- I still dont have the correct answer to a lot of his moves, but it was still an enjoyable fight !
If you are interested in the build i used :
I was around level 185 (i took some levels after this bossfight so i don't remember exactly which level i was)
Scadutree blessing (14)
VIG 60 | MIN 15 | END 45 | STR 60 | DEX 60 | INT 9 | FAI 14 | ARC 9
Weapon : Dane's Footwork +25 (Quality)
Talismans :
Crimson Seed Talisman +1
Shattered Stone Talisman

Blue Dancer Charm
Damn I did not think of using backstep to dodge the spam clone attack could be that effective. Great run!
I just managed to beat him with Cold +25 Dryleaf Arts yesterday without summons. Playing on mouse and keyboard too. It took... a very, very long time. I spammed Dryleaf Whirlwind with Shard of Alexander. I ended up taking Blue Dancer's off in the end - my talismans were Shard of Alexander, Dragoncrest Greatshield, Miquella's Braid and Rotten Sword Insignia. Level was a little over 200 with 16 or 17 Scadutree.
You're much better at this boss than me. You deal with the meteor attack in Phase 2 in particular very elegantly. I never got the hang of dodging the flashier moves in Phase 2. I'd have been so happy to get the triple jump at 2:39! But it goes to show how little room for error there is. Even when you were playing perfectly for so long, one slip-up and you're down to a slither of health. Also, that stupid triple cross slash attack always comes out too fast for me to react. Was the bane of my life.
I also tried to play around Dryleaf Whirlwind at first, but I struggled finding good openings for it and this boss punishes mistakes too severly, so I quickly gave up on this strategy.
Nice job beating him this way !
also curse this triple slash attack, this combo is clearly overtuned, it's impossible to dodge without specific placement and requires the player to always expect it, I would be surprised if it remains unchanged.
Legit insane i cant beat him with 3 summons yet and ur just going straight hand

@@PandaSap thollier and sir ansbach are available, thollier you need to do his questline I think, then you can summon your own ash or mimic
Do the npc quests 2 of them thiollier and ansbach u can summon before the boss + your spirit ashes
When you summon the two NPC outside, doesn't that increase his damage and health?
It does by alot but only his health i think so its not rly worth it i only used mimic to beat him in the end

I also used hand to hand arts, with cold infusion and endure as the skill. My strat is tanking most of his attack with endure. Managed to win the fight with 7 crimson flasks left. It probably won't work on ng+ beyond, but who knows
I dont know if the endure start will work later but a frost or bleed infusion could a good choice on higher NG+ cycles, I should give it a try

@@captbaldy spent way too many hours trying to figure out an answer to every move, this boss destroyed me the first time I encountered him, I had to take revenge !
What was the ash of war on your fists? Was it bloodhound step?

I only tried pure Physical and Frost, Frost seems stronger, but I didn't tested other infusions so I can't say if flame would be good
Damn hiw did u block the barrage attacks from above when he flies down
You need to guard the illusions and dodge the last hit, I like to dodge the last one to the left,
The number of illusions before the true hit depends on the situation, by exemple if he does the barrage attack after throwing the rocks there are 5 hits, so I guard the 4 first hits and dodge the 5th to the left
@@toucan1677so are the illusions doing less guard damage as a mechanic or are you using something to reduce them
@@Lewting2000 I don't know ! I just unlocked Radahn on my 2nd run and now i'm taking cheap damage when I guard the illusions, I tried switching to the exact same build I used on this record but it doesn't change anything.
So I'm truly confused, maybe it's because of the NG+, or I missed an optionnal content, or it was changed in the recent patch.
If anyone knows the reason i'm interested.
How did you manage to block the barrage attacks without receiving damage bro? I've tried and tried and still got a small damage from that.
I replayed the dlc on NG+ and this time I also took damage when blocking this attack, I was very confused at first because I thought guarding was the intended answer but now I realize that I was taking small damage, it's hard to see it but i'm losing a pixel of health for each guarded slash.
@@toucan1677 Yeah, that's true. You'll still take damage, although in your case, it's not very noticeable. Anyway, congrats!
Nice broo Ive been going at it for 7 hours but still cant do it, using dual curved swords only and no mimic I cant perfect roll some of his attacks, like the one where he swipes his swords very fast and then follows with an "x" attack I swear you only dodge that once in a fullmoon and the ones you were blocking on the second phase.. those are the ones that kill me only :( , dont wanna go parry methods or the big shield cheese ive seen online. Guess Ill have to get my scadutree up to lvl 14 like you (I have 12 levels) and perhaps im gonna have to add a shield to block those attacks you were blocking, since I cant find a way to dodge them :/ im also level 169 and could use 10 more points in vigor (I have 50 I believe)
kinda sad because I really want to avoid all damage rolling/jumping but this time it feels like its impossible, but how could it be? Fromsoft need to explain..
Yeah i don't have a proper answer against the string that ends with the "x" move too, as u saw, this move is nearly a guaranted hit, there are some cursed delayed roll to the left to avoid it but i'm not good at it,
and when the second hit gets me the "x" finish is a combo (maybe because i have a very low poise), that's why I switched to Bloodhound step as my Ash of War, for some reason it allows me to escape the last hit.
Having 60 Vigor instead of 50 could be very comfy, these extra 10 points saved me more than once, especially since my armor doesn't provide a good amount of def
@@toucan1677if you block the first attack you can roll the other 2. block first swipe role 2nd and then role into the x. heard it works.

is quality better than heavy and keen?
it's better than heavy and keen if you have a high amount of STR and DEX; i'd say it becoms better when you have at least 50 in both stats
what did you use for ur flask?
The stamina recovery boost and the damage boost upon consecutive attacks

@@seikaitsuu7813 c'est l'attaque que j'ai le plus de mal a esquiver, y a moyen de roll sur la gauche avec un délai tout maudit pour esquiver le 1er coup et passer sous le 2ème, mais j'avais trop pris l'habitude de rouler a droite, FromSoft nous as conditionné a esquiver dans le sens contraire des coups, ils sont bien vils d'avoir fait ce coup qui punit cette habitude
