From my knowledge basically Seungmin had told Han that he wanted to get a dog but he couldn’t because he would be to scared to let it go once it passes away which is why Han wrote Hold On for Seungmin to sing but Han wrote the song towards his dog

My family had to say goodbye to our dog of 14 years just before the Skz record came out and I wasn’t prepared for the lyrics at all The line that most hinted to me the song was about a lost pet was the bit about the rainbow trail. The lyrics could have been describing an actual trail but I like to imagine it was referencing the metaphorical rainbow bridge (The rainbow bridge is a recurring theme in poetry about a special place pets go after they pass. They wait there and play and run around with other pets until their owners reunite with them and they can begin their afterlife together) This song is a bittesweet sort of comfort to me. I’m okay with taking the extra effort to search on UA-cam for now because I don’t think I can handle relistening to it often. They’re really starting to buildup a new record/player catalogue though and I just know I’m going to be so impatient waiting for them on Spotify
