I totally dig it. The only thing : I actually imagined that just like Byleth, the Monster Hunter would use various weapons (larger amount in their case since, as you have shown, there are A LOT of weapons to make) however its a good thing that you limited it to mainly the great sword and the carving knife. And I love your choice of armor too. My ideas were: Rathalos (Normal/Azur), Rathian (Normal/Sakura), Tigrex (Normal/Berserk), Nargacuga (Normal/Green) & Barioth (Normal/Sand). (But your ideas are more appealing)
I personally don't like the Byleth system for a monster hunter. In Monster Hunter, you only carry one weapon at a time, so it would just completely contradict the point of Monster Hunter, a game where preparation and commitment are critical to success. Even in World, where it's more relaxed, you still only carry a single weapon at any one time. You can change at camp, but you can't equip a lance and a bowgun at the same time.

My only issue with that is that you can't freely switch between weapons on a hunt in the MH games without returning to camp, which is why it felt wrong to allow the hunter to do so for the moveset. That's why I'd prefer to have the other weapons be in their own individual movesets. To me that makes more sense.
BrawlFan1 inkling can’t swap weapons mid fight either but it still has a larger variety of weapons, I think a monster hunter would be best if it used more weapons

My most anticipated one so far! I've made up my own and was interested on your take. Regardless to say, I love it! I'm also glad there was basically no overlap so then others can't accuse me of stealing when I make my own vid.
This is a cool concept!! Really, it is! Buuut i feel like limiting the hunter to one weapon takes a lot away from the customization of their game; but doing byleth v2 isnt fun either. Soooo i thought of an idea. Taunting would call a palico to change you between light, medium, and heavy weapons; or, because online mode has no taunts, it could just be replacing one of the specials (preferrably down or neutral) or whenever you land down smash. Light weapons you get two jumps, fast, and are lightweight. Medium you get two jumps and average speed/weight. Heavy, only one jump, slow, very heavy. Forward special would be a charge followed up by a jump off. Dual blades for light, rushing forward vertically, stabbing them in, and jumping off (a move from world). Longsword for medium, performing helm splitter on them after stabbing them, but without the return trip down. Switch axe for heavy; shorter distance, but when you stab you grind the axe in them before leaping high off. (A move from mhw.) This move would also leap off of walls and ledges in all its forms, the height rising with how heavy it is. Up special would be sword and shield charge jump for light (a quick, short upward diagonal jump) and you could input the attack button to come back straight down. The medium would be charge blade’s sword and shield performing the jump, with a return trip being with the axe mode. Heavy being insect glaive, with a lot more vertical movement and restoring your jump, or instead of another jump you could attack to go straight down, like in mhw. Neutral special would be a bow, a but slower than joker’s gun but with his same jump and movement options while in it, except the jump shot is diagonal down with light knockback but more lag between fires. Any shot could also be held down and charged. Light bowgun for medium, slower fire more damage, and heavy bowgun for heavy, with the jump shot becoming a horizontal shot and much, much more lag between shots, but kill potential at maybe 140+. Down special would be a flurry of stabs with the lance while quickly taking steps forward, like a rapid jab but mobile, cutting the move speed of your walk down to half. It could be di’d or airdodged after a few seconds. Releasing it has the hunter charge forward with a lance. Medium is gunlance, doing the same thing but slower, and releasing it has a wyvern shot fired off. Heavy is the hammer, but instead of a rapid jab while walking its a slow hammer spin that can get two or three hits before finishing with a powerful attack. Your tilts would be done with a sword and shield for light, longsword for medium, greatsword for heavy; same for your forward smash. Forward tilt being a stab (similar to the basic attack in world), down tilt being a downward slash (again world) and up being a rising slash. Jab combo could be with a four hit jab resembling the four basic hits of the sword and shield, the longsword, or the basic combo chain for the greatsword. Forward smash could be the first hit of a hit, second smash being a backstep into leaping strike, third leaping up and coming back down. Longsword could be a slash, a backstep where the sword is sheathed and cuts on the way back, and the third being a dash through them with a ton of cuts (cant remember the name, a new attack in iceborn for longsword), where the greatsword could be true charge, with super armor after releasing, the other two hits being the second of true charge and then the downward smack-roll-smack. If you tapped forward smash three times, the three hits would be strung together in something that could reasonably combo, each hit with more power and knockback. You could also change the direction of the forward smash combo by inputing f smash in the opposite direction for the second or third hit. Up smash would be a call with the hunting horn hitting all around the hunter, and down smash could be the hunter attacking on one side of himself with a hammer and the palico jumping out the other side to cover it. (If down smash was not held, the palico could also change weapons for the hunter, maybe). Fair would be a quick arcing slash with sns for light, longsword, and then greatsword. Backair would be a backwards shield badh with kill potential at mid percents. Longsword would hit with the hilt of the sword, so would greatsword, the speed decreasing with heaviness. Up air would be a slash with the weapon, and dair could have the hunter throw a trap below them. Low damage, decent hitstun. If the projectile does not hit someone but rather hits the stage before despawning, it would set a random trap (shock would deal more damage, pitfall would last longer). The trap would despawn after six seconds, and only one could exist at a time. If an enemy walks over it, they would trigger it, dealing light damage per second and holding them in place until they could buttom jam out. It wouldnt take much, essentially a grab but even shorter at high percents, but would be useful nonetheless. Grabs could be done with the slinger claw, with a tether grab. Back throw would have the hunter throw them onto the ground behind them, where their palico would jump out and throw a boomering, similar to mewtwo’s shadow ball throw, launching them further. Forward throw would have the hunter hit the opponent with a random one of his weapons in an arc, dealing damage and knockback dependent on the weapon, with the palico following up with a cheer. The down throw would have the hunter drop the opponent, and throw a flash pod on them while the palico readies a bomb attack to launch the opponent upward and over in a random direction. Up throw would have the hunter toss their foe onto the ground, and comically drop a barrel bomb onto them, launching them straight up from the explosion, while the palico giggles. The final smash would probably be using the Dragonator, the hunter starting with a huge upward greatsword slash, slashing them into a wingdrake who takes them over to Astera for a bit of a beating, finished off by the Dragonator drilling through them in a cinematic final smash. Maybe there needs to be a different weapon switching mechanic, like how they switch, but i think that could be a really cool moveset. Thoughts?

Many people think Smash needs more female and more villain representation, so I think Medusa from Kid Icarus would be a solid way to include both. I see her as using a mixture of summoned minons, snakes, fire and her hidden monstrous form.

What if the octolings were in Smash ? There's enough unused weapons in Splatoon to make something pretty different from the inkling, plus the Octo Expansion. Quickly thought that their main weapon could be a charger, they'd have lower general mobility but can use the dual guns for extra movement, and they could have longer range. Other characters I've thought about are Decidueye or Rillaboom (or however he's called), Skull Kid or even Mumbo Jumbo

I wanted to wait until Sunbreak released so I could give some alternative moves with the Monster Hunter based on what’s involved/introduced in Monster Hunter Rise/Sunbreak. I don’t have much to change for ALL the moves, there’s just some things I want to change, just bear with me. Gimmick: Since we now have Palamutes as well as Palicos, they can stand in the background stage to watch over, lending aid to their Meowster when needed. I’ll explain their use in a moment. Also, Wirebugs are a thing! You get only 2, but you can use them to gain great height and bolster your swings. You need to be aware that some moves require both Wirebugs, so some moves won’t work until the Wirebugs return. Grab: I’d see the Palamute aiding The Hunter by using its Stoutcore Fang. In the game, it’s made to detach from the Palamute to make a weak spot on the monster it attached to. In Smash, it will act as a makeshift grab, allowing you do deal extra damage as you slash the opponent in a different direction. It would be a teamwork tactic that allows the Hunter, Palamute, and Palico to work as one. Neutral Special: Rise/Sunbreak no longer has the slinger, so instead, you’ll throw just kunai. There’s no other special ammo here, it’s just the kunai. Because your given unlimited kunai on hunts, you can spam the NS to throw many from a distance, though it stops once it hits someone or hits a wall. It flies straight and can’t go through objects. This doesn’t do heavy damage, but it behaves like Fox’s blaster; dealing damage without flinching. Down Special: This can be the new spot for the Item Slot. A slew of equipment The Hunter can take with them on hunts. You have 10 Small Bombs (detonates in 3 seconds), 3 Large Bombs (explodes when hit), 1 Pitfall Trap (temporarily buries opponent) 1 Shock Trap (locks opponents in place temporarily), 8 Tranq Bombs (Puts Opponent to sleep when they move into the cloud), and Use Felvine (Palico rushes in to aid in fight for a time. Ends by pulling out a Lottery Box and use a random move; Healing Clover Bat to heal the Hunter, Felyn Fireworks to act as a smart bomb when an opponent gets to close to it, Felyne Power-Up plays a tune to give the Hunter a temporary boost, and Ameowzing Mist to deal elemental damage in Burning, Freezing, or using Water to push opponents away.) The Hunter can only use these items per match, even when KOed. I know that if Hunters get carted by a monster, they can restock in camp, but it might be a bit overwhelming already. Also, if you place a bomb, you can set it off yourself with a throwing kunai. You could also smack it with the Greatsword, but you’ll take a bit of damage. Up Special: The Wirebug! It flies up in a vertical angle, much like Joker’s grapple, but you can fly up twice, since you carry 2 Wirebugs on you at all times. Speaking of which… Side Special: Wirebug Dash. You can flank an opponent with a Wirebug and preform a draw attack with the right timing. If you charge this move, you can tank an oncoming attack and counter with a brutal swing after, just be aware that you can’t use this charge again until your Wirebugs return. Taunts: Any of the many poses in the games, but with the inclusion of the Palico and Palamutes posing with the Hunter. Final Smash: Wyvern Riding. The Hunter throws a Flash Bug, causing the opponent(s) being pulled into a cutscene where The Hunter begins to control a monster with Wirebugs, dealing significant damage depending on the armor set the Hunter is wearing. The only changes I’d make here is Nargacuga for Goss Harag, Tigrex for Rakna-Kadaki, Lagiacrus for Bishaten, and Zinogre for Almudron. I know most of the monsters you mentioned are really popular, I just wanted to add the ones introduced in Rise to get their time in the limelight. There could also be a different cinematic where Magnamalo gets involved for Rise and Malzeno gets involved for Sunbreak, just something to incorporate both monsters from both games. Victory Animations: 1. A celebration between Hunter, Palico and Palamute the Palico is riding on. 2. A Wirebug circles the Hunter as The Palico and Palamutes watch on. 3. A Cohoot swoops in and perches on the Hunter’s arm, prompting the Hunter to feed it and pet it. There’s also a chance for the Cohoot to be a Snowy Cohoot, a variant of Cohoots introduced in Sunbreak. New Stage: The Rampage. A open defense area where monsters rushed in hordes to Kamura village. Monsters will run amuck in the background during the fight, and some can rush the stage to deal great damage (think Metal Face in Gaur Plain). The Monsters that deal greater damage are the Apex Monsters, with darker colors and many scars covering their body. Turning off hazards can still allow the Monsters to move around, it’s just a cosmetic to the stage. I know The Rampage wasn’t all that popular either with Rise, which was why it was never expanded upon in Sunbreak, but if all else fails, any of the maps like The Jungle or the new Citadel could make a great map, especially if Malzeno can be used as a stage hazard at the alter of The Citadel. I'm pretty sure BJ says early in the video that he would make another moveset using a different weapon type if requested enough. The emphasis on Rise you're suggesting could be an interesting excuse to do that, since it would make the new Hunter moveset distinct from this one in terms of specials as well. My pick for the weapon would be Dual Blades because a, I've actually used those, and b, again, it would be distinct from this Hunter to be a rushdown demon. What do you think?

I’m back. What about doomfist from overwatch in smash? He’d be a heavyweight character, and is pretty slow. No additional movement options. Gimmicks: next to the battle UI, it will show a small image of the hand canon and say 4/4 above it. These are the bullets that Doomfist has. The moves that involve the bullets are the last hit of jab, which uses 1 bullet, neutral air, which also uses 1, up air, which actually uses all 4, up throw, which uses 1. If he doesn’t have bullets when he uses these moves, they straight up won’t do damage. To reload the bullets, you will have to press Shield and Y at the same time, like Inkling with Shield + B. Jab: a quick punch from his weaker arm, then a hard punch from his metal arm, and finally a shot from his hand canon. Dash attack: rams forward with his metal arm blocking himself. Has a small amount of super armor, since he’s blocking himself. Side tilt: a quick kick forward. Up tilt: a fast uppercut, like Mario’s Down tilt: a small kick. Forward smash: slams his metal arm forward. Up smash: hits hard upward with the metal arm. Down smash: punches downward. It doesn’t hit people, but instead it has powerful shockwaves that launch opponents upward. Neutral air: shoots forward with his hand canon, and punches backward with the metal arm. Forward air: flips forward and hits with his metal arm. Can spike if it hits right. Back air: turns around and kicks with both legs. Up air: shoots upward and hits multiple times, like Mii gunner’s. Down air: punches straight down with brute force, and it spikes. But it sends doomfist flying downward, like Corrin or Sheik’s down air. So if you try to spike someone offstage, you’re better off going for a forward air. If he hits the ground, it has small shockwaves. GRABS AND THROWS: grabs with his metal arm and pummels by punching with his weaker arm. Forward throw: punches hard with his metal arm. Back throw: lifts opponents up, pulls them back, and throws them backward. Up throw: throws opponents upward, then shoots them up with the hand canon. Down throw: holds opponents on the ground with the weak arm, then slams down with the strong arm. SPECIALS: Neutral special: shoots the hand canon 4 times. Has a bit of end lag because the reloading of the canon. Press the B button once to shoot once, twice to shoot twice, etc. Side special: uses the move Rocket Punch. Launches forward with the metal arm and smashes opponents. Can be charged up for much more power and sends Doomfist very far. Has a bit of end lag, due to him getting his arm under control. It also doesn’t put Doomfist into free fall, so it can be used to recover. He also can move while charging, but he moves veeerryy slow. Lastly, it does more damage if an opponent hits a wall, like in Overwatch. Up special: uses Rising Uppercut, like Ryu’s shoruken. Actually does not put him into free fall, so you can use moves after it. Down special: uses Rising Slam. Like Terry’s Power Dunk, he leaps forward and smashes the ground. Has small shockwaves that can hit opponents. FINAL SMASH: Uses Doomfist’s Ultimate, Meteor Strike. He leaps up into the air and yells, “Meteor Strike!” Like Pit’s final smash, you can aim where he lands and press A to use it. It also has a timer, like Pit’s final smash and like in Overwatch. Alts: His first will be his Daisy skin. Makes his metal arm purple. Next will be the Lake skin. Makes the arm light blue. Next, he gets Sunset. Makes his arm orange and his pants light blue. Then it could be Leopard. Makes the arm white and the spots of a leopard. Then Plains. Makes his arm golden and shorts a yellow-green color. Next will be Painted. Makes half of Doomfist’s body and his face covered in a white paint with African tribal paint symbols. I don’t know how to explain it. Stage intro: Appears, saying, “only through conflict, we evolve.” This is a reference to his entrance in overwatch. I also couldn’t make this the most creative since there’s no real way a character comes in in Overwatch. They’re just kinda... there. Taunts: For the up taunt, he would hold up his arm and say “You’re not getting away!” For the side taunt, he would say, “nice try.” Then the down taunt will have him punch the ground downward and say “Every battle makes us stronger.” This is a reference to his reveal trailer. Victory screens: first, he’ll jump in and hit the ground, like one of Ike’s. He’ll say, “I was looking for a challenge.” Then, he’ll squat down shoot his hand canon, then he’ll bend his metal arm. Finally, he’ll be looking away, then he turns around around and says “I win this time.” He can also say “I didn’t even break a sweat.” This is similar to fox’s victory screen.
I got an idea for a video: Morgan Yu from Prey. I don’t have any specific idea for his attacks, but there are some items that can be used. •GLOO cannon •Silenced pistol/shotgun •wrench •Neuromod Abilities (only fighting-related abilities, so Combat Focus, Kinetic Blast, Electrostatic burst, etc) Some other ideas: • remember the certain abilities from other characters like Palutena’s guidance? Well do the same, but the person talking is January. •Final smash is tricky. It would definitely have to do something with the Typhons, but I can’t decide what. Maybe a mimic could transform into something, the opponent reaches for it, and then the mimic pops out and deals damage. But my best bet would be Phantoms. Also some other suggestions for fighters: •Sole Survivor/The Courier (Fallout series) •Dad and Son from Happy wheels (cause why not)
I've never even played Monster Hunter before, but you had so many interesting moves to choose from here! It's the total opposite of my playstyle, but I'd still enjoy experimenting with it. If you do other Monster Hunters in the future, I'd be down to see what else you could come up with :)

Still think Maxwell from Scribblenauts would be awesome, but another idea could be Yuri from the Fire Emblem Three Houses DLC. He’s another sword user, but he doesn’t really fight much like any other sword user in Smash, being more about high mobility tricky fighting. Plus he also has the ability to switch locations with people (well, allies), which could always be neat. Great vid tho!

First of all, this is fantastic. We had the same trapster base idea! but... if up and down smash were barrel bombs? Ones that behave like snake's old smashes. Down a standard, up a bouncing barrel that rockets up and comes down. You'd need a different forwards special, but you could have some REALLY interesting zoning and setups.
This was really good. I really like the final smash idea, very cool. Definitely a good choice. Kinda surprising that the monster hunter isn't in smash but Ratholos is, but maybe he can get in eventually, since there's only a Ratholos spirit and most new characters are characters that don't already have a spirit.
This is a great video! But there is one thing I would change, which would be to change one of the slinger ammo with the bomb pod. You only have 3 (that i can recall), and when hitting a player, it acts like the sticky bomb item. I think that would be really cool!

I actually had a weird but unique final smash for the hunter if the weapons were in with them. Basically, the hunter pulls out a light bowgun and fires either a pierce or spread shot that hits up to multiple targets (max: 3) which it starts up a cinematic of the fighters stunned as one of the 6 monsters from GenU appear. But then, all the monster hunters appeared to attack with their signature weapon, ending it off with a great sword slash. If opponents were over 100%, they lose a stock and if they’re on their last stock and was defeated by this, the hunter gets the “Quest Complete” title card as it plays the iconic victory theme at the end, mainly like Joker’s final smash.
Nah, like I said in the video, I'd much rather just make multiple Monster Hunter movesets, each using their own weapon apiece. Having a Hunter use multiple weapons just feels wrong.
My dude I was so so so SO SCARED you’d do my hunter wrong but after seeing how well you did maxwell of scribblenots I finally caved and you did amazing I loved it really did a lot and thought of so much if I may I think you could do a move set that incorporates multiple weapons as thier gimmick Sort of like bayleths gimmick but more focused when you hit the special the hunter would do a coralalating attack depending on the special input so for instance up special would give them a glaive and have them jump in the air and with the glaive and their move set minus any special attack that isn’t up special would utilize the glaive and all the glaive can do(so for down smash the hunter would call the Kinsey and hit one side while the kinsect hits the other side.) allowing you a massive range of play styles to suit the rhythm of battle. As that’s something monster hunter always seems to boast at least to me the player dictating the rhythm of battle. But if you will only do single weapons would you please do sword and shield, long sword or duel blades; I feel one of those gimmicks would really lend to a very exciting video if you want you can make a prowler playstyle 😀 I KNOW A LOT OF HUNTERS WOULD LOVE TO SEE A PROWLER PLAY STLE
One change I would make to the moveset is with neutral special, to bring it a bit closer to the source material (or at least to MHW, since it's the one I'm more familiar with), to not punish players who manage to survive for a long time, and to make it a bit more interesting (in my opinion); and it would be to force the hunter to obtain the slinger ammo instead of giving a limited amount of ammo at the start of each stock Now, this could be done in two ways. You could have it so that by default the hunter has an unlimited amount of stones which could deal a little damage but no knockback (similar to Fox's lasers), but some sword hits have a chance to make enemies drop a random type of slingshot ammo, which then could be picked up by using the neutral special near it (or maybe make it similar to picking up an item, idk). This is to reference big monsters dropping ammo for the slinger, either randomly when hit, or guaranteed when you grab them with the clutch claw and hit them with your weapon The second way is to make the hunter have no ammo by default; but make them able to pick a random type of ammo from the ground with a somewhat lengthy animation (similar to Steve's mining ability) when they use the neutral special while having no ammo. This is simply a reference to the hunter being able to pick up stuff like stones or scatternuts or redpits from the enviroment, to use them as slinger ammo
Difference there is that there's only so much you can do with each of those weapons, where as each Monster Hunter weapon can be used in a broader way by itself.

Ideas for costumes: Doppelganger (Maxwells clone) Lily (Maxwells sister) Edwin (Maxwells brother) And some of Maxwells other siblings No headphones and long pants(a reference to the first Scribblenauts.) Taunts: Up: Writes in notebook Down: thinking (with pen on chin) Left and right: a simple wave. Final Smash: Maxwell will write something powerful (if you don't write in time, A random powerful object will spawn from the Scibblenauts series.) Winning animations: Maxwell writes in his notebook and looks at the camera with a smile Maxwell jumps with a Starite in hand Maxwell will look at the camera and wink and put a thumbs up at the same time. The Random stuff: Maxwell would be a medium character and would have one jump and could crawl Maxwell could fly by summoning wings (which would look like white bird wings) and would have a time limit for flight. Really loved the idea for Monster Hunter, I actually expected Monster Hunter to be in Fighter Pass 1 tbh, I guess Byleth kinda plays similar to her. For characters I´d like to see in future videos, I don´t ask for too much, but I´d love to see some of these characters: -Arle Nadja (Puyo Puyo/Madou Monogatari series) -Makoto Naegi (Danganronpa series) -Yu Narukami (Persona 4) -Cooking Mama (Cooking Mama series)
I really like the main premise of just using GS, it translates over so well. I personally dont think weapon stances would fit monster hunter. I agree with pretty much all your move choices but I think I'd chill out on the specials a tad. Bombs on side B just seems odd, I'd replace them with shoulder charge, you already have it included in the smash attacks, I think it'd make the character feel more consistent and could be a helpful recovery tool if used mid air. Also I'd make sharpness a bigger deal, and give protective polish buff if completed or timed well (wii fit x so tasty) chuck that on down B. I love the idea of different ammo types, but having 3 flashes every life seems absolutely mental. Starting with infinite stones makes sense, but instead of holding B for a menu, hold B to gather. Scavenge the stage for slinger ammo, bombs or traps at random and tap B to use them. Condenses all the specials into one RNG machine, perfect for smash and MH! (Peach x desire sensor)
I totally dig it. The only thing : I actually imagined that just like Byleth, the Monster Hunter would use various weapons (larger amount in their case since, as you have shown, there are A LOT of weapons to make) however its a good thing that you limited it to mainly the great sword and the carving knife. And I love your choice of armor too. My ideas were: Rathalos (Normal/Azur), Rathian (Normal/Sakura), Tigrex (Normal/Berserk), Nargacuga (Normal/Green) & Barioth (Normal/Sand).

I personally don't like the Byleth system for a monster hunter. In Monster Hunter, you only carry one weapon at a time, so it would just completely contradict the point of Monster Hunter, a game where preparation and commitment are critical to success. Even in World, where it's more relaxed, you still only carry a single weapon at any one time. You can change at camp, but you can't equip a lance and a bowgun at the same time.

My only issue with that is that you can't freely switch between weapons on a hunt in the MH games without returning to camp, which is why it felt wrong to allow the hunter to do so for the moveset. That's why I'd prefer to have the other weapons be in their own individual movesets. To me that makes more sense.

Edit: Finished my exams for the day, and wow! Why has this not already been done? Monster Hunter would be excellent in Smash, and like I said, you did a great job making this move set. Looks like Cloud's got some competition as the big blade wielder, and I do like the sharpness gimmick and the variety of traps you've given them, making them more of a warlock/paladin hybrid, something we haven't seen much of in Smash.

This is a cool concept!! Really, it is! Buuut i feel like limiting the hunter to one weapon takes a lot away from the customization of their game; but doing byleth v2 isnt fun either. Soooo i thought of an idea. Taunting would call a palico to change you between light, medium, and heavy weapons; or, because online mode has no taunts, it could just be replacing one of the specials (preferrably down or neutral) or whenever you land down smash. Light weapons you get two jumps, fast, and are lightweight. Medium you get two jumps and average speed/weight. Heavy, only one jump, slow, very heavy. Forward special would be a charge followed up by a jump off. Dual blades for light, rushing forward vertically, stabbing them in, and jumping off (a move from world). Longsword for medium, performing helm splitter on them after stabbing them, but without the return trip down. Switch axe for heavy; shorter distance, but when you stab you grind the axe in them before leaping high off. (A move from mhw.) This move would also leap off of walls and ledges in all its forms, the height rising with how heavy it is. Up special would be sword and shield charge jump for light (a quick, short upward diagonal jump) and you could input the attack button to come back straight down. The medium would be charge blade’s sword and shield performing the jump, with a return trip being with the axe mode. Heavy being insect glaive, with a lot more vertical movement and restoring your jump, or instead of another jump you could attack to go straight down, like in mhw. Neutral special would be a bow, a but slower than joker’s gun but with his same jump and movement options while in it, except the jump shot is diagonal down with light knockback but more lag between fires. Any shot could also be held down and charged. Light bowgun for medium, slower fire more damage, and heavy bowgun for heavy, with the jump shot becoming a horizontal shot and much, much more lag between shots, but kill potential at maybe 140+. Down special would be a flurry of stabs with the lance while quickly taking steps forward, like a rapid jab but mobile, cutting the move speed of your walk down to half. It could be di’d or airdodged after a few seconds. Releasing it has the hunter charge forward with a lance. Medium is gunlance, doing the same thing but slower, and releasing it has a wyvern shot fired off. Heavy is the hammer, but instead of a rapid jab while walking its a slow hammer spin that can get two or three hits before finishing with a powerful attack. Your tilts would be done with a sword and shield for light, longsword for medium, greatsword for heavy; same for your forward smash. Forward tilt being a stab (similar to the basic attack in world), down tilt being a downward slash (again world) and up being a rising slash. Jab combo could be with a four hit jab resembling the four basic hits of the sword and shield, the longsword, or the basic combo chain for the greatsword. Forward smash could be the first hit of a hit, second smash being a backstep into leaping strike, third leaping up and coming back down. Longsword could be a slash, a backstep where the sword is sheathed and cuts on the way back, and the third being a dash through them with a ton of cuts (cant remember the name, a new attack in iceborn for longsword), where the greatsword could be true charge, with super armor after releasing, the other two hits being the second of true charge and then the downward smack-roll-smack. If you tapped forward smash three times, the three hits would be strung together in something that could reasonably combo, each hit with more power and knockback. You could also change the direction of the forward smash combo by inputing f smash in the opposite direction for the second or third hit. Up smash would be a call with the hunting horn hitting all around the hunter, and down smash could be the hunter attacking on one side of himself with a hammer and the palico jumping out the other side to cover it. (If down smash was not held, the palico could also change weapons for the hunter, maybe). Fair would be a quick arcing slash with sns for light, longsword, and then greatsword. Backair would be a backwards shield badh with kill potential at mid percents. Longsword would hit with the hilt of the sword, so would greatsword, the speed decreasing with heaviness. Up air would be a slash with the weapon, and dair could have the hunter throw a trap below them. Low damage, decent hitstun. If the projectile does not hit someone but rather hits the stage before despawning, it would set a random trap (shock would deal more damage, pitfall would last longer). The trap would despawn after six seconds, and only one could exist at a time. If an enemy walks over it, they would trigger it, dealing light damage per second and holding them in place until they could buttom jam out. It wouldnt take much, essentially a grab but even shorter at high percents, but would be useful nonetheless. Grabs could be done with the slinger claw, with a tether grab. Back throw would have the hunter throw them onto the ground behind them, where their palico would jump out and throw a boomering, similar to mewtwo’s shadow ball throw, launching them further. Forward throw would have the hunter hit the opponent with a random one of his weapons in an arc, dealing damage and knockback dependent on the weapon, with the palico following up with a cheer. The down throw would have the hunter drop the opponent, and throw a flash pod on them while the palico readies a bomb attack to launch the opponent upward and over in a random direction. Up throw would have the hunter toss their foe onto the ground, and comically drop a barrel bomb onto them, launching them straight up from the explosion, while the palico giggles. The final smash would probably be using the Dragonator, the hunter starting with a huge upward greatsword slash, slashing them into a wingdrake who takes them over to Astera for a bit of a beating, finished off by the Dragonator drilling through them in a cinematic final smash. Maybe there needs to be a different weapon switching mechanic, like how they switch, but i think that could be a really cool moveset. Thoughts?

I have a bit of a shyguy moveset if you're interested.
What if the octolings were in Smash ? There's enough unused weapons in Splatoon to make something pretty different from the inkling, plus the Octo Expansion. Quickly thought that their main weapon could be a charger, they'd have lower general mobility but can use the dual guns for extra movement, and they could have longer range.
Other characters I've thought about are Decidueye or Rillaboom (or however he's called), Skull Kid or even Mumbo Jumbo

-Down special: False Surrender (grimmsnarl gathers himself in his shielding pose[possibly even showing a fake shield briefly] then surprises the opponent by thrusting his head forward with great power and knockback, good deal of endlag/cool down)
-Pummel: powerful but escapable bite each time the button is pressed
-Neutral air: Pokemon curls up then springs his limbs out, similar to dedede, powerful but single hit and slow

I wanted to wait until Sunbreak released so I could give some alternative moves with the Monster Hunter based on what’s involved/introduced in Monster Hunter Rise/Sunbreak. I don’t have much to change for ALL the moves, there’s just some things I want to change, just bear with me.
Gimmick: Since we now have Palamutes as well as Palicos, they can stand in the background stage to watch over, lending aid to their Meowster when needed. I’ll explain their use in a moment. Also, Wirebugs are a thing! You get only 2, but you can use them to gain great height and bolster your swings. You need to be aware that some moves require both Wirebugs, so some moves won’t work until the Wirebugs return.
Grab: I’d see the Palamute aiding The Hunter by using its Stoutcore Fang. In the game, it’s made to detach from the Palamute to make a weak spot on the monster it attached to. In Smash, it will act as a makeshift grab, allowing you do deal extra damage as you slash the opponent in a different direction. It would be a teamwork tactic that allows the Hunter, Palamute, and Palico to work as one.
Neutral Special: Rise/Sunbreak no longer has the slinger, so instead, you’ll throw just kunai. There’s no other special ammo here, it’s just the kunai. Because your given unlimited kunai on hunts, you can spam the NS to throw many from a distance, though it stops once it hits someone or hits a wall. It flies straight and can’t go through objects. This doesn’t do heavy damage, but it behaves like Fox’s blaster; dealing damage without flinching.
Down Special: This can be the new spot for the Item Slot. A slew of equipment The Hunter can take with them on hunts. You have 10 Small Bombs (detonates in 3 seconds), 3 Large Bombs (explodes when hit), 1 Pitfall Trap (temporarily buries opponent) 1 Shock Trap (locks opponents in place temporarily), 8 Tranq Bombs (Puts Opponent to sleep when they move into the cloud), and Use Felvine (Palico rushes in to aid in fight for a time. Ends by pulling out a Lottery Box and use a random move; Healing Clover Bat to heal the Hunter, Felyn Fireworks to act as a smart bomb when an opponent gets to close to it, Felyne Power-Up plays a tune to give the Hunter a temporary boost, and Ameowzing Mist to deal elemental damage in Burning, Freezing, or using Water to push opponents away.) The Hunter can only use these items per match, even when KOed. I know that if Hunters get carted by a monster, they can restock in camp, but it might be a bit overwhelming already. Also, if you place a bomb, you can set it off yourself with a throwing kunai. You could also smack it with the Greatsword, but you’ll take a bit of damage.
Up Special: The Wirebug! It flies up in a vertical angle, much like Joker’s grapple, but you can fly up twice, since you carry 2 Wirebugs on you at all times. Speaking of which…
Side Special: Wirebug Dash. You can flank an opponent with a Wirebug and preform a draw attack with the right timing. If you charge this move, you can tank an oncoming attack and counter with a brutal swing after, just be aware that you can’t use this charge again until your Wirebugs return.
Taunts: Any of the many poses in the games, but with the inclusion of the Palico and Palamutes posing with the Hunter.
Final Smash: Wyvern Riding. The Hunter throws a Flash Bug, causing the opponent(s) being pulled into a cutscene where The Hunter begins to control a monster with Wirebugs, dealing significant damage depending on the armor set the Hunter is wearing. The only changes I’d make here is Nargacuga for Goss Harag, Tigrex for Rakna-Kadaki, Lagiacrus for Bishaten, and Zinogre for Almudron. I know most of the monsters you mentioned are really popular, I just wanted to add the ones introduced in Rise to get their time in the limelight. There could also be a different cinematic where Magnamalo gets involved for Rise and Malzeno gets involved for Sunbreak, just something to incorporate both monsters from both games.
Victory Animations:
1. A celebration between Hunter, Palico and Palamute the Palico is riding on.
2. A Wirebug circles the Hunter as The Palico and Palamutes watch on.
3. A Cohoot swoops in and perches on the Hunter’s arm, prompting the Hunter to feed it and pet it. There’s also a chance for the Cohoot to be a Snowy Cohoot, a variant of Cohoots introduced in Sunbreak.
New Stage: The Rampage. A open defense area where monsters rushed in hordes to Kamura village. Monsters will run amuck in the background during the fight, and some can rush the stage to deal great damage (think Metal Face in Gaur Plain). The Monsters that deal greater damage are the Apex Monsters, with darker colors and many scars covering their body. Turning off hazards can still allow the Monsters to move around, it’s just a cosmetic to the stage. I know The Rampage wasn’t all that popular either with Rise, which was why it was never expanded upon in Sunbreak, but if all else fails, any of the maps like The Jungle or the new Citadel could make a great map, especially if Malzeno can be used as a stage hazard at the alter of The Citadel.

I'm pretty sure BJ says early in the video that he would make another moveset using a different weapon type if requested enough. The emphasis on Rise you're suggesting could be an interesting excuse to do that, since it would make the new Hunter moveset distinct from this one in terms of specials as well. My pick for the weapon would be Dual Blades because a, I've actually used those, and b, again, it would be distinct from this Hunter to be a rushdown demon. What do you think?

What about doomfist from overwatch in smash?
He’d be a heavyweight character, and is pretty slow. No additional movement options.
Gimmicks: next to the battle UI, it will show a small image of the hand canon and say 4/4 above it. These are the bullets that Doomfist has. The moves that involve the bullets are the last hit of jab, which uses 1 bullet, neutral air, which also uses 1, up air, which actually uses all 4, up throw, which uses 1. If he doesn’t have bullets when he uses these moves, they straight up won’t do damage. To reload the bullets, you will have to press Shield and Y at the same time, like Inkling with Shield + B.
Jab: a quick punch from his weaker arm, then a hard punch from his metal arm, and finally a shot from his hand canon.
Dash attack: rams forward with his metal arm blocking himself. Has a small amount of super armor, since he’s blocking himself.
Side tilt: a quick kick forward.
Up tilt: a fast uppercut, like Mario’s
Down tilt: a small kick.
Forward smash: slams his metal arm forward.
Up smash: hits hard upward with the metal arm.
Down smash: punches downward. It doesn’t hit people, but instead it has powerful shockwaves that launch opponents upward.
Neutral air: shoots forward with his hand canon, and punches backward with the metal arm.
Forward air: flips forward and hits with his metal arm. Can spike if it hits right.
Back air: turns around and kicks with both legs.
Up air: shoots upward and hits multiple times, like Mii gunner’s.
Down air: punches straight down with brute force, and it spikes. But it sends doomfist flying downward, like Corrin or Sheik’s down air. So if you try to spike someone offstage, you’re better off going for a forward air. If he hits the ground, it has small shockwaves.
GRABS AND THROWS: grabs with his metal arm and pummels by punching with his weaker arm.
Forward throw: punches hard with his metal arm.
Back throw: lifts opponents up, pulls them back, and throws them backward.
Up throw: throws opponents upward, then shoots them up with the hand canon.
Down throw: holds opponents on the ground with the weak arm, then slams down with the strong arm.
SPECIALS:
Neutral special: shoots the hand canon 4 times. Has a bit of end lag because the reloading of the canon. Press the B button once to shoot once, twice to shoot twice, etc.
Side special: uses the move Rocket Punch. Launches forward with the metal arm and smashes opponents. Can be charged up for much more power and sends Doomfist very far. Has a bit of end lag, due to him getting his arm under control. It also doesn’t put Doomfist into free fall, so it can be used to recover. He also can move while charging, but he moves veeerryy slow. Lastly, it does more damage if an opponent hits a wall, like in Overwatch.
Up special: uses Rising Uppercut, like Ryu’s shoruken. Actually does not put him into free fall, so you can use moves after it.
Down special: uses Rising Slam. Like Terry’s Power Dunk, he leaps forward and smashes the ground. Has small shockwaves that can hit opponents.
FINAL SMASH: Uses Doomfist’s Ultimate, Meteor Strike. He leaps up into the air and yells, “Meteor Strike!” Like Pit’s final smash, you can aim where he lands and press A to use it. It also has a timer, like Pit’s final smash and like in Overwatch.
Alts: His first will be his Daisy skin. Makes his metal arm purple.
Next will be the Lake skin. Makes the arm light blue.
Next, he gets Sunset. Makes his arm orange and his pants light blue.
Then it could be Leopard. Makes the arm white and the spots of a leopard.
Then Plains. Makes his arm golden and shorts a yellow-green color.

Lastly, Formal. He wears a white tuxedo and black pants and sunglasses. He also wears shoes in this skin.
Stage intro: Appears, saying, “only through conflict, we evolve.” This is a reference to his entrance in overwatch. I also couldn’t make this the most creative since there’s no real way a character comes in in Overwatch. They’re just kinda... there.
Taunts: For the up taunt, he would hold up his arm and say “You’re not getting away!” For the side taunt, he would say, “nice try.” Then the down taunt will have him punch the ground downward and say “Every battle makes us stronger.” This is a reference to his reveal trailer.
Victory screens: first, he’ll jump in and hit the ground, like one of Ike’s. He’ll say, “I was looking for a challenge.” Then, he’ll squat down shoot his hand canon, then he’ll bend his metal arm. Finally, he’ll be looking away, then he turns around around and says “I win this time.” He can also say “I didn’t even break a sweat.” This is similar to fox’s victory screen.

I don’t have any specific idea for his attacks, but there are some items that can be used.
•GLOO cannon
•Silenced pistol/shotgun
•wrench
•Neuromod Abilities (only fighting-related abilities, so Combat Focus, Kinetic Blast, Electrostatic burst, etc)
Some other ideas:
• remember the certain abilities from other characters like Palutena’s guidance? Well do the same, but the person talking is January.
•Final smash is tricky. It would definitely have to do something with the Typhons, but I can’t decide what. Maybe a mimic could transform into something, the opponent reaches for it, and then the mimic pops out and deals damage. But my best bet would be Phantoms.

I've never even played Monster Hunter before, but you had so many interesting moves to choose from here! It's the total opposite of my playstyle, but I'd still enjoy experimenting with it. If you do other Monster Hunters in the future, I'd be down to see what else you could come up with :)

He’s another sword user, but he doesn’t really fight much like any other sword user in Smash, being more about high mobility tricky fighting. Plus he also has the ability to switch locations with people (well, allies), which could always be neat. Great vid tho!

First of all, this is fantastic. We had the same trapster base idea! but...
if up and down smash were barrel bombs? Ones that behave like snake's old smashes. Down a standard, up a bouncing barrel that rockets up and comes down. You'd need a different forwards special, but you could have some REALLY interesting zoning and setups.
This was really good. I really like the final smash idea, very cool. Definitely a good choice. Kinda surprising that the monster hunter isn't in smash but Ratholos is, but maybe he can get in eventually, since there's only a Ratholos spirit and most new characters are characters that don't already have a spirit.
This is a great video! But there is one thing I would change, which would be to change one of the slinger ammo with the bomb pod. You only have 3 (that i can recall), and when hitting a player, it acts like the sticky bomb item. I think that would be really cool!
Could you do Ninten from Mother 1/ Earthbound Zero? He has a lot of attacks that aren't like Ness and Lucas's, so he wouldn't be an echo.

I actually had a weird but unique final smash for the hunter if the weapons were in with them.
Basically, the hunter pulls out a light bowgun and fires either a pierce or spread shot that hits up to multiple targets (max: 3) which it starts up a cinematic of the fighters stunned as one of the 6 monsters from GenU appear. But then, all the monster hunters appeared to attack with their signature weapon, ending it off with a great sword slash.
If opponents were over 100%, they lose a stock and if they’re on their last stock and was defeated by this, the hunter gets the “Quest Complete” title card as it plays the iconic victory theme at the end, mainly like Joker’s final smash.
That neutral b sounds like an insane edge guarding tool ranged sleep forced free fall and control reverse while panicking to get back to the stage
I’d like to see this be remade. While I do like your ideas I feel picking only one weapon really limits the potential of this moveset.
Nah, like I said in the video, I'd much rather just make multiple Monster Hunter movesets, each using their own weapon apiece. Having a Hunter use multiple weapons just feels wrong.

My dude I was so so so SO SCARED you’d do my hunter wrong but after seeing how well you did maxwell of scribblenots I finally caved and you did amazing I loved it really did a lot and thought of so much if I may
I think you could do a move set that incorporates multiple weapons as thier gimmick
Sort of like bayleths gimmick but more focused when you hit the special the hunter would do a coralalating attack depending on the special input so for instance up special would give them a glaive and have them jump in the air and with the glaive and their move set minus any special attack that isn’t up special would utilize the glaive and all the glaive can do(so for down smash the hunter would call the Kinsey and hit one side while the kinsect hits the other side.) allowing you a massive range of play styles to suit the rhythm of battle. As that’s something monster hunter always seems to boast at least to me the player dictating the rhythm of battle. But if you will only do single weapons would you please do sword and shield, long sword or duel blades; I feel one of those gimmicks would really lend to a very exciting video if you want you can make a prowler playstyle 😀 I KNOW A LOT OF HUNTERS WOULD LOVE TO SEE A PROWLER PLAY STLE
One change I would make to the moveset is with neutral special, to bring it a bit closer to the source material (or at least to MHW, since it's the one I'm more familiar with), to not punish players who manage to survive for a long time, and to make it a bit more interesting (in my opinion); and it would be to force the hunter to obtain the slinger ammo instead of giving a limited amount of ammo at the start of each stock
Now, this could be done in two ways. You could have it so that by default the hunter has an unlimited amount of stones which could deal a little damage but no knockback (similar to Fox's lasers), but some sword hits have a chance to make enemies drop a random type of slingshot ammo, which then could be picked up by using the neutral special near it (or maybe make it similar to picking up an item, idk). This is to reference big monsters dropping ammo for the slinger, either randomly when hit, or guaranteed when you grab them with the clutch claw and hit them with your weapon
The second way is to make the hunter have no ammo by default; but make them able to pick a random type of ammo from the ground with a somewhat lengthy animation (similar to Steve's mining ability) when they use the neutral special while having no ammo. This is simply a reference to the hunter being able to pick up stuff like stones or scatternuts or redpits from the enviroment, to use them as slinger ammo
2:18 Same thing for Inkling, and she uses multiple primary weapons for her moveset.
Difference there is that there's only so much you can do with each of those weapons, where as each Monster Hunter weapon can be used in a broader way by itself.

No headphones and long pants(a reference to the first Scribblenauts.)
Taunts:
Up: Writes in notebook
Down: thinking (with pen on chin)
Left and right: a simple wave.
Final Smash:
Maxwell will write something powerful (if you don't write in time, A random powerful object will spawn from the Scibblenauts series.)
Winning animations:
Maxwell writes in his notebook and looks at the camera with a smile
Maxwell jumps with a Starite in hand
Maxwell will look at the camera and wink and put a thumbs up at the same time.
The Random stuff:
Maxwell would be a medium character and would have one jump and could crawl
Maxwell could fly by summoning wings (which would look like white bird wings) and would have a time limit for flight.

Really loved the idea for Monster Hunter, I actually expected Monster Hunter to be in Fighter Pass 1 tbh, I guess Byleth kinda plays similar to her.
For characters I´d like to see in future videos, I don´t ask for too much, but I´d love to see some of these characters:

I really like the main premise of just using GS, it translates over so well. I personally dont think weapon stances would fit monster hunter.
I agree with pretty much all your move choices but I think I'd chill out on the specials a tad. Bombs on side B just seems odd, I'd replace them with shoulder charge, you already have it included in the smash attacks, I think it'd make the character feel more consistent and could be a helpful recovery tool if used mid air. Also I'd make sharpness a bigger deal, and give protective polish buff if completed or timed well (wii fit x so tasty) chuck that on down B.
I love the idea of different ammo types, but having 3 flashes every life seems absolutely mental. Starting with infinite stones makes sense, but instead of holding B for a menu, hold B to gather. Scavenge the stage for slinger ammo, bombs or traps at random and tap B to use them. Condenses all the specials into one RNG machine, perfect for smash and MH! (Peach x desire sensor)
If you want to do more Monster Hunters I think that the Insect Glaive would be awesome to do
