***UPDATE***Just a few things..I mistakenly referred to this laptop as a 2-in-1 convertible on a few occasions in this video. There is a Yoga version of this as well, but I have the clamshell version. Also, not sure what happened in the intro regarding the white background for a few seconds. It rendered properly but something happened when UA-cam processed it I guess. No big deal. Anyway thanks for watching
Another detail is that it's configurable up to 32GB LPDDR, instead of 16GB as mentioned in the video. Maybe not yet available through the webshop, but definitely doable via a CTO. EDIT: Quite interesting, I now see that the US site doesn't offer 32GB RAM, nor the 2560x1600 screen option, but for instance the UK one does - www.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/thinkpad/x-series/X13-G2/p/22TPX13X3N2
Ordered one today from Lenovo with 16gb of ram and 512gb SSD +1080p camera, I did get a chance to try this laptop at B&H and I really liked the WUXGA screen.
Had this laptop for a about a month and I really like it, it's very quick and very solidly build. It feels like a quality when you touch it or look at it. I really wanted a laptop that can take reasonable amount of abuse, and I really glad I chose this ThinkPad.
@@Pamven It has been good, Only Issue I had was a WLAN driver update that disabled my wifi, I had to re-install it manually, other than that It's been great. I would probably go for Carbon x1 right now, they are relatively cheap as of today.
I kinda saw this coming when I ordered my x13 AMD. Since I've only been waiting on the order for just shy of a month I just put a ticket in to cancel that order. I saw they have the x13 gen 2 AMDs out as pre-configured now. I guess it's just another waiting game for them to let me configure one with a CAC reader and hopefully the 5g card. The newer ram is just specked so much better that I couldn't keep the gen 1 order with it being soldered in.
16gb RAM should be the bare minimum in 2021! My mid range phone has 8GB of RAM . Heck, 10 year old laptops like the Thinkpad E320 can be upgraded to 16gb!
This processor i5-1135g7 (4 cores) is better than my i7-8850h (6 cores). I have this in my X1 extreme gen 1. Seems like now with every gen, performance getting improved at least 5-10%, unlike the old days.
This is a good PC. Like the easy access to the inside although there is not much one can upgrade. For a 720p webcam the image was a little above average from most of the 720p PC's you reviewed but still not that great. The microphone sounded badly muffled which kind of ruins it for video conferencing. In looking on their Website for configurations the only one with an I7 processor starts is around 2000 dollars. The good thing is they are available for immediate shipping. I think the HP Spectre 13.5 inch gives one a lot more for their money. Anyway an excellent review as always.
I have the HP Spectre 13.5". Overall a good unit BUT the touchpad drives me crazy sometimes. If you notice on the Lenovo in this video the the touchpad is centered between the G and H keys on the keyboard. On the Spectre its centered over the J key so when typing the left side palm of my hand constantly touches the touchpad, moving the mouse to another random spot on the page. Honestly it's now a show stopper for me when looking at new laptops. I like that Lenovo has the touchpad shifted slightly left which I miss greatly (I've owned several Lenovo's and really like the X series).
Superb review as always, covering all the details and highlighting the important aspects. Andrew, one request, can you please review some AMD based business laptops using Zen 3? Saw that some pre configured HP ProBook series G8 laptops are available with 5600u and 5800u...the 455, 445 and 435 G8 models. Sadly all are having that 250 nits 60% sRGB panel... configurable models with 400 nits panels are expected to be delivered on December. Also waiting for your review of new Acer Swift X 14 with 5800u and rtx 3050 Ti max Q. After all, AMDTech without AMD laptop reviews doesn't look right :D
I have been using the AMD version of this laptop with a Ryzen Pro and Win 11 Pro setup. While everything else is good, the chassis was below my expectations. Both left and right edges on either side of trackpad make squeaky noise when pressed. I got the chassis replaced by Lenovo but it started squeaking again within 6 months. While magnesium is a wonderful material to hold onto, Lenovo should have done a better job during QA of chassis. Also HDMI port sometimes fails to connect in one attempt and you have to press the wire. However, keyboard is a gem, matte screen is perfect for work considering I am mostly on Excel, Word or Powerpoint when not in meetings. Its a perfect business laptop minus the issues highlighted
Andrew, i got lenovo yoga c940 couple of days back. It had the screen flickering issue but its about a graphic driver and i was managed to solve it. Enjoying it!!!
Thanks for the sharing. A quick question, how does the touchpad clicking feel? Can you use the same force to click on different portions of the touchpad?
Love the sideview close-up of keyboard and backlit keyboard demonstration! Perhaps worth to notice that weird bar on the rear side of top of the screen, what does it do if it was clamshell? I noticed th fan exhausts air to the right side, warms your mouse hand or might annoy nearby colleagues?? :)
Hey Andrew great review - any plans on reviewing Gen3 with the 6680u? It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the speedy memory the new Gen3 has
On that keyboard with the 1.5mm travel, how does it compare (and how does the rest of the machine compare) to the T14 gen 2 with the same AMD processor? Is the keyboard noticeably worse on the X13? Is there a quality differential between the two?
Amazing review video. Here is what I think of this laptop. The school required all students to buy this laptop for school purposes. Everyone's laptop kept having issues, so much things kept on breaking every day. After about a year of using this laptop, my computer caught on fire during class while simply running school programs. Changing all the internal components with insurance cost me about 800 dollars. I think this is a horrible laptop and there are much better laptops you could buy for the exact same price. This is just my opinion, if you love this laptop I mean no disrespect to you.
nice review. But do you know why this year nearly every oem has been soldering there WIFI cards? I assume its due to qualcomm 5g cards but still. That has been a huge turn off for me for this years laptops.
Hello. wonderful review. Question, I have been considering getting a Lenovo ThinkPad x13 gen 2 EVO i5 from my cell phone provider. In your opinion, would this be able to handle simple AUTOCAD 2018 for easy editing (nothing major)? I have a dedicated (gaming) laptop as the workhorse for my AUTOCAD work. Thank you for your time.

Yes, soon
What's basically a think pad? for the performance as gaming? a whole day bettery for business?
Thanks for the sharing. A quick question, how does the touchpad clicking feel? Can you use the same force to click on different portions of the touchpad?
how is gaming on this thing? I can get work done for business on a cheap $100 laptop so was wondering how would this thing hold up for gaming

Do you know anything more about the release date of the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro AMD this year?
Is this laptop color the classic dark black or the new lighter black? Thank you.
What's the main difference between this and the Carbon? Is it the weight?
Weight is a big part of it.
The camera and mic is good enough
What is the part number please?
Hi David, do you think the 300 nits and antiglare are good enough to work outside? Thanks.
Should be fine since it has anti-glare on it.
Wait, is this really a 2 in 1 convertible WITHOUT a touchscreen? Is that a valid combination?
This is the clamshell not 2-in-1. I mistakenly said it was a convertible.
