John, I'm so happy to see that many of your orchids are doing well even after the hurricane. I love the colors on your Rth. Siam Fancy. I would love to see some crosses with it.
Nice flowers! They must be responsible for the smile in your face even as you talk about the damage the wind caused😄! And I think Miltassia is now Bratonia, and I don't know why! I think Miltassia sounds waaay better!
I even had "Bratonia" in my notes and looked it up before I made my video. I need to get my orchid memory back after so long away from them... Yeah, I am happy to be back but did not enjoy the cleanup!
It’s nice to see flowers opening after the storm/damage! And better to have the NoIDs get damaged in my opinion! I was going to suggest mounting the den on a tree! I think you should do it!
@@plantpropagator sounds like you’ll have to mount all throughout the neighborhood ha ha. I don’t usually buy dens because a lot of them get large, but I went to the orchid festival last month at Hausermanns and I picked up Dendrobium Blue Seas! The fragrance is so intoxicating. Like floral honey.
@@OrchidMarcus That sounds great - not too many fragrant Dens that I have found. And it might be blue too? Are you a member of the Illinois Orchid Society?
I too have a Brassidium that I bought 16 months ago from Everlast Orchids in Hernando County. It was flowering when I bought it and has only flowered once since then, but it’s growing very good now so I’m anticipating more spikes before too much longer. My only issue is that the original flowers when I bought it lasted several weeks in my air-conditioned house, but only a day or two when it re-flowered this past August. Florida heat is good for growth, but not for flower longevity.
It is interesting that so many of these "delicate" orchid blooms last so long in the heat here. That is what they are used to - as long as they are not in direct sun or exposed to hurricane winds! I do feel like I want to protect them during the summer heat but they chose to bloom at that time of the year...
Good to see some of your orchids made it through the storm in fine shape. Rlc. River Kwai Pink looks to be quite vigorous. Have you used it in any crosses?
Yes, I have my first seedlings coming from that cross - too early to see anything other than vigorous seedlings... I am going to follow up with a video of the damage done to the park where I volunteer - I visited there yesterday and realized that I need to be more thankful for the minimal damage at my place.

Thanks for your comment - I did make a cross with it - hope that it works.....
That RLC River Kwai Pink is gorgeous!!
I like it too - so many blooms. Pink is pretty common but the combination of vigor, fragrance and intense coloration is s nice!!
Goodday new subscriber from Jamaica 🇯🇲 .Thanks for sharing
Thanks for subbing - I am happy to share!!

I think that the NoID Dens are destined for the trees. There are too many for my neighbors' trees so I need to find a few different outlets....
