Amy Morton from 'Chicago P.D.'

If you watch "Chicago P.D.", you know Desk Sgt. Trudy Platt, played by actress and director Amy Morton. Maybe you didn’t know of Amy’s truly comprehensive background in theater. She’s been a member of the ensemble of Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Company since 1997, where she’s appeared in more than 30 productions. Amy received Tony nominations for her roles in "Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and "August: Osage County." She directed a dozen productions at Steppenwolf and has completed a number of other film and television projects.
Amy’s character has become a fan favorite because her personality shines with a sharp and dry wit. Her supporters had nail-biting moments early in the season when she was attacked and beaten during the episode that aired Oct. 5. As executive producer Matt Olmstead told "TVLine," it was “a real tour de force” for Amy. The publication also marked her performances with the confirmation that Amy is “one of the Chicago-verse’s most arresting performers.”
In last week’s Feb. 8 episode, as recapped by NBC and called “I Remember Her Now,” Amy shone brightly in the story about a teenager’s body being found in an abandoned building after she runs away from a treatment center for troubled girls. Voight (Jason Beghe) sends Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) undercover as a guard to work from the inside at the center, where he believes the girls are trading sexual favors for something in return. Meanwhile, Platt feels guilty because the victim was brought into the District last year, and she doesn’t remember her.
