The logging industry in the U.S. is based on land rotation and reforestation, and has been for nearly half a century. The trees the logging industry are harvesting today were planted by the logging industry decades ago. In their place, new trees will be planted. In fact, there are currently more forest acres in the U.S. than in the 1950s, and the number is growing each year. The logging industry, working in conjunction with the U.S. forest service, has managed to outpace forest renewal beyond what is harvested AND what dies from natural causes such as blight or insect damage. Now you know!
Indeed. This is actually case with all of the bigger western logging countries. Meaning US, Canada, Sweden and Finland. Ponsse I believe is a Finnish company as well.

The crane hanging right infront is not a problem in any way. You are supposed to see the harvester head at all times, and it doesn't block your view forward because you are going to hug the trees with it anyway. In my opinion, this is the best possible way to place the crane. Like in Valmet/Komatsu machines, you always have the crane blocking view to your right side, which was a big problem for me when I operated one for a few weeks. I just hope the bearings for the cabin are done to last long.
I don't think so. the new scorpion got a triple frame, one just for the cab/crane and a software just for stabilising the machine while driving and work. Valmet just have a rotating cab with crane on it. Ponsse also had one in the 80's ;)

Do you have a designated mechanic, or do you get training for basic mechanic mentainace as well?
Farming Simulator 15 brought me here. When I realized this actually exists I now want to be a logger.

Definately the best Ponsse harvester! I love to work with this machine!
Amazing! Ponsse has outdone themselves once again!!
This is actually very good for forests, everyone should learn about this. Woods are a good source of material.
This is my kind of nature walk. But seriously this is the best time to work outdoors, no bugs.
Yep. Looks like a pretty gorgeous day.
