It’s kinda sad how the wizard is so famously bad that when it gets an evolution, it comes out perfectly balanced instead of broken.
It is pretty ironic when you put into perspective but honestly, given how every evo is getting nerfed to reflect their abilities than the stats, it’s fine that the new evo wiz is balanced. Obviously, evos are still broken as hell but at least it’s nowhere near the absurd levels it was a few weeks ago and even before that.

@@kej865yeah. it is truly balanced when you dont consider the oppurtunity cost of using a wizard. it not only is taking up an evo but also you need to run wizard as a card generally.
Im glad they are adding evolutions to bad cards like wizard and are only adding stuff not health and the ability aren’t completely broken

@@kej865 every evolutions are getting nerfed, and wizard is strong he's just easy to counter. The evolved has a defensive ability, that's awesome

The main weakness of the Wizard was how it would almost always get spelled down at first sight or taken out with a knight or mini pekka, this is a good example of an evolution curbing the weaknesses of the card

2 days later supercell will notice evil wiz get low usage rates, then they'll give him the greatest buff any card has ever received in the history of clash royale.

This might actually be the first diamond pass I'll buy after the pass rework. Wizard has always seemed like an interesting card to me, but its high cost and bad stats for the cost are the reason I've never used it. Now with the shield, it's pretty much immune to spells on your side of the arena, bringing insane value against any push and some decent counterpush value.
I honestly think this evolution is great. Unlike royal recruits which are 7 elixir, wiz is 5 and still one cycle. You guys must understand that this shield is VALUE.
2:10 at this time, while building the giant + Evo wizard push, instead of the pekka, the graveyard 🪦 would have been good too, so this could replace the bowler/executioner in the giant+graveyard deck and might do well against Evo battleram too, provided you have a ready duchess for defence.
I think this is what evos should have been from the very start
Give them a unique ability to change the pacing of the game and break defense cycles
i think they should nerf the evolution and buff the normal card just like how they did with RG and Recrutis

@@Captain_Griff it does count as mid-ladder actually, even at 9k trophies there is so much megaknight wizard
8k is mid-ladder. You would have to get past 2k medals in ultimate champion before things start getting competitive.
evo wizard evo knight combo would be good i think. the weakness of the fire ring is it only works on units that are close. but the strength of knight is it can tank while its moving so a troop needs to come close to stop the knight's shield abliity making the evo wizard more effective.
you can just use a pekka against this
@@klosbati7321 not everyone uses pekka and even if they do have it you can play the combo when the dont have it in cycle.
This evo looks very underrated as it can counter a whole bunch of decks that don’t need tornado like Giant or rely on destroying counters with spells like EGiant or Poison decks. I think it pairs well with Golem instead of Giant and Pekka. I mean its good with Golem and Pekka

BOSS I’ve got a question I’ve been wanting to ask. Do you think when there are enough tower troops, duels will include them in the ruleset? That is, no repeat tower troops.
That’s very possible; I mean, they gave players the cannoneer and duchess for free however new players would probably be unhappy with that

The second evolution like ice spirit and what evolutions should be, this a right step for clash.
The shield hp seems a little overtuned but at least if they end up nerfing it they could buff the base wizard's hp to compensate

I predict evo wizard will pair exceptionally with sparky giant/gob.giant
Shield protects him from spells, or knocks back threats to him+ sparky, likely long enough to kill anything short of a bowler/exe. Evo zap/bomber r still scary but who knows, this might be the buff sparky needed 💪⚡
Sparky should have an evolution, making her immune to spells. That would be sick.

The main problem with wizard is that it dies way to quickly for a 5 elixir card, i think the shield ut gets will be good to tank spells since its usually played at the backline in a push and its the main way to kill it fast.

It seems pretty decent, if not a little underpowered, but I am glad they are going all ability focused.
The evolved wizard is great against the other evolutions. Easily destroys recruits, barbs, archers, bats, skeletons, battle ram, possibly Valkyrie(?). He'll only have trouble dealing with the royal giant, mortar and the knight
evo wizard and valkyrie are imo the Best designed evolutions
unique abilities to give them more unique and fun niches over their alternatives but not broken
they give me hope for a future where evolutions are actually good and not broken p2w bs
all they gotta do now is make them more accessible for f2p and budget players and i will be happy

Definitely a huge fan of the evo wizard, will be interesting for sure especially towards f2p and mid ladder but the concept is good and balanced

Here is the thing, this evo is very needed for the wizard.... Tho the grim reality is the moment the executioner gets an evo... The evo wizard would eat dust again, cuz executioner is a better wizard and no point in using the wizard... Has very high hp, close damage to the wizard, can deal with swarms and even hit the tower and damage swarms still, like the wizard is useless the moment you get executioner
Ill probably pick it up to finally go through Wizard mastery in 2v2
It seems they finally learned not to give unnecessary stat boosts to evolutions (only to then nerf the actually unique aspects of the evo to make up for it) but, ironically, they did it for the Wizard (the weakest card to get an evo). Also, any other card would be broken with a shield that deals that much damage & knockback, but it’s probs gonna make-up for his low viability.
I think still the regular wizzard needs Buff, increase his splash so he can kill Goblin Barrel. Inrease his damage so he can kill Firecracker/Archers
As a F2P, i'm mad I don't get to use the evolutions at their peak, but I am happy they're becoming balanced.
The evo being balanced in this case makes it bad imo. Wizard have always been garbage so having to use him just to get a balanced evo instead of using one of the other broken ones that comes with already good units would be a waste I feel. And if you fireball him he just become regular wizard again

For me, the best part about the new balance changes is that they removed the secondary new ability of the evo and made it so the new evos only had one new ability.

Cards like minion horde and skeleton army are no longer needed in the game . They should remove them to make room for some new cards
Supercell likes to give basically nerfs to minions. Everytime. Everything kills it now.
I think this will be broken, because the lightning doesn't kill the evo wiz and when support a tank like golem or giant should kill him with a troop that dead with the shield or is knock back to hit another thing

Surviving a spell seems broken tbh but killing the card with zap and fireball seems alright but I feel like it should be deadly to those who wasted their spells
Maybe increasing his damage radius per fire ball will make him viable

That’s one issue though the evo wizard is the only more so balanced evolution the rest already have an ability and additional health. They should give him more base health/ dmg on evo or make the bubble regenerate back

Evo barbs left on 1 hp from fireball and evo rg is weaker, on top of evo knight being weaker while stationary

Evo Knight getting 70% shield instead of 60% sounds like a buff for me
It's a big Nerf lol ! His hp got reduced significantly. The shield only works when he is moving and you can't kill him while moving anyways no matter 70% or 60%

Does lighting kill the shield then the wizard like battle ram?
I haven't seen it but I would assume No. It works with battle ram because the barbs and the ram are different units. Wizard on the other hand is still the same unit after the shield is removed and Lightning can't target the same unit twice.
it works the same way as with other shields (guards, cannon cart, etc.)
