I agree that while i enjoy his channel, he has a tendency to not do unbiased reviews. Obviously he’s going to have his own personal taste, but his reviews should be given from the professional perspective and from a person who’s considering purchasing these cars. Like he literally started the video saying “I don’t like subcompact cars” well fine, but people who do, watch reviews because they wanna make informed purchases. That’s something he needa to work on.
Agreed, his videos are always very negative regardless of the car. I avoid watching but will sometimes accidentally view these and they are definitely not objective.
Great review - unbiased! I test drove the highly rated Honda HR-V and I was not impress - weak 4 cylinder engine (non turbo) and the interior is not that quiet. No automatic headlights or Apple CarPlay unless you move into the $27K trim level. Moreover, the Honda ride is quite choppy and subcompact ride feel. The Honda roofline is lower so it feels more like a wagon. I'm buying a subcompact SUV, because I want a SUV - not a wagon. I brought a 2019 Buick Encore Preferred. This lower trim level comes with automatic headlamps and Apple Carplay. Moreover, it comes with an upgraded stereo system with 6 speakers. The stereo system in the Buick Encore sounds really good - and I didn't have to go to the top trim. The high Buick Encore roofline provides plenty of driver and passenger room to stretch. The cargo area is also larger because of the higher roofline. The driving dynamic and ride is so much better than the Toyota HR-V. The Buick Encore is quite close to the ride quality of my BMW SUV but at less than 1/2 the price. Buick gives you many optional accessories at the lower trim level that you have go into the highest Honda HR-V trim to get. I really like my 2019 Buick Encore - it so much better than the other subcompact SUV offerings.
Where does his comment specify the two are necessarily even remotely synonymous? Nowhere. He said it looks cute as well as it looks like a girls car. Go frown over absolutely nothing in your "safe space" you troll.
phobos2k2 Where in MY comment does it specify that I am a troll? You, who doesn't even know me or even know what I look like, has the audacity to call me a troll.
This car is actually popular with small families in Toronto. It's small size makes it good to park in tight city, good fuel economy even with AWD optioned, comes well loaded and significantly cheaper than Audi Q3, Mercedes GLA250, BMW X1 etc. Also this Buick is also great...for old people. It's pretty high so its easy to get in & out, lots of headroom and lots of safety features built in so fender-bender incidents can be reduced. Buick still can't get rid of its roots XD
Slow is relative though Sofyan. If you usually drive something fast, anything with less power will feel slower. But for what it is it is more than quick enough. If someone is used to driving a naturally aspirated 1.3, a 1.4 turbo will feel like a rocket. I think you should think of this because saying it is slow may give the wrong impression.
It's not a bad car, it's sold here in the UK as the Vauxhall (Opel) Mokka...and whilst it sells well (cheap to lease) it's outclassed my most of the competition in the class. granted we have other makes here that you don't but overall it's pretty similar.
Actually the Suzuki SX4 started the mini CUV trend in the states. I bought one because it was the only one of its kind and in budget. Now there are so many options to choose from.
Within the last 4 years they had updated the Lacrosse before launching the new one. They updated the interior of the Regal also with the exterior, They launched the Cascada also within that time. Not to mention 4 years ago they had one of the newest line ups.
Thanks for post. Great commentary. Your is currently one of the few actual test drives of the 2017 Encore right now, so it's really appreciated. One thing worth noting is that you say that the new direct-injected 1.4L engine is "only available on the Sport Touring," but in fact that was true in 2016 but that engine is now an available option on all trim levels for the 2017 Encore. That being said, I wonder if you were actually driving the new engine. I ask that because it looks like your tachometer has the Auto Stop marking on it between "1" and "Off". Auto start-stop is a feature the base engine does not have, so if it had that, then it was in fact the direct-injected engine. You wouldn't happen to remember or have photos/higher-res video to verify whether I'm seeing things or not, would you? :) Thanks again for the review.
I drive a 2014 Encore and I have found that using middle grade fuel rather than regular really peps up the acceleration. I saw a complete difference. I was ready to take the car back and trade it until I fired the better fuel.
Question would it be pointless to get a Tesla model 3 for a daily driver if you don't have a garage to charge it overnight? The Tesla super stations are scarce in NY and they fully charge in 30minutes. Random city garages you have to pay hundreds to reserve your spot for them to charge it in half a day.
2017 zl1 camaro/2016 camaro fan as I told you before, you're not important (irrelevant).. as for the: EVERYWHERE I GO YOU FOLLOW.... false! I reply just like you do, Sonic Boy.... This is a network where people post comments.... Gay ??? you sound like a 12 y/o.... grow up ... end of conversation....
what really bothers me also about this jerk's videos, is the fact that people who may actually be interested in purchasing those vehicles may turn away from buying them simply because they're taking this guy on his word. People, this guy is not the end-all-be-all of car reviewers and just because he doesn't happen to like the car doesn't mean it's not worth buying. in fact, just looking at this guy tells you almost immediately everything you need to know about him. He is an uptight privileged and entitled, self centered millennial who thinks that his word is solid gold and you must obey his every critique of every vehicle that he reviews. That is not true because this guy is just a jerk and you can see it right in his face and you can hear it in his voice. this is the guy who cut you off without a second of warning in heavy traffic.
Both 1.4t engines are available in the 2017 Encore. The newer version has more horsepower and torque. It also comes with start/stop, where it shuts itself off at stoplights and restarts when you let off the brake, leading to a little better fuel economy than the older version.
Thanks ! Still a little underpowered for encore compared to some other small suvs. But the bump in torque should help some. I bet it's a good mill in the cruze
Uh that engine is normal in the newer version as well the 155hp has to be specially ordered and can be on any trim except the base model. It's called the SIDI stop start engine.
Depends what trim. You can find them ranging on closeout from $22-$27.5K. I saw a $36,015 highest trim loaded one going for $27,500. That'll come with Nav, sunroof, leather, power seats, heated seats, and MORE.
When I think of Buick, I think of the late 30's all the way to the 90's majestic styling. When I see this, I immediately think Daewoo Matiz, or clown car.... :I

I drive a 2014 Encore and it is much much better than the trax! The road noise is minimal to none, the ride quality is on par with much higher end vehicles.
If you have driven both you would know the difference. The encore is much much more luxurious. It is basically a small Cadillac for its quality and road noise. It is super smooth on the road too.
Jhollis24 It's the same car. Exact same engine. Just different design and better insulation. And that premium, this cat does not have leather. It's made of vinyl. Yet they keep calling it leather. This car is not worth what they charge off the lot, in one year they have been known to drop $10k in price. It would be a good used car though.
I bought mine used. I got a hell of deal it only had 8k miles. I have driven the trax and it def didnt have as much power. idk why it felt so different but it did.
I Like the front end look of it, but the Egg shape of the back end is just Ugly.... Just got a 2017 Buick Encore today and I am very impressed
Is it still running 😅
❤
I'm not a fan of GM cars, but this Buick Encore's exterior was very well executed.
I never thought I would love a Buick.. But I'm in love with this car wtf.
❤

Wow that car looks goooooood
Bottled Windex looks cute, looks like a girls car
Caleb Hogue ... what does being cute have anything to do with a girl?... 😑

It's not Lexus hideous... but it's too tall and not proportional.

I rented one of these and took my friend to New Orleans for her birthday. It was really nice.
❤
Had a Juke. Now I drive an Encore. I guess you could say I'm a classic crossover fan. I like the odd shapes of them.
The higher horsepower 1.4t was standard in the 2016 Sport Touring exclusively. For 2017, it is optional in the Sport Touring and other trim levels.
Sofyan in a bad mood today lol
I was just frustrated from getting lost ;)
Redline Reviews Nevermind GPS, they didn't even give you a map.

Regardless of what they do... it's still a fucking Buick
Actually the Suzuki SX4 started the mini CUV trend in the states. I bought one because it was the only one of its kind and in budget. Now there are so many options to choose from.
Now the grill looks a lot more classy

Sofyan...I think that dash looks a lot better. GM needs to update the powertrain options for sure.
i love your reviews, keep going
fan from Montreal , Canada
Is it expensive to repair these cars?? I'm looking to buy one but haven't heard too much about them. Any advice helps? Thanks
Yeah, looking forward to the new turbo engine review. Hopefully it makes the car peppier.
did you notice the tire pressure sensor light on??
looks pretty good actually..
WTF??? Is that a Map in 2016??? Where did you find that?
Why didn't you use the Onstar for your driving directions instead of the map?
Onstar isn't that great and I've had it. It does have a built in NAV system if he had that Essence trim.
Hi, Nice Video. I have a 2019 Encore AWD. Love the Styling. Very Quiet Ride. Perfect for Around the Town Driving. Great on Gas.
We have one too and love it! Fun little vehicle. Nobody's drag racing in it though. I think he likes beefier vehicles.
you should review the volkswagen passat v6 sel premium
Still one of Buick's best seller tops in segment.
would the extra HP in the sport touring really make that much difference in power?
Nope. Just a bragging right.
figured 15hp wouldn't do all that much
Yeah, but you can't forget the additional 29 lb ft of torque
masterwhopper414 You don't get any torque output it's just the extra bump in the HP.
Nope - older 1.4T is rated 138 hp, 148 tq, while the newer 2017 1.4T is rated 155 hp, 177 tq
infotainment looks way better than before.
Sad to see the old grill gone. I think the older Buick grill style had a more unique look.
I loved the comment about your passengers being close so you better like them. If you aren't my dog, I don't want you in my car... lol
I drive a 2014 Encore and I have found that using middle grade fuel rather than regular really peps up the acceleration. I saw a complete difference. I was ready to take the car back and trade it until I fired the better fuel.
100%!!! Sometimes I put premium in too and I think it's even quicker. I also notice it's quieter with mid-grade and premium...
CBRboy1717 I use the middle gasoline every once in awhile it adds a nice pep
Has it been reliable? Any problems?
Hey, that's my hometown, Kingston! Wish I had seen you on the road, this looks like an awesome car!
Thanks for the info
I so close to getting one today but I didn’t get it

can you do a 2017 sonic hatchback premier? do you think you can get your hands on one?
Sonic ??? REALLY ???? LOL

Sofyan, would you be planning to do a review of something like a 570s or something like a Mercedes-Maybach or a Rolls Royce just because?
I have the 2019 Buick Encore it’s awesome suv n mine has the turbo engine
It looks like a car for people who don't really like cars, like the Aveo/spark
Seriously this guy complains a lot 🙄
A lot of people from DC like to complain. And yes that includes me. *ahem*
well G.M. gives him a lot
That must have happened in another video.
Typical millennial..
what really bothers me also about this jerk's videos, is the fact that people who may actually be interested in purchasing those vehicles may turn away from buying them simply because they're taking this guy on his word. I'm confused, what exactly are the encore's competitors? Isn't this a luxury sub-compact suv?
More Premium than luxurious
Premium
What is the difference in the base 1.4 and the sport 1.4?
Both 1.4t engines are available in the 2017 Encore. The newer version has more horsepower and torque. It also comes with start/stop, where it shuts itself off at stoplights and restarts when you let off the brake, leading to a little better fuel economy than the older version.
ocnblu I guess I should have been a little more specific. What are the torque/hp differences between the two?
138 hp/148 tq in normal version, 153 hp/177 tq in newer version.
How does it compare to the Acura RDX 2016-2017 Advance Package?
Not even in the same segment. The RDX is a size up. It would compete with the Envision.
It is an OPEL from Germany.
This vehicle is designed for economy first! Lot of them have 0-60 between 10 to 13 seconds!
The one in the 150 ish hp with awd does 7.8
How much is this car in 2019?
Depends what trim. You can find them ranging on closeout from $22-$27.5K. I saw a $36,015 highest trim loaded one going for $27,500. That'll come with Nav, sunroof, leather, power seats, heated seats, and MORE.
$12,000
When I think of Buick, I think of the late 30's all the way to the 90's majestic styling.
When I see this, I immediately think Daewoo Matiz, or clown car.... :I
A lot of talking. And no vehicle walk around. Boring.
I noticed on the price sticker that the Encore is built in Korea with over 90% Korean parts.
Can anybody explain this? Is Kia building this car?
It was designed and developed by "GM Korea", bro. GM purchased the Korean carmaker, Daewoo, a few years back.
Kia has NOTHING to do with GM, as it is owned by Hyundai.
Styling reminds me of the XC90
Doesn't the Soul predate the Juke?
Yes. Kia Soul has been around longer than Nissan Juke.
why would gm not put the new 1.5L turbo in this?
It's on the "Sport" trim level......
nikemac84 Oh seriously? I thought it was a tuned up version of the 1.4? Researching now
nikemac84 no its still listing the 1.4 in sports and premium trims
The front looks like the new acura mdx
Encore !
the front looks like the 2017 MDX
I noticed that too
I really wish gm would "squish" the roof down and make it more into a proper hatchback, not a CSUV.
Suped up Chevy Trax.
Yep. Drove one today. The leather seats and wheel are nice, but everything else feels the same.
I drive a 2014 Encore and it is much much better than the trax! The road noise is minimal to none, the ride quality is on par with much higher end vehicles.

Mapquest?!
Why didn't you get out of the freaking car and show it? Omg so disappointed.
My 2016 buick encore engine went out at 60,000
this is litterally just the opel/vauxhall makka
Yeah
The juke is nasty! Btw shortest review ever
Are we going to see the car or see this guy complain?
I wonder what is going to happen with our small GM vehicles now that GM will soon no longer own Opel or Vauxhall.
I love watching his reviews but this one is not the best.. he seems so uninterested
Uhm... Maps? Atlas? I don't care if its a planned route, WHO USES MAPS in 2019?
It's just an Opel Mokka X so don't expect too much ;)
Point the camera at the car more.
Hope he is in a bad mood just because he has to testdrive a buick
Reading a map while driving...not a good practice... Oh no...:-(
Looks like an HRV
Not even close.
buick doesn’t compete with chevy and nissan buick is mainly a luxury brand meanwhile they are not
Front kind of looks Teslaish...
Just get an Impreza. Done.
I Like the front end look of it, but the Egg shape of the back end is just Ugly.... A little Skinny College Chick that drives 50mph in the Fast Lane on the freeway is who I envision driving this particular car. Personally I'd prefer the Looks of the Jeep Renegade over this ANY DAY. Not Fast, Faster than this probably. But it's a fun little truck to drive, and It's not Ugly. I drove one as a rental some weeks ago, and I got stares like "Ayyee Cool looking truck." You don't get that with a Buick....
I like the Renegade too until we looked at consumer reports. That FIAT is a basket case. Electrical problems, people getting locked out of their own car, windows that go down but won't go back up, cam problems that lead to engine failure, transmission failures. Went with the Buick instead. People comment all the time about mine, but I didn't buy it for an ego stroke.
Omarr Longway I get that and I drive a buick roadmaster
i’d take this over the renegade any day
it's ok BUT if this is buick's best seller
"bread n butter" i think it could be better...panorama sun roof duel captins rear chairs rear HVAC bigger side Windows id want a split tailgate just because
Get a Mini Cooper Clubman.
yeah those are cool but THIS car i think would cool with these features
@@randomuser4014 we have one, would be cool if it had a real center console. I miss having one that acts as an armrest. Passenger doesn't have arm rest and that sucks too.
bla bla bla bla..I want to see the dashboard ect..not your speech while driving
I left the video because the guy its a chit-chat one. FFirst two minutes he speaks, but not given any info at all, a waste of time here !! 🧟♂🧟♂🧟♂
A Chevy with caked on makeup is still a Chevy
But it's a Buick, not a Chevy.
Looks like a Tonka Toy …..
WHINE, WHINE, WHINE ..........
He thinks he is a journalist
Opel Mokka
Awesome channel but this is one of your worst reviews
Opel mokka
Vauxhall Mokka...
Its made in china wtf
Dumb fuck. Encore is made in korea
Looks like an egg lol
You look like an egg
First
all new cars try to copy tesla from the outside
the interior already looks dated
i prefer the Jeep Renegade...
We did too until we looked at consumer reports. That Renegade(FIAT) is a basket case. Electrical problems, people getting locked out of their own car, windows that go down but won't go back up, cam problems that lead to engine failure. Stay far away from that car....
i think it looks too cutesy
BEST SELLING ??? LOL... junk at its best...
I think the Mazda cx3 looks a lot better and much fun to drive....do you want to know whats wrong the Buick ? Just look at it .....
I don't buy anything GM made. 😒
"That's not a buick".You're right grandma its a Daewoo.
