60B Farland Howe Through the Years

- I ran every locomotive I own in this video. There is music in the later years. It is black and white in the very early years and a bit grainy. What can you expect from 1899? I have tried to match the coaching stock with the time frame as best as my inventory will allow. If I have made a mistake, please feel free to complain to the management. You can also complain to the management if I have made a mistake with the year of first appearance. The Management is on vacation at the moment and expected back next year. This took more than 3 1/2 full days to create. I very much hope you enjoy it. So, grab a cup of tea, sit back and relax with the sound up.

I admire the patience of the passengers who have waited for a train for over 100 years. Great watch Rob.
Hi Paul, Ha ha, yes as I was filming I wondered about that too. Maybe they were ghosts of the future? Glad you enjoyed it, Thank you, Rob
That was great takes me back when I was a child 😀
Shaun Sandiford :-D that makes me smile. It was fun to do. Thank you, Rob
Hi Shaun, I am hoping that is good. You remember 1899 well, what a memory. Thank you, Rob
Really cool stuff
Wide World of Trains Thank you.
Your welcome
lol
Looking at this and remembering the old movies , brings back memories .. nicely done Rob, shows time flies , don’t seem like yesterday when you started
Hi David, it was 2012 when I started, I think. Not sure about the first UA-cam. I've deleted so many of the old ones. Weird though how sometimes out of the blue there is a comment on one of my really early ones. Sort of shocking. Glad it brought back memories, thank you, Rob
Nicely put together. Layout and locos look great. Thanks Rob. Laurie.
Hi Laurie, Coming from you, that's a fair compliment. Thank you, Rob
A wonderful journey through time....The layout looks fantastic too. All the best....Tom
Hi Tom, It was a fun romp, thank you and thank you, Rob
A great way to start Friday awesome as always Rob
Hi Tony, Yes, tis Friday. Yippee. Thank you, Rob
Neat idea. Great job. -Mark
Hi Mark, So happy you think so, thank you, Rob

Great video Rob, very nicely done!
Hi Dan, Very glad you think so. Thank you, Rob
Great video Rob, layout has lasted well since 1899 and still looking great. lovely Idea, through the ages............John.
Hi John, Tee hee, yes since 1899. Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you, Rob
Great video Rob,very realistic.
Regards
Bob
Hi Bob, You think so, well thank you, Rob
Hi Rob that was a fantastic video I just love the black & white segment and the way the tone of black & white changed as it went up the years even the colour changed it got sharper as the years past , fantastic job Rob. Regards George..
Hi George, It took some playing around with the color settings, but it came out okay. I am pleased you noticed that. Thank you so much, Rob
Hi Rob, absolutely fantastic, video came together just great, the flickering grainy black and white hen as time advanced clear black and white developing into colour, just great, amazing collection of loco's, freight and passenger rolling stock, video as with your modeling fantastic detail, well done mate credit to you. . . . . Al
Hi Al, So happy you liked it. Nothing got done on the layout. not a thing. Spent the whole week doing this, but it was fun. I don't run the ROD much and was surprised at how powerful it is. The train room is a complete mess and will take half a day to put things away. lol Thank you Al, cheers, Rob
I think that doing nothing on the layout and running trains is what the hobby is about. . . . . Al
Yes, you are so right. I will make a promise to my self to do more of that and less building. Rob
Great video Rob, I loved the cavalcade through the ages theme and the old black and white flickery movie effect at the start. All rounded off nicely with the tranquil seaside soundtrack. Brilliant !!! ...................John
Canal Sidings Model Railway Hi John, I am so glad you liked the video. I felt we all needed some peace after all those roaring engines. Thank you so much, Rob
Great video Rob. Really enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing your fantastic fleet of locos and rolling stock. ...Jamie
Hi Jamie, Not so sure about the fantastic side, but thank you, Rob
What a really enjoyable video Rob. Very unique idea. Thanks so much for sharing. Cary
It was fun, Hi Cary, I am so happy you enjoyed it. Thank you, Rob
Great video Rob! Unique concept of showing your roster in the appropriate years with the changing film types. Model Railways can be time machines.
Indeed, they can be time machines. It was oodles of fun doing this. Thank you, Rob
great video Rob, nice history, thanks for sharing, Chuck RVRR
Hi Chuck, so happy you enjoyed it. Thank you, Rob
Great idea Rob, to show your loco stock in this way. well thought out and executed.
Robin
Hi Robin, Not sure about the well thought out part, but thank you, Rob
A very interesting look throughout the years Rob, nicely done as well. Great video. Regards, Geoff.
Hi Geoff, So happy you liked it. Thank you, Rob
A truly inspired video Rob.Thank you for taking 3 1/2 days to produce it. Well worth it from the viewer standpoint. David.
Hi David, It was well worth it. I even like watching myself which is certainly not the case normally. It has been a good break from the usual week for me anyway. Thank you, so pleased you like it. Rob
I must confess that there are a few of mine that I like to watch from time to time. It's important to please ourselves once in a while. Cheers Rob. David.
David Atkins Agreed. Thanks again, Rob
I like the video Rob, and the way it was done. Your collection of locos it great. I liked the Hillman Imp it one shot.
Hi Nigel, sorry I didn't reply sooner. Your comment was somehow missed and I apologize for that. I may have written it but forgot to press the button. I do that too often. I wish I had a few more locos, but that was it. Glad you liked it, Thank you, Rob
That is weird. I replied and pressed the button but my reply did not stick. We so sorry it took so long to reply. I just tried a few seconds ago and it did it again. Not sure what is going on. Thank you. Oh yes, the Imp is Geoff's Gram's. Thank you, Rob
Hi Rob, One word; Exellent. Like this idea of differents era particullary black and white. At 6:54, Hst view is wonderful. Well done. Gérard.
Hi Gérard, This was fun to do. So glad you liked it. Thank you, Rob
Wow Rob...very nice. Only thing missing was a BR Blue Western :-) Mark
Hi Mark, I don't have one, but I should reall get one at some point. Thank you so much, Rob
Whew is indeed the word for this video , a BIG thank you for sharing this compilation .
Cheers.......Peter
Hi Peter, That was the relief I felt when I was finished with it. Whew...Thank you so much, Rob
Hey Rob,
Another Brit whose now hooked-up to your channel. I love what you are doing here. Fabulous stuff. Need any advice on British Outline..then just ask me. The odd thing is, I model European & North American Outlines here in Sussex by the Sea! (Bexhill near Brighton on the South Coast, 60 miles south of London. This is 'The Brighton' LB&SCR & later Sir Oliver Bulleid's Southern Railway, country. Love your Kernow Models Black diesel..in fact the first train book I ever had (The Ladybird Book of Trains), featured just that same Bulleid diesel (in BR Green) on the front cover. Those experimentals, used to haul the Atlantic Coast Express, The Golden Arrow & The Bournemouth Belle (the latter two, both being Pullman consists). Loved your King on this vid & it's GWR Centenary coach rake. You're doing fine. Keep up the good work. You've captured the English coastal dune (+ seagulls) scene perfectly. All you need now, is to install a British 'rain machine', on your Train Room ceiling! lol
All the best.
Andrew
Hello, Andrew, So glad you've subscribed to Farland. Just for reference, this video is 60B and we are now on 85B not that it matters. This video was an interesting exercise. I had to research much of it to get it right and it took a week to produce. Thank you so much, Rob

I only found Farland Howe, yesterday Rob! I'll soon catch up, though. I started with the one where your good wife introduced your newly decorated & rebuilt cellar & I think then, that your next broadcast was about starting to build all the track & scenery tables that you needed. Have you watched any of of the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway You Tube films & videos..now that's an amazing little place, quite near to me. aAmongst a number of British Outline Pacifics & Atlsntics, the railway even has a Yankee Hudson (or perhaps a Mike?), that takes all the local children to school! The RH&D railway, is not just there for day trippers & tourists either, it also has provided for many, many years, a local revenue earning service, there in South East Kent. The locos & rolling stock look around 1/2 full size & run on narrow gauge. The railway runs right by the sea. You'd just love it, my friend! My local Heritage Railways nearby are The Kent & East Sussex (light) Railway (ie standard gauge but nothing too large!), it runs from Tenterden to Bodiam & also, there is the more famous 'Bluebell Railway', running from Sheffield Park to East Grinstead (an old LB& SCR branch line that was closed by Beeching, back in the 1960s). Lots of very flash coachwork & renovations go on at Sheffield Park sheds, the Pullmans & just so much of their passenger rolling stock, is absolutely stunning! In fact, I've never seen so much teak, all in one place!
Our famous TV Rail modeler, Bob Symes, built a copy layout of Sheffield Park Station & it's environs, on one of his TV modelling series. Bob has passed on to that great railroad in the sky now but he was one of the nicest men on the planet & You Tube, is flooded, with copies of his TV Series Broadcasts. He was a Gauge 1 real-steam fan at heart & had a large G1 railway of his own, in his rather large, gardens near Exeter. He was a model railway icon over here. Never forgotten! Bob Symes, God Bless You & RIP (he inspired me to take up the obsession..& I've never recovered!) lol

Superb fleet of locos there Rob and creatively portrayed through the years. With the first few shots of the jumpy black and white photos you could be fooled in to thinking it was the thing you were viewing. Always jealous of a modeller with a Western too. Paul
Hi Paul, You must be doubly jealous of my two, one green, one maroon. :-) The app on my video editor does a very good job of it. Thank you, Rob
Wow, what a performance that was Rob, probably one of the best videos you have created so far and certainly ranks with one of the best on UA-cam too. Absolutely stunning videoing and editing - you really have done yourself proud on this one. I have to confess that I had been waiting for this to arrive and I wasn't disappointed. Well done indeed. ............Graham
Hi Graham, That is quite the statement. It was fun work doing it. It probably took longer than necessary because I would some times run them around a few times just for fun. I am happy with the way it turned out. That last one is my fav with the camera rising above the roof tops to see the viaduct across the way. I will have to remember that and try it again with some different stock. Thank you very much, Rob
I could tell you were enjoying yourself Rob and why shouldn't you? With a stunning layout like you are building then I would find it hard for anyone not to enjoy running trains on it - you wouldn't be able to drag me away!! ;-)
Graham Foulston Thanks Graham, you are too kind. Yes, I did have some fun, but it also was time consuming. Off to see my blood doc.
Good luck buddy. ;-) ...........Graham
Graham Foulston When you said couldn’t drag you away I was thinking I wish I could drag you here.
