Awesome job! Going to do my 2002 2nd Gen this winter. Really can't wait to get the frame all cleaned up and painted with this POR 15. Going with the Semi-Gloss. Thanks for sharing and great job.
I'd top coat it with a topcoat paint after all that work, why chance uv issues. I think you did a great job. I'm watching all the por15 videos before I do mine. Good luck with truck restoration.
why didnt you show the steps of actually applying it? the directions read to keep in wet for any where from 10 minutes to 30 minutes depending on the type of substrate.. it would have been good to see actually what you applied it with and how you "kept it wet" the entire time..
Hey bud, that frame turned out looking real nice. I'm restoring an '85 D150 and looking to do the same. I know you said you had leftovers of everything, but I was wondering if you think you could have gotten away with just a pint of the rust preventative or if buying a quart was actually needed.
Looks great man👍🏼 I can appreciate all the work you done as I’m doing my 88 Ford ranger 4x4 super cab now. Did you brush it on? Also what types of brushes or other applicators did you use?
Ah okay. Im not offroading with my Chevy, so mud aint the biggest issue, but salt, thats the pain. But have been thinking about a power washer to clean it more often.
I just wish por15 prep wasnt so extensive. If you want to do a really good job and only do it once it takes a couple of days of time which i just dont have. Looks amazing tho
I would think you’re good with salt, rock chips are going to take out any type of paint after a long time but you can always spray a clear coat of the high abrasion paint if you drive on dirt roads a lot.
Bud, I hate to rain on your parade, but i feel like you didn't follow por15's instructions very well: 1. Remove dirt and "loose" rust, not "all" rust. Por15 adheres better to a rusty surface than a bare metal surface. Just remove anything thats flaky & loose. 2. The cleaner degreaser is a soap. You said you used soap & water afterward, you didn't need to, and it may have left behind residue. 3. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to let the Metal Ready Prep dry on the metal, keep it wet for 20-30 minutes, then rinse off with plain water. 4. I hope you protected you cab from this stuff, i don't know how it affects paint. 5. You're supposed to apply the 2nd coat of por15 once the first coat has just dried enough to not come off when you gently touch it. Typically within a couple hours, depending on the heat and humidity, not the next day. If you do wait too long, then your supposed to scuff up the first coat before applying the 2nd coat. Por15 really needs a rough surface with "tooth" to adhere to, which is why rust (but not loose rust) is better than bare smooth metal, and why you must etch bare metal. Hopefully your coating holds up regardless.
Dude you're showing a before and after. You didn't show how you applied it. What was the purpose of the video if you only show the rust before and the p0r15 after. Make that make sense.
Dude. Stop wasting your time with silly hand tools. Die grinder and flat grinders using wire wheels all the way to the bare metal. And no water. Remove rust using rust mort. Way better plan here. Just did my 97 frame.
I send this to so many people for guidance. Great work.
Thank you I really appreciate that

Thank you sir. Good luck with yours as well!
what top coat do i use after my 2 coats
Great job, thanks for uploading. Love the POR 15 products!
You bet!

Man that looks clean as a whisle. Did you do under the cab frame also?
Thank you. Unfortunately I didn’t get around to it before selling the truck.

Thank you man, yes I would say that the quart is needed for the entire frame. I didn’t use a whole lot of the cleaner degreaser though
Subscribed. I have a really clean 03 ranger. Nothing at all as cool as this but I want to keep it clean, so this is very useful to see.
Good to hear brother. Keep the danger ranger clean and purdy!
Looks great man👍🏼 I can appreciate all the work you done as I’m doing my 88 Ford ranger 4x4 super cab now. Did you brush it on? Also what types of brushes or other applicators did you use?
Thank you man. Yes I brushed it on. One large brush for the wide open areas and a small one for the tight spots.
Good work and attention to detail...
Im looking to paint my chassis aswell, and found out about POR15. Is it possible to clean it with hot water and ammonia aswell?
That I’m not sure about. I would just power wash when you get mud or salt from the roads on your frame
Ah okay. Im not offroading with my Chevy, so mud aint the biggest issue, but salt, thats the pain. But have been thinking about a power washer to clean it more often.
That is a first gen dodge ram brother. The first gen Cummins was in the 1920s.
Where did you purchase the Port 15
Pretty sure Amazon!
Planning to do the same for my car. How is it lasting? Any Rust?
None!
That’s dedication !
Thank you sir!
How about the front half?
Did you buy a kit or everything Individually
I bought the kit! You can buy individually too though!
They need to call this paint over dirt
your bed mounts are separating from the frame lol , especially the rear right one
Spray or roll on?
Roll on
How much of the can did it take to cover the rear half of the frame?
Half to 3/4 of the can. Still have a good amount left!

por15 good against salt , rocks ?

U ever considered a wire wheel on a angle grinder?
Seems like it would work pretty good!
I was thinking the same, Nice brass wheel to not tear it all up!! Now I just need a shop!! LOL
Can you P O R leaf springs?
Yes
VERY GOOD YHANKS...
Thank you for the support
When are you doing the 4x4 conversion 😂 😂 😂
Check out my most recent video
That frame would be swiss cheese in upstate NY . Seen many. Looks like it went thru 1/2 a winter.
Yeah man. It really wasn’t bad at all! Texas has some clean rigs
@@keeprtuned Yep, if you don't protect here, it is gone in a few years. Esp dodge stuff.

Not sure why you’re wasting your time.. that frame will last a lifetime as is in your area. You should see a frame from the north east
Hoping to move to the north at some point, doing some preventative maintenance
Not a waste of time if it helps preserves the frame for years to come. You just sound lazy.
A wire brush works better
Been using that on my new w250 front axle!
