Flagships, definitely, I would buy a 3 series (what I currently drive) I wouldn't buy their flagship 7 series. Now Lexus, I wouldn't buy their tiny little IS models but an LS I'll take.
"NOTHING about this car reminds me of any vehicle in its class." I would agree insofar as it is the most hideous looking car to ever infiltrate this class.
I own a Mercedes, and to me, the S-class was always the top of the line when it came to interior---perfection! Not a single car could touch the complete package offered by the current S-class...until I sat in the new LS! The interior quality and fit-and-finish leagues above what current standards are in my opinion. I'm used to Mercedes' Comand system, so the setup in the LS seemed odd and not easy quick and easy to use, but I think you could get used to it until you get proficient the way I got used to my car. What's most impressive was how I fell in love with an LS500 that was in the showroom floor. I was looking at the details inside and out, and hadn't really bothered to look at the price because I was expecting it to be ~$100k. I was shocked to find out the price for it was only $88K!! Blew my mind!! I love Mercedes, but this LS will be my next car!!

Our new LS 500 is an undisputed pinnacle of our entire team of engineers, designers and takumis (our master artisans and craftsmen). There will be more and more surprises and shocks coming within auto industry, reviewers, critics as well as general public very soon. Our engineers' and designers' ideas and imagination as to design concepts were finally unleashed by their being given freedom and independence they had so desperately needed for so long. LEXUS did not want to be tied to Toyota anymore, and the outcome began to finally show itself. Akio Toyoda's passionate and unwavering support for LEXUS success as a luxury brand certainly does not hurt. LF-LC design concept started it, LC 500 picked up where LF-LC concept left off, all ending with stunningly looking LC 500. However, LS 500 is in the category of its own. Our team managed to put together a masterpiece of a vehicle, which combines the handling (performance, dynamics, horsepower) with the famous serene, whisper quiet ride and unmatched comfort and luxury and, let's not forget, the famous reliability and dependability. This is the most difficult task for any manufacturer to accomplish. Germans and others have never been able to execute this extremely difficult task. Yet, our team of the very best of the best in each category of vehicle assembly, which is necessary for producing such a masterpiece of a vehicle, was able to execute the goal of making LS 500 once again the leader of the luxury segment after nearly 20 years with mind-boggling precision. Only a team of fully dedicated and proud geniuses could have pulled off such a feat. LEXUS will become the best selling luxury brand in my country of the United States in very near future. It is not a matter of "if" but "when." Watch for more stunning design concepts to come out in the coming years, which then will be turned into production ready designs. There is no stopping LEXUS now, LEXUS will keep plowing through their competition. It has just happened so with LS 500, which simply can be matched by no auto manufacturer in the world. Even the new Mercedes Benz S-class pales in comparison.
Incredible! One thing to note is that this is really the only sporty full size luxury sedan available for under six figures. Sure, the Germans will gladly sell you an S63/65, S8, or M760Li, but this is serious bang for the buck. And I stand by my golden rule - lease a German, buy a Japanese (read: reliability, something most reviewers don't take into consideration).
@@kristians2704 if better means your drive belt coming off as you are driving your vehicle and leaving you stranded, then yeah..True Story. Happened to my dad's bmw 535i
I applaud Lexus for trying so hard with all controversial exterior and interior design and material used. No other manufacturer would give you a choice of pattern and texture at this price point. The mode selector beside the gauge cluster really spoils the clean lines of the dash though. You can't help but stare at them everytime you drive this car. The best part about this car is really the back seat though. A big let down is no folding rear seats or even a ski pass through. Amazing car nonetheless. I would love to be driven in one!
Toyota4Life Should be happening for the next generation GS F without question (as long as they don't discontinue). I imagine lexus should be bringing back an F variant for the IS line.
To say the new LS looks fantastic is an understatement. What a fabulous-looking flagship sedan. Imagine if the next gen GS would look similar to the LS, like a baby LS. That would be a hit. 😎
9:00 Honestly, it's about time that car manufacturers started to work with real tech companies to design and develop the infotainment systems. Other than some of the top systems from MB and maybe Audi, car companies really don't do them right. Many of the maps and graphics look like 2004 instead of 2018.
This is a dream vehicle hands down. For a 30's aged man...this with a non-digger wife with a child seat in the rear...is enough for a dreamer to strive for. I'm sure a Panamera or an Audi S7 vehicle...or even some high class Mercedes Lux class would fill that void....it's hard not to appreciate the Lexus LS class and live in comfort that this vehicle will perform and create that lux comfort bubble that this vehicle will provide for them. With that said.....I'm lower level class and this vehicle is a dream. I don't care if this review down plays the look of the LS400....it was still the quintessential baby carrier with spunk to have mom and dad in the front piloting. Love the Lexus class LS.
Just because a Toyota Camry debuted first to the public it doesn't mean the Lexus LS has taken styling techniques from a Camry. These cars have been finalized for years, but recently made a public appearance.

This LS will easily smoke every single full size sedan with any type of V6 engine. It's actually even faster than the twin turbo v8 S550 and is just a tick slower than the turbo v8 7 Series. This LS vs turbo V8 competitors is a much closer and better comparison than comparing this to the V6's from those cars.
Isn’t it just a Toyota 3.5L with some turbos added? I’m pretty sure all they had to do was reinforce the components to handle the added boost. I mean the 3.5L v6 has been around a long time 🤷🏾♂️.
Consumer reports did not give this car s good review for a couple of reasons: 1. The turbo lag when you press on the acceleration. The power is not as available as the previous V8. 2. The rear headroom is less from the previous generation due to the slopping roof line. I prefer the looks of the previous LS460, but that’s just my personal opinion.
