Great job.
I have actually been doing this for a while myself.
Because my hair from the front (ear to ear) is lighter, I has to be strategic with the clips and I stumbled on this same concept.
Advice on your real hair poking out in any ponytail... part your perimeter hairline, lay a 3 clip or longer extention facing towards your ponytail covering the majority of your real hair and then lay your small perimeter hair over it to cover the tracks.
I really do hope that made sense.

Clip ins are truly the key. I’m able to put them in and take them out at night and care for my hair. I love them! I also dont have to flat iron my hair because of the blend. I always do half up half down, and trying to figure out some different styles.
