This video has to be the best guided meditation video. It explains the impermanence and emptiness along with awareness. The whole purpose of meditation is to lose your sense of self.

The third part starting at 19:30 is my favorite, waiting for the thoughts to arise, catching it and letting it go is very beneficial.

The watcher is the Consciousness which is nothing special but one of the creation of Nature(Causation, Factors, Law of nature). There is no I or Me that is the watcher. The watcher is inter-be with all elements in the Universe.
      Dhamma seeing Dhamma.
      Nature seeing Nature.
      There is no I.

LUNA Hi Luna, check out some teachings on Mindfulness Meditation. It helped me no end when I was in the same place as you and I have never looked back since. I recommend very much this book by Bhante Gunaratana; Mindfulness in Plain English. It will teach you all the basics on how to meditate and how to use the mind more skillfully in day-to-day life.

A monk told me to meditate twice a day to heal my mind. Thannissaro Bhikkhu has a lot of nice meditations, very focused and very easy to listen to. He emphasizes just focusing on the breath to start. He has several videos on you tube and his own channel

The illusion is right on the surface. The feeling of self is just that - an impermanent 'feeling'. The idea of mind being like movie theatre is very useful. Often my thoughts play a horror movie. But I can watch them as just another movie, and not identify with their changing and insubstantial nature. Freedom!

F.I.S.H Paragraph 3. The body of every human being is composed of eight material elements: The five gross material elements - solids, liquids, gases, fire/heat and ether/space and the three subtle material elements - the mind, the intellect and the ego. Each of the five gross material elements corresponds to one of the senses of the body. E.g. in outer space where there is a vacuum (ether), one can detect sounds via the ear, whereas solid matter can be seen with the eyes, felt with the sense of touch, tasted with the tongue, smelt with the nose and heard with the ear. Beyond these eight material elements is the true self - the eternal soul, which pervades the entire body. That explains why we say "This is my hand" "This is my mind". Who is the owner of the body? It is us, the anti-matter, the inextinguishable spiritual spark, the soul ! We, the soul, are eternally immutable and are by nature situated in unadulterated bliss and in perfect knowledge of the absolute truth. This purity has been “covered” and corrupted by sin (or selfishness). The body is merely a temporary vehicle for this ever-existing spiritual entity, for as Lord Jesus Christ said "The body counts for nothing - it is the spirit which gives life".
One who considers himself to be nothing more than a physical (and mental/intellectual) body is no more intelligent than an ignorant ass or cow.

Thank you so much. thoughts are spam mail, don't know where they come from or how to stop them. It's the same as when I chant, the ego gives a running commentary, like a bad back seat driver as it tries to hijack one's spiritual seeking, pretending it is in fact doing the seeking. Wise to it's tricks now.

Who's the knower - according to Vedanta, it's consciousness. You can't see it directly, only through what is illuminated by it. Only question: is it eternal, or just as temporary as body-mind? I want to find out ;)

    • @kampagang9236
      @kampagang9236 5 років тому

Even the knower is impermanence. Consciousness is impermanence. Nothing is impermanence. Except the Law of Nature which called Dhamma, DhammaDhatu or Tathata = Suchness.
Suchness is the same meaning with Emptiness, Nothingness, Voidness and at the same time is Allness, Wholeness, Oneness, Interconnectedness.

[SN 3.196] At one time in Savatthi, the venerable Radha seated himself and asked of the Blessed Lord Buddha: “Anatta, anatta I hear said venerable. What pray tell does Anatta mean?” “Just this Radha, form is not the Soul, sensations are not the Soul, perceptions are not the Soul, assemblages are not the Soul, consciousness is not the Soul"

This is good as explanation of the meditation but not good as a guided meditation itself. It's too intellectually stimulating.
No self is found easily, there's no need for all the fancy words and explanations if one just wants to be and feel

Hahaha, Buddha use soul only for mere people. For true, Buddha always taught about Not-Self.
      There is no separate self.
Never, never have a separate self or Atman.
      Anatta is the Ultimate Reailty.
      Even Nirvana is not (separate)self.
