Form is emptiness, Emptiness is form. Masters know that to truly be at one with the music they must accept total darkness, total silence, from that place music can be found. All other ways are distortions. Hamelin is a crystal clear channel if i've ever witnessed one.

True. I have the same problem. How can a professional producer make such a lapsus? They have misadjusted the volume for the mic ampli, of course. But I also wonder why this video was uploaded here without correction? It's easy to raise the sound volume either in Final Cut Pro, or in Soundtrack Pro, if you dissect the audio track and then put the amplified one back. But of course, not everybody has such kind of software available. And if you do it, there will be a huge background hiss, of course.

Great technician, if by that one means the ability to whizz around the keyboard. That's about it. His musical, interpretive, instincts have never not been completely distorted and undeveloped. His readings are eccentric beyond words. He imposes his sense of "freedom" that is actually self-indulgent and wrong-headed on the composer's works. Problem is that Harvey Wideen tried to get Hamelin to honor the composer's thinking, which, of course, Hamelin dismissed. He has never had the sensitivity, the empathy, or the talent to "get' anyone else's music other than his own----which is just a slew of gestures, vehicles for his own hubris. Or is it autism? Narcissism? The guy needs therapy.

What is the point of every performer sticking to the "composer's thinking"? You don't think it's valuable for performers to bring their own unique interpretations? You would rather they be robots essentially? Hamelin is weird dude, there's no doubt about that, however.
