Daks Over Duxford 2019

23 Dakotas from the D-Day Squadron and Daks over Normandy assemble with hundreds of paratroops at Imperial War Museum Duxford for a two day D-Day-75 event. Unfortunately high winds put paid to a practice jump on 4th June. Watch 21 Dakotas load up and leave en route to Normandy for a commemorative mass parachute drop on 5th June 2019 part of the D-Day 75.

Well filmed and well edited. I was there. I'm also an ex pilot. And the Daks are gorgeous. But it's the shots of the paratroopers I find most moving.

For many of us in Vietnam, flying the C-47, and being shot down.... meant only one thing. No surrender...No mercy...only death.
