Story 101 *Finally Planting the Lilac Tree*

- Hi Friends! This might be my last regular garden tour of the season. I've had so much fun joining the other gardeners in this collaboration and learned so much from them. Thank you @GrandmaSandy for hosting this each week.
I will give an occasional update around the property but in place of the garden tour I will show wildlife, sunsets, sunrises and perhaps join in on some crafting collabs. I hope you enjoy this. I will continue with my Fairy Garden Fairy Tales and any other creative ideas I think of.

Can't wait to see your lilac tree next spring! I love the smell of fresh lilacs. I still need to dig up the rose bush and replant it in the back yard by the shed, it is just to evasive for the front yard.
Hi Lynn. Yes I hope the tree survives over the winter. My neighbor has had one for years so for fingers crossed.
We use Miracle Grow too for some of our plants in the garden. Even though those deer a beautiful I hope that they leave your garden alone.
I’m getting a netting for the trees/plants to keep them from nibbling. 😊
Yay for the lilac tree being planted. The garden areas are all looking good and making a comeback. The memorial tree in remembrance of your dad is beautiful Barby Such a gorgeous sunset, wow.
Hi Krista. We. might be having our first frost this weekend. A friend of mine who lives at a little higher elevation told me she put plastic around her tomatoes and it had a greenhouse effect that ripened them. So that's what I did yesterday. It will be interesting to see if they do ripen. Thanks for watching. 💖

Loved seeing all the beautiful scenery. How awesome that you have a tractor and it looks like you have a lot of land. Your Lilac Tree is so pretty. It looks like a wonderful place for the tree. Hopefully, the deer with stay away from it. I read that they don't like fragrant plants - and I've been pretty lucky planing "smelly" flowers and the deer staying away from them. I love seeing all your flower patches. Beautiful pine tree. Oh your baby breath is so sweet. Great idea to add the cardboard. Love your Dad's memorial tree - wow - over 16 feet! What a gorgeous view you have! The chives are so healthy! Love your peppers! You have a wonderful green thumb! Love your flower bed with all the timbers - everything is just beautiful!
Hi! Thanks for stopping by 🙂 Yes we have 40 acres of land so a tractor is needed for various projects. We did have cows but sold them earlier in the year. I have some fun videos with them. I think Lilacs are deer resistant but the deer seem ravenous this year and I didn't want to take a chance. Today my husband made a chickenwire fence to put around the lilac and Kiwi tree so they should be safe. Thanks so much for your nice comments. I appreciate you! 💖

Hi Barby! I love lilac’s so much! I pray this lilac does well and the deer avoid it. Your dad’s tree looks beautiful! I planted a lilac shrub as a remembrance of my niece. We don’t live in an area that they do well in, but thankfully it’s still alive. The veggies and flowers look great! Have a wonderful first weekend of fall 🥰 ❤

Oh my! Lilac is tree is one of my favourite most especially when they started to have flowers. They are beautiful and smells so good ❤ can’t wait for it, my friend 🥰
Hope the dear leave them alone. If I’m not mistaken deers are not interested on lilac tree. I remembered my employer had a lots of lilac trees on their landscape and even in front of the house but the deers never eat them just the other flower and trees and never seen them eating lilac.(i hope that they really don’t🙏)

Hi Yolly 💗 Yes lilacs are supposed to be deer resistant but I'm not taking any chances so I'll cover it at night for as long as I can. This is the second Lilac we've planted so I really want it to survive. Thanks so much for watching my friend. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. 💕

That's right I remember you were there recently. I forgot and thought you meant Vancouver BC. We lived in Western Washington for a long time until we retired to this area.

I really hope it will survive the winter. We planted one when we first moved here but something got to the roots. We didn't have a dog or cats then so hopefully that won't be a problems. Happy Saturday to you too! 🌻🌻🌻🌻

Winter chill:
Lilacs need a long period of cold temperatures in the winter for their buds to mature and bloom in the spring.
That sounds promising to make it through the winter. We cant grow lilacs here because they dont do well in real hot heat. I get so bummed out about that as liliacs are one of my favorite flowers. Hope you have a nice evening.

These are nice little trees but won't the deer just snack on them?
The deer did snack on the maple and kiwi tree so I put the sheet over the lilac tree at night-lilac trees are supposed to be deer resistant so eventually I’ll leave the sheet off. Thanks for watching! 😊🌳🦌
