Hi Juva, thanks for your videos, they are really helpful. It seems I have no problems with note-taking and understanding the context, but I still make about 5-8 mistakes. Almost all of them occurred because I did not read the question/answers carefully or listened to that part carefully. My reading section has these problems, too. Can you suggest something I can do to raise my attention and avoid this kind of mistakes?
Hi Elina, I'm so glad they are helpful to you :). I know what you are talking about. The questions in TOEFL Reading and Listening are formulated in a way that if you slightly misread them, you will pick the wrong answer. I'd recommend this: When you read a question always remind yourself to read carefully. Always think: Is there a word that is easy to miss? You must do this with every question. If you practice for a while, this will become an automatic process and you will not make this mistake in the TOEFL test. Hope this helps :)
You're most welcome! Taking notes in the TOEF is definitely a challenge. I'd recommend practicing this before so that you know what works best for you.
Hi Bawa, I'm so glad you like it. There are usually several conversations and several lectures. I therefore recommend practicing both, so that you are prepared.
Hey 😀 No worries, you can do this! Try to focus on the key points of the listening. To do this, you must know the question types. Have a look at my TOEFL Listening playlist, you can find videos about the question types there. This will help you focusing on the right points.
Hi Juva, I’ve been watching your videos and I really like how you explain everything. I would like to know if you are doing one on one or group lecture or tutorial?
Hi, thank you so much, I'm so glad you like it! I'm afraid at the moment I don't offer any lectures or tutorials. However, if you have any questions feel free to post them in the comments I will be happy to answer them :)
I know this may differ from person to person but would you mind sharing your study habit or preparation during TOEFL? I’m planning to take the exam on April 17. Thank you.😊
Is it possible that my score whilst listening to the CONVERSATION Task is much higher when I am not taking notes at all? :D Whats your recommendation for LECTURE listening task, on which type of words should I concentrate? Many thanks, u r the best"
In TOEFL Listening I'd recommend only taking notes of the most important things. Regarding the conversation task this means writing down details that are difficult to remember, regarding the lecture I'd note the most important points the lecturer gives and the details of the topic he explains. Does this help? :)
Hello Juva am samuel Okalebo from Uganda and a semi finalist for IREX Community Solutions program i am needed to take TOEFL test between march and Aprill i need your mentorship on this please
If you take the TOEFL in the test center, you will be provided with headphones. If you take the TOEFL Home Edition, you are not allowed to use headphones. Hope this helps!
The listing part consists of 2-3 lectures and then 2-3 conversations, Do we have to listen to all the lecture voice records at once and then answer the ~24 questions at once, then same for the conversions? Or I can listen to them record by record and answer each record questions alone?
The questions will appear after each recording. After you have answered the questions, you listen to the next recording, then you answer the questions regarding that recording and so on.
Hi, I have a very basic question. Do we have to answer the questions meanwhile we are still listening to the track? Or do we have some time to answer after the track?
Hi Juan, in TOEFL Listening you can listen to the audio one time only. That's why it's important to take some notes so that you don't forget important points. Hope this helps :)
Hello, I find your videos very helpful, thank you very much. Could you please tell How I can take notes in the most convenient way as we are not allowed to use regular pens and papers while taking the exam? Best
Hi, I'm so glad the videos are helpful to you. That's correct, you are allowed to use only 1 whiteboard or 1 transparency sheet. If you want to have a feeling similar to writing on paper I'd recommend using a transparency sheet. Since you are allowed to use only one I'd recommend practising before you take the TOEFL test. Make sure that you know how many notes fit on your sheet, so that you know when you have to erase your notes during the TOEFL. Hope this helps :)
Hello! Great video, thank you for the help. I would like to know if we are allowed to write down the Listening templates on the whiteboard during the 10-minutes-break (I am going to memorize them but I’ll write it down before the Listening part starts, just in case).
Hi, thank you, I'm glad you liked it! You are only allowed to take notes during the test. The rules for the TOEFL Home Edition are the same as for the test center.
@@juva I’m sorry, I meant before the Speaking section, not before the Listening part. Can I write down the templates on the whiteboard (writing it from my mind) before the Listening part starts (Home Edition test)? Thanks again!
@@leireriosUnfortunately you are only allowed to take notes during the Speaking section, not before. I'd recommend memorizing the Speaking template before, if you do that, you shouldn't have any problems even if you are nervous. Hope this helps :)
Excellent question! I'd recommend taking notes of the most important information which may sometimes include the kind of information you mentioned. Usually, you won't be asked for years, names and so on, but it might sometimes be relevant to a question.
Hi :) It can take a bit longer, so don't worry if you need to wait a bit. If it takes too long I'd recommend contacting ETS and asking them whether everything is ok with your test.
@@myleneaffes1487 It is possible, but it doesn't have to be like that. If you need your scores quickly I'd recommend contacting ETS and telling them. This way you may accelerate the process.
You are allowed to take notes in the TOEFL. If you take the test in the test center you can use paper, if you take the TOEFL Home Edition, you must use a transparency sheet or whiteboard with an erasable marker.
I'm not sure whether I understand your question correctly. Do you mean that you would like to have a video where I show you how to solve the different question types?

I took my TOEFL IBT home edition test today and scored full marks in reading and listening. Will update once I have the full set of scores as well. Thanks so much for your videos, they really helped me in preparing for TOEFL in a short span of 10 days.
Congratulations! That's awesome, you can be so proud of yourself. I'm so glad I could help. I'd love to know your scores once you have them :).
@@juva I finally got my scores today and I have scored 117/120 :)
@@dancetravellove5392 Congratulations! That’s an amazing score, you can be so proud of yourself! I'd love to ask you a few questions about your experience. If you are interested in that, please drop me an email at contacting.juva@gmail.com . I'd love to hear from you :)
@@juva I'm very grateful for your answer. I will try to follow your advice, thanks again
thanx for the tips... but taking a note for as little as 3 seconds might cause you to miss a very important detail #myOpinion
You're most welcome! Taking notes in the TOEF is definitely a challenge. I'd recommend practicing this before so that you know what works best for you.
You said there are no penalty points for listening..so do other sections have a penalty if the answers go wrong?
That's a great question! No, you don't get penalty points in the TOEFL.
Do you think if it could be a good idea to read the answers while I listen to the audio?
It could be tedious and difficult right! 😳
You cannot read the answer while listening because you will only get the questions and answer choices after you have listened to the audio.
Thanks alot so informative
Glad it was helpful!
Your tips are really helpful
Glad you like them! :)
Hi Juva, thank you so much for all you do. Is it possible to have 3 conversations tasks and maybe just one lecture task?
Hi Bawa, I'm so glad you like it. There are usually several conversations and several lectures. I therefore recommend practicing both, so that you are prepared.
@@juva ☺👍🏽
Your videos helped me a lot but one suggestion try to use L-cut in Your video editing ❤
I'm so glad they were helpful to you! Great suggestion :)
Hey juva, i lose my focus during listening examples of toefl listening they are so long pleaase can u advice me!!!
Hey 😀 No worries, you can do this! Try to focus on the key points of the listening. To do this, you must know the question types. Have a look at my TOEFL Listening playlist, you can find videos about the question types there. This will help you focusing on the right points.
Thak you Juva.
I'm so glad you like it 😀.
Great! Thanks a lot.💞
@@DrMjVeterinarian You're so welcome
I know this may differ from person to person but would you mind sharing your study habit or preparation during TOEFL? I’m planning to take the exam on April 17. Thank you.😊
@@DrMjVeterinarian You're totally right, TOEFL preparation is definitely an important topic. I noted your wish :)
Hey Juva, my listening does not improve. Can you please provide some strategies?
Hey :) Check out my TOEFL Listening playlist. You can find strategies for solving different question types and for note-taking there. Hope this helps!
you are the best!!!!!!
Thank you so much!! I'm so happy you like it!
Amazing! very clear information
Glad it was helpful!
Hello Juva am samuel Okalebo from Uganda and a semi finalist for IREX Community Solutions program i am needed to take TOEFL test between march and Aprill i need your mentorship on this please
Hello Samuel, so great that you want to take the TOEFL! If you have any questions, please put them in the comments, I'll be happy to answer them :).
Which headphone should we use to listening
If you take the TOEFL in the test center, you will be provided with headphones. If you take the TOEFL Home Edition, you are not allowed to use headphones. Hope this helps!
The listing part consists of 2-3 lectures and then 2-3 conversations, Do we have to listen to all the lecture voice records at once and then answer the ~24 questions at once, then same for the conversions? Or I can listen to them record by record and answer each record questions alone?
The questions will appear after each recording. After you have answered the questions, you listen to the next recording, then you answer the questions regarding that recording and so on.
Thaaaaaank you so much!!!!
I'm so glad you like it 😀.
Hi, I have a very basic question. Do we have to answer the questions meanwhile we are still listening to the track? Or do we have some time to answer after the track?
Hi Ana, in TOEFL Listening you first listen to the audio and after that you answer the questions. Hope this helps :).
Do you know if you can go back to review your answers in the listening part?
As far as I know you cannot go back and change your answers in TOEFL Listening.
Like too much the way she talk It’s so clear and understandable!!!! Wow it makes me feel I know ENGLISH!!!! But yes the STRATEGIES, IT IS THE CLUE
Hi Jose, I'm so glad you like it :)
I have a doubt, in the Toefl Home Edition, in the listening section, how many times you can hear the audio? One or two? Thanks
Hi Juan, in TOEFL Listening you can listen to the audio one time only. That's why it's important to take some notes so that you don't forget important points. Hope this helps :)
you are the best!!
Thank you!
Good tips
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks
I'm so glad you find it helpful!
I will take the exam tomorrow pray for me 🤧
I wish you all the best for your TOEFL, you can do it! 😀
In listening do I need to take note of years, names of people or places?
Excellent question! I'd recommend taking notes of the most important information which may sometimes include the kind of information you mentioned. Usually, you won't be asked for years, names and so on, but it might sometimes be relevant to a question.
@@juva thank you so much
2:45 in my case i have given only 20 seconds to review the questions
Wow, that's fast!
Hello 🙂
After the TOEFL exam, the result are really available between 7-10 days or it can be more please? :)
Hi :) It can take a bit longer, so don't worry if you need to wait a bit. If it takes too long I'd recommend contacting ETS and asking them whether everything is ok with your test.
@@juva If i took my TOEFL on 20 january , Can I have the results before 1 february ? 🙂
@@myleneaffes1487 It is possible, but it doesn't have to be like that. If you need your scores quickly I'd recommend contacting ETS and telling them. This way you may accelerate the process.
@@juva thank you so much :)
on tip #1, you only see the first question after listening to the entire audio clip.
That's correct :) That's why you must know the question types in advance so that you know what you need to focus on when listening.
This is amazing. Thank you so much. Did you also take the GRE? Could you help us out with that one too?
I'm so glad you like it! I didn't take the GRE, so I have no experience with that, sorry.
Hi Juva
Where can I can found some listening practice for TOEFL?
Hi Elidjana, you can find a TOEFL Listening practice test on the ETS website. Hope this helps :)
Thank you Juva.
You're most welcome!
Hi Juva...are quickcards templates for the speaking test allowed in the test center as guides while sitting the exam? Thanks
Hi Joel, you are not allowed to have anything with you during the TOEFL test.
We cannot take notes in the TOEFL exam.
You are allowed to take notes in the TOEFL. If you take the test in the test center you can use paper, if you take the TOEFL Home Edition, you must use a transparency sheet or whiteboard with an erasable marker.
Soo helpful!!
Thank you Luciana :) I'm so glad you liked it!
Could you please share with good websites to practice listening?
I'm afraid I have no experience with such websites, so I can't say anything about that.
Can I able to use notes on toefl ibt
Yes, you are allowed to take notes in the TOEFL.
