Im in London UK and have been following your live sessions on Mondays and Thursdays. Normally I join late because I forget cuz of the time difference 🤦🏼 On Monday you was talking about when people say you can't sing. I've got a so-called friend who really I think is only a musical theater singer and she just loves to belt and she's sort of a soprano. I was an Alto and am now more meso soprano. I'm saying that like I actually understand what that means but I know it's higher Is
I'm not sure the correct t terminology
still but my biggest problem( and I don't know if if me ADHD 5 mad 🧠 that's not just jumping on the back of the latest. '"Thing" I've known for years. It helped me when I was a trader in the city) oh btw. I'm the lady that said that they've had nodules twice and need you to have them addressed. Surgically.
I so want to get better and stop "those" looks from 'those" people, who ,do have a really good voice but they've only got one voice. Does that make sense?
Like as I said she can do musical theater but that very nasally almost Disney type but she couldn't then go from that to singing Cher or Chrissy hinde. Janis Joplin it all sounds the same, but I can, change to more rock country etc
Unfortunately my brief singing teacher (he tends to do about 6 or 7 weeks and then makes his excuses) and I don't hear from him which to me is just either #1. He's not interested. #2 I'm beyond help! Or# 3 just helped him get out of a financial debt) who allegedly it's supposed to be a friend of sorts mainly like the other girl when it suits them makes me feel that they are both standing there saying to themselves and to each other I will just humor her.
The next week once one he will say you can sing. Hi, you don't hear what I hear. Your voice is so much clearer on the higher register. When we were doing vocal wool wraps it was very big on the shape of your mouth. But for him it's conditioned learning cuz he started at the age of about six or seven. Whereas for me I've tapped in and tapped out incidentally I think I sound like Minnie mouse on helium when I use my head voice As I'm typing this actually text talking cuz when I use my fingers it's even worse you are doing that octave C to C A to A now when I do that it sounds like I've closed the back of my throat like it's muted. I'm getting the note but there's no openness but the back of my throat is open. You're going to say placement aren't you? And I was sorry I can't don't get this placement thing. I can't get it. And yeah if I sing Cher In a complete cher style I sound like her !! And then I realized I was doing something different with my language and the now it sort of hit the top of my roof of my mouth. But about two 2 and 1/2 cm in front of yep into my throat. Can't think of the name of it That's placement isn't it? Cuz I saw drops my larynx and the notes I saw here in the back of the back of the roof of my mouth
Because I talk text. I'm guaranteeing that this is going on for ages this message so soz but I just wanted to say I've watched so many different singing teachers online and I do your Mondays and Thursdays subject to remembering time difference so I think it's 6:00 p.m. or is it 7:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. I think London UK time Various different online lessons. I just wish I could be disciplined.
Because this said singing to each other is a bit checker and hide. When I said I wanted to do some strides and he said he couldn't stand any songs by her and didn't think that was Sue my voice. Now I know he's wrong and then I said to him and the Disney singer. I really want to learn the prayer. I have had a daughter until this point and they I watch them and they gave each other that look and Stewart s for me and said I really really don't think you're anywhere and you're ready to sing that and I said I know it's a proper song but I call the professor I said but that's how you get better. You've got to push yourself and test yourself and because he is a trained opera singer, he's he's very precious about stuff like that. (As Oh, while I remember I tapped you on the thing that said, I was interested in learning. Opera but actually I'm not but I didn't know how to "untap" it,)
So I went on your channel, did 40 minutes of vocal exercises and this really strange thing happened..... I could reach the notes much easier 🤦🏼🤣 I'm just so now I get it.... But I tend to do about 5 or 10 minutes and then I use a singing app called Smule. Then I will join people off camera and just sing the songs quietly and then sort of use actual songs to try and move my voice up it's wrong. I know it's wrong
But on the day that I with this big wall map and did everything correctly, I joined an Italian guy on "the prayer" now I was no Celine Dion but I held my own and I sent this to a couple of friends of mine who were really surprised!!
N didn't realize I could sing that high n how my voices come on ..
I always say that you should sing as if you're in the shower and no one's listening. Sing from the heart and have fun when the rest will follow
now sense would say.... doing a 40-minute watm up -like you said on Monday -is what you've got to do but life gets in the way
I've got no idea how long this message is and I'm too embarrassed to go back and look cuz I'm on a roll not a cheese roll. Just a roll😅
I really apologize and I'm sorry that I've just jumped across a multitude of subjects ( ahh the joy of ADHD ) but what I wanted to say was this.... And please believe me I'm not just giving lip service and trying to b all groverly because I don't give it service to anyone.( Well not under $250 in this day and age 😈🤣) You're the ONLY teacher " out there" that I can relate to
I watch you and it's like I'm watching myself in the respect of your body language and the fact that you look brimming with enthusiasm and energy and jump from the main story and spin-off on tangents and then stop and think what was I saying about that bit...hmmm anyway Ill remember it in a minute
But the way you describe stuff makes sense. That doesn't mean I can do it but it makes sense. But it gives me the belief that I CAN do it.
And that is a gift. You don't learn it. That's within you. Your enthusiasm. You talk from experience and only do you talk the talk U walk the walk ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ many of your peers seem to use this just as platform for how much they've done, and just how wonderful they've been ya de ya de ya .. (The only other tutor who gives that enthusiasm is Cheryl Porter)
you're just down to earth. You're talking from the ❤ n the joy of what you do (you're not molding tutorials for the Love of getting followers and likes first but for your love of what you do ,n the joy of helping others feel the same way about singing way ) you're relating to your audience In a way that resonates and that shows a unique star quality that can't be bought or trained ...it's a gift 💯
So I have a lot of events coming up. I must get this routine into my head so then it comes out in my voice
I've got the care home circuit to get homes a week, there's 11 Care homes get right the way around them then start giving them a different set
. I've just written a murder mystery comedy who just participation to guess who the murder is 3 acts 4 songs
