    As always, nice to see you and Cousin Scott working together. I enjoyed the ride along. Your 4020 sounded pretty good. That seedbed finisher works pretty well. Wish I had one. Glad you guys are getting seed in the ground. I'm getting things ready here - finished spreading fertilizer today and continued disking.

      I got a few more acres of soybean planted yesterday pretty much a non-eventful type day things went well. Glad you're getting things accomplished up there on your farm. We've got a high probability for rain here today so I'm not going to work up anymore land until I see how this rain prediction works out. 😊☕

    Hope You both got all your corn and beans planted. I’ve always said if I could have only one disk with a 60 to 80 horse tractor it would be hands down a offset.

      I got some more soybean seed in the ground yesterday. we have a good probability of rain here this afternoon so I'm taking today off. It used to make me really angry when I called it wrong and had a bunch of ground worked up for planting and then rain came and messed it all up. ⛈️

    Man yeah,more team work!! I absolutely love that planter setup he built! Looks like a great call on using the disk in that wonderful NC clayish soil!! That sed bed finisher is amazi g, been eyeballing one for a long time, but still out of my budget range. But man that thing does an amazing job!! You guys are such an inspiration, and can't wait to see the fruits of your labor start growing!! Thank you Mr SBF, awesome footage in the implements too!! One big advantage I see with older equipment like that over the new is that even though you're not able to cover as much ground in a day like the new equipment you're able to technically get in the field a little sooner than someone with new equipment because it's much lighter and causes less compaction.

      Using this planter cousin Scott put together makes it a lot easier to shoot for just above 120,000 seeds per acre. The old grain drill method of planting was more or less a controlled spill and somewhat difficult to actually meter the seed.
      As you can see from the report I gave you the link to a lot of different variables then considerations go into selecting an ideal seed population count for your specific conditions.
      Thanks for watching here. 😊☕

    Do you every grow corn? Or you just grow soybeans?

    • @SoybeanFarmer3300
      @SoybeanFarmer3300  2 роки тому

      My first cousin who has gotten back into farming has raised corn now for 3 years. This year, his 3rd year, he's got six acres of corn here on the little family farm. It's been a real blessing to me that he would come back to farming🙏

    • @natevanlandingham1945
      @natevanlandingham1945 2 роки тому

      @@SoybeanFarmer3300 yea I see he plants it, I was just wondering about you, since corn is the big cash crop. But me not being a farmer maybe our southern sandy souls are more suited to grow beans than corn. I know our yields are nothing compared to what they get out in Iowa.

      I wonder if farming simulator can simulate a breakdown of older equipment where parts are no longer readily available and very difficult to find in the salvage yards? Then taking it to the next level of flustration as you realize you're missing out on an ideal harvest window? 🤔

    • @SoybeanFarmer3300
      @SoybeanFarmer3300  2 роки тому

      That snow storm blowing across the northern portion of the US last week had to be a huge frustration for the farmers up there. We have a high probability of rain in the forecast for today so I'm taking a wait and see attitude. One thought is, the seed we already have in the ground could use the water and the other thought is I don't want to waste fuel preparing land and then have it get rained on before I can plant it. Does $4 a gallon fuel make your tractor run better? Mine don't seem to know the difference 🤔
