When you buy a house and turn into a home, it’s hard to find anything (other than a 30+ year old Vinny) that compares. You have a lovely home in a lovely village. ❤️🙋♀️😊
your mechanic is spot-on, either a collapsed flexi hose or a seized caliper flexi's are rare on a transit, but seized calipers are not easiest way for you to check is to take the wheel off, pump the pedal till the brake sticks on, then loosen the bleed nipple [with your foot off the brake], a dribble of fluid + still stuck, caliper faulty, squirt of fluid, then brakes free, flexi blocked. recon calipers are still available, about £200 pair, always buy a pair, it stops any nasty pulling to one side, in case the new ones are slightly different from originals. now take good care of poor vinnie mind...
When I watch your videos I am usually laying down and eating something or other. Then I watch the two of you speed walking up hills and feel so guilty!!
I think you have made the right decision regarding the land. Best to stay transient, don’t be a slave to land, it’s a very hard life especially as one gets older. You have a beautiful property with views to die for, a simple life is a happy life. With all the new parts that Vinnie has had fitted he will be like brand new 😂😂. Good luck with everything and wish you all the best going forward. Ps. You have a very entertaining channel, you are both wonderful people 😎😎👍.
Your Andalusian home is gorgeous!! Poor Vinny. He didn’t like the messing around with his parts. Hope he gets fixed up soon and lives to take us traveling again! Another great video guys thank you ✨✨💚
Great news that the Vinster passed - sticker brake calliper by the sound of it - had a few of these over the years!! - here’s to the next 8 1/2 months!!
As an ex ford mechanic, advice is replace ALL flexible rubber brake hoses, they have a service life, sticking brake calipers and caliper carriers are easily replaced to.Change calipers in pairs to give extended service life!! You can get service exchange items. Good luck !
I can't even believe you went through this. The good news is the inspection was passed before the breaks failed. I also own an old vehicle. Every inspection time is stressful, and I think I will soon be at a cross road of having to replace it. I think with the next "big job" I will need to make the change. People with newer vehicles just can't relate to the anxiety leading to an inspection. You will know when it is time. With all the work done, Vinny may give you another year or two, maybe more.
Don't take that greenery for granted. Water is LIFE for sure. Never mind the van.. glad Nick is doing better and taking GOOD care. I hear that AG1 is pretty good stuff. 👍
I rang your friend Mick on Thursday, I'm so glad I remembered him from your vlog as my van failed it's mot quite spectacularly. My local garage aren't up to the job although willing - which spells very 'expensive bill' in plain English. I'd far rather my money goes to Mick plus I trust him & his greater knowledge/experience imo. He was very reassuring & unphased by my vans troubles which was a huge weight off my mind! Hope you get your brakes sorted ok. x
Thats so strange you have to pay for solar panel’s&Awning 😮 wonder if thats for every where 🤔 Poor vinny he sure having up & Downs lets hope its onwards upwards after the weekend 🙏 Have a Good Easter weekend 🥰 Aww Charlie loves listening to your voices as your chatting. His head going from side to side Such a Cutie ❤.
Simple test to determine if it is your brake callipers or brake hose : Start the engine - pump the brakes several times until the wheel is binding - undo the bleed screw on the calliper - if brake fluid spurts out and the wheel is free to turn then the fault is the flexible hose - if not then it’s the calliper , my partner is a mechanic , so hopefully this is helpful
I’m relieved you are not buying land. I didn’t want to have to stop watching you guys too. To be content with what you have without the need or desire for more is refreshing. ❤
Well guys what a day for you?..we were clapping for one minute ansd then couldn't believe it...at least this time you were near home this time i know it doesn't make it better but it helps...hope all goes well at the garage.. see you next week..
A sticking brake piston slider & it's a 10 minute job, don't worry it's a common thing that a bit of sandpaper & grease will sort out, long live the vinster❤
You make this stuff so exciting, and I LOVE IT! You have that certain spark which makes your stories so watchable. I have watched all your stuff over the years, and always look forward to your next episode. My other favourite channel has always been CAMPERVIBE. I think a big part of why both channels hit the mark is the respect and love that both you two and them have for each other. That and the well crafted and skillful videography, and appreciation of the lovely places and scenery you experience. I think your funniest and well designed moment was Nicks "paraglider flight" in Norway. Keep it up guys!
What a lovely message 😊.. Enjoyed this and Thankyou so much for all your continued support, so glad you’re still enjoying the vids after a long time watching ❤️ x
There l was watching on your gorgeous terrace and loving the views, listening to your change of plans for land, which l think is a great idea for now btw. Oh dear what a shame about the brakes, hey you always come out the other side ok. Enjoy your Easter, fingers crossed for the Vinster, and see you next week.......Alioban xxxx
Oh no , we have two vws mines over 40 . We understand the love and loyalty and had it towed last time the guy took us with our giant deerhound lurcher . I hope you get vinny sorted poor vinster just the brakes hopefully. Oh Murphys blooming law
Isn't it funny how life works out? You get home and discover that you love where you are, it's very green, the roof terrace is lovely, you love your home. Why start working the land now? You two are just so put together on this issue. Wait and see, yeah? As for the brakes, it was scary - smoke and sparks, minutes after passing an inspection, when you're thinking all is well. Be calm. They are brakes. Brakes are a lot easier to fix than a blown engine...brakes have a language all their own, and when something is wrong they use smoke and sparks to communicate their discomfort. Or they screech. Or they get sloppy. You'll be fine. I am absolutely convinced of that. Happy home coming to you both. xo Suzi
I hear you about making a relo decision. Once I have a comfy home I’m set until something big happens. That said, I moved last year from a Tennessee to Arkansas and left a cabin I really loved. One of my neighbors provided that boost to move. The cabin was 25 miles away from a town so that was an irritant but a neighbor came by one day and said he’d like to get his brother to make an offer on my place so I said sure. Two months later, no offer so I called a realtor. She thought my little cabin was now worth more than twice what I paid for it! Let’s GO’. It happened in one weekend. I’ve been in Arkansas for a year and I’m doing great. My ‘84 Vanagon is in a shop to change out the VW engine for a Subaru(Think $$$) and I have a new st of roads and trails. Life is good. I’ll be back on the road in three months or so. Congrats on the inspection. I don’t have to deal with those in Arkansas.your brake problem sounds like a clogged brake valve. Shouldn’t be much to fix if parts can be had.
I thought that was an April Fools Joke, so gutted for you! My 23year old transit is broken down and your older one is my inspiration too keep mine alive! Keep being Pawesome! :)
Well, I guess you might say that it helps you “break” up your trip a little bit more… It gives you an opportunity to take a break from it all… Maybe I should “break” away from my third pun in a row… 😮😅😊
Happy Easter to you both , so pleased your van passed the vehicle inspection, can’t wait to to see your next episode to find out about what has happened to poor vinny , good luck 🤞
Pleased you are feeling better, I had a hospital aquired infection and it has taken seven months to clear confirmed yesterday, Happy Easter. If you are happy where you live stay it looks very nice.
Had something similar happen on a Transit and I found that the clamp that holds the brake hose in place had corroded and crushed the hose so the brake wouldn't release properly. Cleaned off the rust and it was fine.
I'm sure it's the break calliper getting stuck,it's an easy fix. It happened to my 1979 vw camper, I took the calliper off, ordered a calliper rebuild kit, cleaned it all up,put back together, and Bob's your uncle, job done. Don't worry, easy fix.
As a mechanic I see these kinda faults all the time, it's normally a partially seized brake caliper, when you brake it sticks on a bit and heats up the brake disc. Which then gets hot and expands fractionally, then when you stop for a bit and it cools down, in shrinks back to normal and the brake free's itself off 👍 Could be a delaminated brake hose, but less likely given your symptoms. Anyway hope it gets sorted without too much expense for you guys 👍 Great channel, I'm currently building my own campervan and hope to tour Europe next year!
Really weird, similar thing after my wife's 17 year old car was recently MOT'd. Passed OK but driving the 4 miles home the car felt sluggish. When I got out there was a very strong "brake" smell. I think the MOT tester had pulled the handbrake on very hard and the caliper had stuck in the on position ( this cars handbrake works on the rear calipers). The following day everything was back to normal but I suspect new caliper (s) will be needed soon I dont think it will be a big or expensive job fixing the caliper on Vinnie as long as the parts are available. I really look forward to Thursday evening so I can watch the weekly vlog, you guys are very engaging. It would drive me mad making up a bed every night, our touring caravan has a fixed bed which is heavenly !
Since 1980 I've traveled all over Europe, and from 87/89 I spent touring Europe with our band playing festivals and gigs with a car and caravan, but like you know once your vehicle goes wrong your home goes with it 😪 I love your little house and given the choice of having the keys to your van or house I'd have the keys to your house all year long 😁 I hope you get Vinny sorted 🤗
Have a great Easter at home. Weirdly I'd recently been thinking of giving AG1 a try, so I'll use your link. Re Vinny, it's not unusual to have a brake problem caused by the extra heavy braking during the test. Quite often it can disturb dirt in an old master cylinder or damage an old seal, but your master cylinder was just replaced in the UK, if I remember correctly. So I reckon your problem is probably just a sticking piston, pad or slider. I can't remember what the front callipers are like on the age of Vinny. But should be pretty straight forward. Better that than having a problem during the test. Have a quick tidy up and get on the sun deck with a drink 😎🍸🍻
Charlie looked like he was listening , and thinking and we were home and missed it all 😄 well at first I was shouting at you two to think positive when you took Vinny for his test ,That was all good then oh my goodness ,it's almost like watching a comedy 😅 no not really we just need to pray harder this will be the last thing to go wrong ,Happy Easter both of you 💖💖
There doesn't appear to be any bad rust or corrosion underneath that van and the engine sounds as if it will run forever it passed the test so it's worth two ( no use replacing only one side) new front brake calipers and pads. Never skimp on brakes guys especially the roads you four travel on and the miles you cover !!
Thanks for the advice, having it all looked at this week, pads need change for sure, and we’ll probably try the flex hose first and callipers if need be😅
Hi guys totally love your determination, will and energy to push on despite all that has happened over the months ..felt your pain with everything..love you guys sharing the downs too makes us feel like its not just us in our van it happens to....we're you guys 100% all the way👍🏻😁❤️
I doubt it’s the brake hose it’s more likely to be either the brake calliper or the wrong servo that was recently replaced, I look forward to the diagnoses. Good luck amigos
Hi Guys, The highs and lows of motoring all in one day…unbelievable what happened with the brakes, at least you are at your beautiful residence. Take care.
Those videos of you on the roof in a tent with Nick in the kayak pool was what really got me hooked on your channel. 🤞You two are tricksters though. 😂 Congratulations Vinster. Grrrr, ugh, unfortunate turn of events Vinny.🤕🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
Hi guys. Wow! Your as lucky as us one step forward, two steps back😂. I agree that's it's probably sticky caliper piston or failed break hose. Don't give up your both strong, and resourceful characters, you'll sort it. Looking forward to watching more of your adventures soon. Hang in there guys. 👩🦲👩🦳🐕🐕🐕🚐 🙂👍

Vinny is a soul with a lot of metal parts around him, metal can Always be repaired/replaced/fixed. Vinny just needs you.
awwwww, Thankyou☺️☺️xx
When you buy a house and turn into a home, it’s hard to find anything (other than a 30+ year old Vinny) that compares. You have a lovely home in a lovely village. ❤️🙋♀️😊
Thank you so much for your lovely message. 😀
I agree with u thier house looks welcoming and pretty
I agree. I would scrap the land idea completely. Love your little place. 😂
your mechanic is spot-on, either a collapsed flexi hose or a seized caliper
flexi's are rare on a transit, but seized calipers are not
easiest way for you to check is to take the wheel off, pump the pedal till the brake sticks on, then loosen the bleed nipple [with your foot off the brake], a dribble of fluid + still stuck, caliper faulty, squirt of fluid, then brakes free, flexi blocked. recon calipers are still available, about £200 pair, always buy a pair, it stops any nasty pulling to one side, in case the new ones are slightly different from originals. now take good care of poor vinnie mind...
1 finger! “ How do you cross 1 finger when you need two” 😂 You go Nick! 😆
Better for this to happen close to home than going down a mountain road hundreds of miles away.❤
Exactly right! Thanks so much for watching..😁
When I watch your videos I am usually laying down and eating something or other. Then I watch the two of you speed walking up hills and feel so guilty!!

Wise decision about the land. You had me on edge with Vinnie.
He’s testing you guy to see how much you love him ❤😂
Are you frickin' kidding me?!?! 😮 Wow!🤭 What a day!! 😂
Vinnie, you little beauty 🚐 Your like the Terminator 😂
Oops 😬 I think I spoke too soon ( wrote this before watching the rest of the video 😂) But he is!
That’s unbelievable poor Vinnie at least it happened while you were at home the joys of motoring 😩😩
Very wise decision to put off the searching for land. Not complicating your life is a good idea.
OMG. the ups and the downs. I Iove Vinny. And your home base , the roof top. Thanks.
Well done Vinnie 👏 ✔️ , oops and good luck 🤪🤞🤞🤞👍 😎
12 of December sounds special. I finally exhaled with teeth clinched as you left us hanging for a long second. Go forth and celebrate!
Phew! At least this time you are at home and can be comfortable whilst Vinnie is fixed.
I'm clapping with one hand for you all!
Sorry all this have happened too you both about the van.what a lovely man who took you home. 🥰🥰
Thanks so much for watching..😁

Right call -- you've all you need in yer Andalusian paradise 😎
When do you say enough is enough with Vinny. One hell of a roller coaster for you. Fingers crossed
Oh blimey, what a roller coaster for you guys! I was stressed just watching it let alone living it. Fingers, toes and paws crossed here for Vinny. ❤🤞🐾
Thanks so much. 😀

Don't take that greenery for granted. Water is LIFE for sure.
Never mind the van.. glad Nick is doing better and taking GOOD care. I hear that AG1 is pretty good stuff. 👍
I bought the AG1 and tried it twice … I just couldn’t get past the grainy (no matter how hard I shook it) and gross taste of it.
Thanks Faith.. we love the greenery and yes; water is definitely life😊.. AG1 is good stuff and we’re really glad they sponsored our video ! 😊
Hooray! 8 mos!

Yay! I'm so glad you're not buying land. So many van lifers are quitting. I'm just starting out. I LOVE your videos!!!
Not wishing to be a Jonah but that test centre is the kiss of death!

Aww bless you, what a rollercoaster!

We’ll get ours back to full health soon! Thanks so much for watching..😁
I think you have made the correct decision, your house is just right as far as I can see.
Your house and view are gorgeous.
I am pleased you have made the decision regarding the land, very sensible! Strange word for you two lol😅
Hugs and Happy Easter Sara and Nick.🍀😺😺💚💚🍀🍀
❤😊
Jammy! Happy days for you!!
Well, I guess you might say that it helps you “break” up your trip a little bit more…
It gives you an opportunity to take a break from it all…
Maybe I should “break” away from my third pun in a row… 😮😅😊
Happy Easter to you both , so pleased your van passed the vehicle inspection, can’t wait to to see your next episode to find out about what has happened to poor vinny , good luck 🤞
Sounds like a new caliper will fix the problem! Good luck guys, I wouldn’t worry too much! ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼
Pleased you are feeling better, I had a hospital aquired infection and it has taken seven months to clear confirmed yesterday, Happy Easter. If you are happy where you live stay it looks very nice.

I'm sure it's the break calliper getting stuck,it's an easy fix.
It happened to my 1979 vw camper, I took the calliper off, ordered a calliper rebuild kit, cleaned it all up,put back together, and Bob's your uncle, job done. Don't worry, easy fix.
sounds like a knackered brake caliper!!
Nick and Sarah Charlie and Dizzee Excellent ✝️🙏💯
Your love for Vinny is amazing and he will be fine and good for many more adventures. Love you guys.xx
