  • Cleaning and painting the block and all parts takes time, but it pays off when the engine is completed.

Love the videos. For core plug punch a hole through the inner curve and use a large Allen key and extender pipe to prize out the plug. Easy with the engine out but harder when its in place.

Great solution on the valve guide fitting. Kind regards, Richard.

Elin, after watching you painstakingly remove those freeze plugs and with the benefit of hindsight I think most of us would agree to “leave those ones in as they clearly are there to stay” ha ha! Good episode buddy 😊

other way to remove the core plugs is drill a small hole, screw in a self tapping screw then use your slide hammer on the screw

You know Elin, I'm glad I don't do this stuff any longer.. It's much easier to watch you and shout at the screen, which only offends the misses. Looking forward to seeing the next stage while in the background, I'll have Johnny Cash singing "Burning Rings of Fire".

What you called 'freeze plugs' are actually 'Core Plugs' as that is where the cores for the water jacket were located in the mould for the block. They were then machined to take the steel plugs. They did also act as freeze protection but the primary role was to plug the core holes.

Elin, for cleaning ask jake to invest in a dry ice machine! so that you can also use it for yourself ;)

LOL I wish, but we do not do enough engines to invest in anymore equipment.

    Hi Elin,
With the engine lock plugpulling; have you tried running a course-treaded screw and banking it out with a clawhammer?

Generally when you hone the cylinders wouldn’t you apply a thin coat of oil to prevent oxidation? Great tutorial once again, thank you Elin!

Easier to drill those frost plugs and lever them out.

Why don't you check the skirt cleaners? I'm sorry, but it seems very unusual to me that you. Would you bring this point out
