We should have got Jose straight after Sir Alex left. I sat in the ground through some awful stuff under Jose, although some games at home we were on another planet, but opposition goalkeepers had worldies or we hit the woodwork 50 times. Then we had the Champions League game at home (I was there and can't even remember who it was... Valencia?) and it was beyond dire, and then he got sacked not long after. The problem with Mourinho and Man United was that the fans wanted an attacking combative team like Alex Fergunson had. Finishing 2nd and winning the Europa League was not enough, as the team was unrecognisable still beign combative but playing defensively, holding 1-0 results, etc. Now, the fans bar and expectations has lowered so much that they will take any manager that at least saves Man United from weekly embarassements and keeps them in the top 5.

If the club had been stamped as an average level team you wouldn't see extensive media coverage on it, high potential players still wanting to come to the club, high profile managers still getting linked to the club, and the club still having an ever increasing global fan support.
