few performances are as mesmerising as this: Gethin Jones and Camilla Dallerup, and 2 others with Gio - Faye Tozer and of course Debbie McGee. Kai has done an impressive job here.
I was on tenterhooks the whole time! They were amazing, didn’t like the song for a tango but now yes perfect song! I wonder what the Craig and Motsi saw, because me and Shirley were on the same wavelength! Thrilling, lovely lines, well executed, passion wow!

Having 3 of the 4 be ballroom & latin experts is much better for the competition - the constructive criticism from Anton is better for the celebs than Bruno falling off of his chair, as entertaining as that is.
I cant stop watching this dance. Argentine Tango is my favourite dance and this is my favourite version. I literally found myself holding my breath whilst watching. My vote to win!

Ok, I can see why people think they have seen. That is definitely one of the strongest Argentine Tangos I have ever seen. So theatrical! Unique. I have been seeing the same thing for ages. I agree with Shirley. That was Championship level! She can dance sooo much! That was incredibly powerful and sexy. It was fire!! 🔥 AJ and Kai have such a fantastic partnership chemistry that allows them to sell each dance! And that music! Perfect! They shouldn't have got 8s. They should have got more 10s!!

Well she truly hasn't had theatre school training, and she's so joyous and natural and doesn't hide how chuffed she is. Good for her. No hate for any of them, but stage school training and actirs have an advantagr how matter how much they play it down. How is it fair a Pussy Cat Doll is a contestant I'll never quite understand, but I appreciate watching some contestants with a levelbof competence as it's pleasing to watch.
I think that was less about being strong women, and more about being highly trained dancers. Ashley is a dancer. She was in PCD for her dance ability, not her vocals.
Alexandra is a west end performer so was more than competent as a dancer before strictly, and obviously was used to choreo from her music career too.
Maisie is stage school trained and was already popular on Tiktok for doing a lot of dance stuff.
I think AJ is way more impressive as she started from nothing but just has an innate talent for dance.

Oh. My. Word. THE dance of the night in my opinion. Those four backward walks after she went into hold gave me goosebumps, they were executed flawlessly. She has been working on her feet, and her leg lines were submlime. This was thrilling and undermarked on the night. A big resounding 10 from me :)
I had to watch it again as I was focusing on their upper bodies and suddenly thought "is she moonwalking?!" coz that's what it looked like. Sublime and as Shirley said "World championship level"....in 5 weeks!!!
@@SolFaithman shirly has never performed Argentine tango competitively. She has certainly never judged it. No strictly at has ever come remotely close to world championship level. Not surprising as it is extremely difficult to learn and for the most part the pros are also having to learn it. Only Flavia and Vincent were AT specialists. As the judges do not really know what they are looking for there is no need to pull heavy duty on correct technique... the dance on strictly is more about show and passion.
@@han-oq6bo If I can add some context - Shirley's 'world championship' comment was specifically about how AJ executed the backwards walks, using weight distribution to roll back toe, ball, heel. These are danced in International Tango as well as in AT, although they look far more spectacular in the AT due to the posture. I've never danced or taught AT myself, so aside from some characteristics that I can see are similar to a ballroom Tango, my benchmark is how much I enjoyed the performance. Put these two on the floor next to Flavia and Vincent and yes, you absolutely will see the difference in class. But on the show ... I totally enjoyed it and would have marked it a 10. Out of interest, do you have any recommendations on who to watch in AT circles?

Other than flavia and Vincent the easiest couple to find on youtube doing Argentine tango is Dmitry Vasin and Sagdiana Khamzina or him with previous dance partner esmer omerova as they have done show dances.
Emmanuel Casal and Yanina Muzyka and Agustin Agnez and Barbara Ferreyra are the current world champions in the two Argentine tango styles

Apart from the fact that I think that edge of seventeen is more suited to a tango vs Argentine tango, so the dance had that sharpness/staccato of a ballroom tango, it was so well danced by AJ! Good lord those legs were amazing!

They absolutely nailed that atmosphere! I usually prefer more traditional music for the Argentine tango but I did like the flavour they went for here, it felt like a different take on it and I think it worked for AJ and Kai. The one couple I feel never need to work on their chemistry because it clearly comes so naturally! 🔥

Wow, wow, WOW. Spine-tingling. I just love the Argentine Tango when the chemistry is off the scale but refined, controlled and not lewd . Only a few performances are as mesmerising as this: Gethin Jones and Camilla Dallerup, and 2 others with Gio - Faye Tozer and of course Debbie McGee. Kai has done an impressive job here.
