@jakepinta17 it is not that bad if you don't spam parry if your good a time your perfect parry right you can parry multiple targets at once it just takes skill
@jakepinta17 lol id say it's about even. I've played one game where someone got wrecked during melee since the update. I can see yall have never played elden ring or a souls game
Its more noticable against the tiny tyranid swarms, before you could just mash parry and it timed it for you, now you have to time it right when the nid is about to hit. Personally i really like it, now i have to pay attention to animations instead of just pressing parry and auto-parrying everything. I struggled to defend against swarms a lot more, but i guess thats the drawback of having a high parry window that lets me react and parry on the last frame of the attack.
Because it was meant to be like this on patch 3.0 but for some reason was accidentally reverted for a few patches. Its totally sabers fault for letting a bugged item like this for so long, but players need to stop thinking fencing was balanced in any way shape or form.
Parry window in fencing weapons, on low ping, it's fine. But when you in the situation of high ping, this fencing patch of 5.0 using against swarms of tyranids, makes me very annoying. I perfectly parried, but my weapon just swinging nowhere. In my opinion, this must be roll back. + Against 1 majoris of course, I experienced same issue. Perfectly parried with right timing. But pushed back and lost 2 armors. I felt 'WTF is this situation?' I think they(Saber) have not considered the ping. They must re-patch or roll back the fencing weapon. (From the moment I write this, my play time on steam is 469.7 hours)
@B174III i specifically played with my friend so i can play on 250+ ms ping, and i can tell you fencing still works as intended. The check is completely client side so if you are missing your parries using the easiest weapon to do so in the game then its really just a skill issue. Stop parrying 2 business days before an attack lands like you have a balanced weapon Oh but there is a bug right now where attacks just fo through players so thats entirely possible.
Maybe the doge window could be increased with blocking weapons to help with the gun strike situations. The gun strikes are very valuable at those higher difficulties to keep you alive.
the dmgboost is good on lethal where you can groundpound a majoris to execute with the 75% perk, but then you just get ranged to death all the time, constantly, whatever you do, because you cant get armor back fast enough and you cant reach those suckers far away because the horde close to you will chip you to death , and on more than 2 majoris youll also just get deleted, you cant kite them away and if you fight them they lock you to death, the system was build around the armor regen on lethal, you could feel and see it pre patch, now its just fcked (until they revert the parrybug and noone uses block anymore, at least no meleeclasses, or purposebuild meleesnipers)
I think given enough time, most players will adjust to the fencing changes. It’s just getting used to new timing. I still think blocking needs work. It doesn’t have enough utility like perfect parries/gunstrikes. Someone else mentioned it, but I think if they added some sort of stagger to a perfect block, it could help. I feel like as an assault/bulwark, you get stuck blocking in the middle of a swarm and the adrenaline stacks run out before you can use them. Maybe increase the window you have to use the stacks. But they’re also going to rework some weapon and class perks in the next couple of patches, so maybe that will add some addition utility to perfect blocks.
From the info I got from my friend and watching it first hand, in my opinion, I think it's only good with Thunderhammer Assault, the stacks translate over to the ground pound ability as well and the thunderhammer almost deletes any enemy you come across with 3 stacks.
@@Yeertski I had 30k in the very first game with it. This thing slaps. Though every blocking weapon type is good now. So good that I switched to it on every single class.
Blocking seems good. It would be S-tier on the assault w/ hammer if I wasnt such a casual shitter who fucks it up 60% of the time. I tried the blocking chainsword on the vanguard, and wasnt terribly impressed, but I forgot that the tac-marine had the auspex on parry/dodge perk so Ill try that sometime. I think Im going to stay out of operations for a while though. With the buggy triple and quad spawns on private and the players who perform significantly worse than bots in public, it simply isnt worth the frustration, time, and effort right now.
Admittedly block weapons are in a better state than they were. But, c'mon, seriously, fencing is STILL the best option even while it's currently bugged
I feel like balanced weapons are in the best spot right now, benefitting from the patch buff and having a decent parry window and good swing speed makes them feel really nice
I also liked the blocking chainsword and am looking forward to trying out the thunderhammer soon. I recommend looking through your perk tree though and consider how your play style might change because some of them only reference a parry, and unless you dodge a bunch you likely won't be doing as many gun strikes.
I feel like there's not enough chances to get the 3rd perfect block off for the damage buff and armour gain, especially against the thousand suns. Sure it's affective against majors, but up against minoris's it feels useless compared to balanced or fencing. You have to sit there and wait until 3 of them attack you like a sitting duck. It's pretty bad if your in a situation desperate for armour and there's no executions around. I think a easy solution would be to extend the damage buff time, or when you perfect block again it'll restart the timer and give you another buff stack.
Agreed; blocking on power sword is great! Power sword w/bulwark not as much sticking with fencing on that. Thunder hammer blocking better damage but can get into trouble lethal a bit too easy if you are not careful so not sure on that one yet.

ı won a few lethal games with Blocking Chainsword. Damage and speeed is really good. It didnt feel like I'm trying to bring down a tree with butter knife anymore. I wish it would stagger enemies on perfect block though. If I can adapt to do more dodges I think it would be great. But after playing fencing for 3 months my muscle memory keeps betraying me and I keep trying to block everything. Which becomes a problem when enemies chain their attacks into a red one. It actually feels better against chaos since you dont get many gunstrikes against them.
Relic tier balanced chainsword has fuckin ONE speed…thing is slow as shit and basically unusable. It’s nice that the block version is now viable. But..I think parry is still a better option. Being able to parry trash mods and get armor back is too good, and parry’s interrupt enemy combos plus the gunstrike stuns them. And, some weapon perks give you more damage after a gunstrike. Gunstrike is built into the gameplay loop so deeply that I don’t think block can ever be EXACTLY as good as parry.
To me fencing feels broken it's okay when you're dealing with bigger enemies but when you get to the smaller enemies you just get swarmed and it's annoying then on top of that you could have bigger enemies and smaller enemies on you and you just get screwed And don't get me wrong I like what they're trying to do the fencing is not as op as it was which is good but I feel like it's too weak now
Fencing was fine as it was i think, was OK with knock back effect being reduced but with my fencing hammer now I'm just getting bodied against 2 or 3 warriors where as before they were no issue. I'm not the best but was walking through inferno and ballistic engine with the fencing hammer on substantial with my assault now I'm barely making it through with the bots. They should have upgraded the bots and left fencing alone
Fencing only feels weak now if you were spamming your parries instead of timing them. AFAIK the perfect parry window for fencing no longer starts on the first frame of the animation, meaning that if you hit it a second time in less than about .17sec you will restart the animation w/o every getting to the perfect parry window, which I believe is intentional. Having "spam me to win" buttons is terrible game design and I dont think they ever intended for it to work the way it did. If you have terrible internet or connect thru McDs parking lot wi-fi they moved dodge logic to client side so you still have a mostly spammable zero-skill solution for poor positioning. The difference is you arent staggering everything within 10 m of you for a second every second cause of parryspam.
I literally haven't noticed a difference. Just time your parries big dog. I think it's a very healthy spot for Fencing weapons to be in. You can still parry almost everything if you have good timing, and it simultaneously makes block and balance weapons more viable. But Fencing weapons are still objectively the best weapon type for almost every weapon. I don't understand how you think they're too weak now. I'm not trying to be rude when I say this but it genuinely sounds like a skill issue. The weapons aren't bad. Jus get better with them.
They need to buff aoe on Power Fist again and change the stats for blocking but just for Operations. I was trying to test it after patch and realised the stats for blocking on Power fist makes no sense compared to other weapons.
Before the update, fencing weapons were king. You had no reason to use any other type beyond niche builds and scenarios. Now each melee type is starting to get their roles established. Fencing for the most part will still be the meta option once the parrying windows get fixed, but blocking and balanced weapons have a use case now. Which is good! Encouraging build variety is always healthy for a PvE game like this one.
I hope the fix comes soon. I want to try the new changes, but I'm a bit hesitant and waiting for someone to make a guide because I'm no good at telling the difference.
I'm enjoying blocking so far, I just need them to fix their key bind issue. I rebound block and my brain is wired for that key now sadly, and it sucks when the game randomly decides to forgets that key is bound to it.
New update is great don’t get anything confused. Block needed changes, they were completely useless compared to fencing weapons. They nerfed the Fencing weapons parry capabilities, nothing to do with damage has been nerfed so idk why people are complaining about that
who forcing you do not use melee balance weapon to combine blocks and parry with after shoot - they even make special perks for it . blockin weapon is really masohistaic gameplay ouy of Space Marines Supremacy
I looked at the power fist and the only thing it would be better at is cleaving potential. The power fist is in short really bad for block Edit: the only melee weapon that can be better with block IMO is the chain sword.
Powerfist is bad because its gimmick is too slow in the current game. Hows anyone supposed to stay in a horde for almost 4 seconds? Yeah tremendous damage and all that but its impractical.
@Yeertski fair enough man. I'm not sure if I've seen one of your videos before, but me and any my buddies were playing around with the new balance/blocking weapons last night, was interested to see what others thought so that's why I clicked on your video. I tried the balance one a little bit, didn't mind it, still had the beefy damage but the speed was just abysmal, but still being able to proc gun strikes and get armor back off minoris is hard to look past. Have you played with the balance chainsword at all and if so what did you think of it ?
They should've left fencing alone and just fixed block, now I gotta switch my weapons.
