I just discovered this channel about two days ago. What I really like and appreciate is the fact that you do pure, healthy manicures without any fake nails. Really Nice Tutorials. Thanks
I really appreciate natural nails and manicures! I find that when I request manicures they’re usually not done with great detail. I believe it’s because people are more accustomed to getting acrylics and various extensions. It seems more attention is placed on nail art rather than the actual health of the nail and overall appearance of the hand health.
Hi! I have a video suggestion. Could you do a video where you show your all time favourite nail polish colors (and from what certain brand/formula)? I would love to know for example your top 10 polishes you keep going back to. :)
It’s a beautiful look. Very classic and timeless. Thanks for explaining your method for a dry manicure. I’d not seen one before and it makes sense why you prefer it.
Ok- call out every single thing that I have been doing that is wrong! I really had no idea!! Thank you so much for so many little (and big) helpful tips.
I love the Dior Nail Glow! Your clients nails and hands are lovely! They do look nice and healthy. When I wore acrylics, the nail tech I had the longest would give my hand a very gentle shake when I tensed up and didn’t have my hand relaxed. 😂 I knew that keeping my hand relaxed really helped the nail tech, but would stiff up without knowing it. I absolutely love the way you educate when you give a mani. I’ve heard you say in one video that you were repeating yourself. I wouldn’t worry about that. New people will be watching your newer videos. I hope you keep educating with your videos.
Amazing video! That's a type of manicure I would like, will try it on myself. Thanks for the explanation about the cuticle and proximal fold, it makes so much sense now.
I learned a neat trick for taking off dark polish like black especially if they have dry skin is put nail oil on the nail and surrounding skin then do your acetone trick. I know you mentioned it but has really helped me in the winter months with clients with dry skin. Thanks
Acetone removes the oil right away, it doesn't really protect the skin. Also acetone is on the skin literally for 1 minute, it doesn't really dry out the skin permanently especially done once every week or so....
I always put petroleum jelly on my skin around my nails. I also put acetone additive in my pure acetone. Both of those help a lot. My skin never looks white or dry after I remove polish. The acetone additive is hydrating but it doesn’t alter the effectiveness of the acetone. The acetone will work just as fast. Oh, and the acetone additives come in different fragrances and will smell better then acetone. My Bliss Kiss sells the best for your nails and skin acetone additive because she puts some of her oil in it, and I have found Ana Seidel’s oil to be the best. Not only that, she has a lot of free to read articles about nails based in science and from Doug Schoon’s book. Baroness X is an indie polish maker but she sells nice acetone additive, too. It is hydrating, too. Her fragrances are a little stronger then My Bliss Kiss and she also tints the additive sometimes, so it will look pretty. She has a bigger variety of scents, too. A nail polish swatcher and blogger, swears lavender tinted acetone keeps her nails from turning yellow. I know lavender cancels out yellow, but don’t know if that would actually work. I am trying it and do think it helps, but that could be wishful thinking. 😂 Demi (Owner of Baroness X) will tint the Acetone Additive lavender if you want her too. Just email her before hand for instructions on how to order it that way. I think she just has you include a note in your order asking her too. I love and use both My Bliss Kiss and Baroness X’s Acetone additive’s in the acetone I use to remove my polish. For clean up of oops after a mani, I use just pure acetone. Scent wise, I’d go with Baroness X. Of course, hydration wise, I’d go with My Bliss Kiss. Another indie business owner that sells acetone additive is Vibrant Vinyl’s. April sells base and top coats and other things, but doesn’t make her own polish like Baroness X does. April does add fragrance to her base and top coats if you want her too. The scent doesn’t last more then a day or two, but can be fun. April has a base coat that is called Double Bond, I think. It is a combo of a ridge filler and a sticky base coat. She also has a good quick dry top coat called Hard & Fast. It’s a thicker, plump/plush one. No clue why I rambled on, but since I typed it, I’m not deleting it. 😂
Totally from your recommendations, I picked up Dior Glow this week. I always thought it would be like those dreadful neon sheer Cutex pinks that made me look like a carbon monoxide victim. OMG THAT COMBO IS AMAZING. Put it in yesterday & my Husband was baffled #YouRock #ThankYou
What a gorgeous manicure. I wish I could wear my nails that way, but as I've gotten older my nails have ridges, they split, and they just don't look nice with sheer colors on them. Any suggestions for treatment base coats? I've tried many! I would love to have you do my nails...the massage looks sooooo soothing. Lovely video.
Hi Jane! Can you email me a picture of your nails? Bare, wiped with alcohol. Are they very bendy/ flexible? Or hard and brittle? thesalonlife[at]gmail[dot]com
Sadly DD doesn't have a nail brightener ;( You can always use base, coat of Pinkies Up and then top coat. It doesn't have that brightening quality though....
Excellent video, Anna. I'm using the the flat edge of the orangewood stick to push back the nail fold, not the side like you do, so I'll be changing that. I've always used the fine buffer block to "rough up" the surface of the nail because it makes the base coat/polish stick better, so 'no' to that? Again, excellent vid with tons of tips. Hugs
Hi Laurent! You are right, buffing will rough up the nail surface and it will improve adhesion BUT over time it can weaken the nail (especially thin nails) and weak and bendy nails do not hold nail polish well. I have some clients who have super thick and resilient nails and they can peel off gel polish (not that I recommend that ever) and their nails are ok. But that’s not that common. I know what kind of flat edge you are taking about. That one is not bad and not as pointy as the one I use. I use it sideways because it’s safer and I do prefer to angle it that way. If your way is comfortable for you then it should be fine :) Thank you for your comment. It’s always so nice to see your comments :)
@@TheSalonLife Thanks Anna. I have SUPER bendy nails, which I've known, but with all the years of matte clear polish, I never noticed any chipping of the polish, but with color I have chips all the time. So that answers the question of why my colored polish keeps chipping off. And no, your way of using the side of the orangewood stick is MUCH more comartable, I tried it last nice. You're a genius! Thansks again and a Hi to MSL. :o)
Hi, finally I found my favorite natural/healthy looking manicure! I’m not finding the Dior combo, as I would like, so can you recommend another product, with the same results? Thanks 🙏
I keep looking and so far I haven't been successful. I can make a video of the clear pink polishes I own and talk about pros and cons... would you be interested?
Hello again and thank you for all your insight! Wondering if the Dior glow stains your nails. I recently purchased DD thanks to you. (Used your affiliate link and promo code; great discount, TY!!!)

Do you think it is safe for using it without any nail polishbif your nails already strong ? And also it kinda silly question but it is safe if you do handling food ? Thank you
I love this but as I’ve had the issue with Dior flaking off easily I wondered if you’ve tried the equivalent nail glow by Nails inc? I find their polishes last well for me.
Dior Nail Glow doesn’t do that. I wear it all the time and I use it all the time on my clients. I’m testing the NailsInc right now against Dior. One hand with Dior Nail Glow and the other one with NailsInc Glowing My Way.
