I can not have enough of Yoshiki's drums especially after a stressful day. I blast XJapan through my headphones to be able to catch a clear thought.- Neither will I ever understand anybody being able to sit still during their performance. - Yoshiki is getting his hand and foot prints at the Chinese Theater in L.A.-- so well deserved!
This is one of the best concerts I thing I have seen on UA-cam. It even tops the 1 million concert in Russia by Metallica. And the ACDC one in Brasil. The audience is nuts.
The Last Live concert is great. "Endless Rain" from this concert always gets me. Watched the "We are X" documentary. According to that Toshi (singer) met a lady and was brainwashed into joining a cult so he announced that he quitting the band and this was their last concert. He didn't even want to do this concert because he thought the fans hated him for breaking up the band. Hide (guitarist with pink hair that started the song) had to convince him to do the concert. Hide died a few months after this concert. During "Endless Rain" all the band members look so sad and you can hear the emotions in Toshi voice as he is singing. Those last 2 choruses that he sings towards the end of the song is what gets me. The fans keep singing and singing when they finish the song. I think they do that because they know this is it and they want it to last as long as it can.
That was a really good choice for your guest. Yoshiki is definitely a beast. One of the things I like most about Nemophila’s cover is the absolute ease at which performs this. Followed by another 90 minutes! Oh to be young again.
X Japan is THE classic Japanese metal band. They were immensely popular and had a huge cultural impact in Japan. You could do a documentary just covering their evolving hairstyles and stage costumes. Their story is epic. They recently released a single: "Angel". BTW: their drummer, Yoshiki, now lives in LA and is Gene Simmons next door neighbor.
Please try "Dahlia" from Dahlia Tour Final (Tokyo Dome, 1996) as your next song from X Japan. It's progressive metal. Or the version from 2009 with guitar intro from Sugizo, whichever you want.
Should have asked Albert if he's ever heard of some obscure British band called Iron Maiden that's been around for a while. I guess not, but one never knows...
For those who would like to know, the 30+ minute song they refer to at the end of the video is the Live version of Art of Life

Doing gods work, introducing X Japan to legendary artists, keep em coming

I believe it's at the Tokyo Dome that X Japan sold out 18 times.

I think you should check out Hide ( he-day) with spread beaver, he was not only just in X Japan but had a solid career as well, ( pink hair)
