Thanks for the info man. Just filled out an app tonight, as I don't have anything to do over summer and figured I could make a bit of money while I'm at it.
@@walterestridge6088 good just stay calm, it's just questions. Make sure u don't stay quiet when answering or it will seem like you aren't prepared. Just greet them with a nice attitude and show that you're responsible but easy going as a person 👌🏻 good luck man
Don't worry. Most of training is sitting and watching videos. Then you should betaken from station to station to get a feel on how to do every job. Just ask questions if you need to and take it slow.
I really want to work at a movie theatre for my first job. Just to get involved with film a little more. Then when I get enough money I'll go on to film school 😁.
Thanks for this great video. Excited for my interview at AMC next week. This was very educational, and helped me understand what to expect. Appreciate it.
Thanks a lot man👌 got a group interview this Monday and this helps a lot with understanding their wants and needs. I feel like I’d be a good fit for the position so I hope they take me in, wish me luck🙏🏼
Only job I was worried about (position) was concessions then I realized the amc I applied to is a Dine In so concessions is literally just taking orders and then we have cooks in the back so I’ll be fine regardless
Just found out I got the job and I'm super excited! This video helped me so much and really gave me an idea of what I need to do :) Thank you for making this video!!!
Homero Pinal My interview was for an AMC. They asked some pretty standard questions like "have you ever had bad service somewhere? If you did, what would you have done better to improve the experience." Also they asked where I see myself next year, what the company should know about me, and how I felt about the AMC Stubs Loyalty program. Hope this helped, best of luck if you're looking for a job
I worked there for nearly 4 years (quit this past Oct) it's laid back most of the time, but the wages are low and they keep increasingly adding on work. Your GM can make your break your experience, and no matter when you work, there is no real way to avoid him or her. They better like you too if you ever want to move up.
I’m just worried about messing up somebody’s order, burning the popcorn, stuttering, not looking like a dumbass in general. How do you get over the feeling that your being judged/watched constantly?
Wow i'm extremely late getting to this one. Sorry dude. Ignore this if it doesn't apply to you anymore. But often when I was doing concession I would get overwhelmed when there was a ton of people (I mean multiple sold out shows and lines backed up to the entrance). Moments like that I would take a quick walk to the back and take a breather if i wasn't directly on a register. It can get very hectic on nights like that. And trust me it's easy getting people's order right. Just don't get too stressed and try to keep a level head. If you stutter just laugh it off, everybody has done it at some point. If you mess up someones order (won't happen frequently but it will happen at some point) just apologize and correct the mistake. If they want to make it an issue just call your manager to talk to them. Your manager should understand if he's not an asshole or if it wasn't like a major major mess up (dont drop something on the ground and then give it to the customer). Just take it easy and if you really cant handle concession just request they put you on usher, box office, or podium and concession as a last resort.
AMC was my second job it was part time but they had something called flex schedule when I started so I figured out that I put in that I was unavailable for the weekend so I was scheduled for the weekdays then I always got called in for the weekend to get 40 hrs
Basic interview questions. What interests you about this job? What are your strengths and weaknesses? Tell us about a time you overcame an obstacle at school or in the workplace. Tell us why we should hire you. The best thing to keep in mind when answering these questions is to A. Tell the truth of course B. Try to use an example. Ex) What are your strengths and weaknesses? "Well a strength of mine is that I'm a persistent learner. I may have a hard time grasping certain subjects or topics but I dont give up. I continue to work at learning said topic. For example, in school I started learning Spanish. Although I started out doing poorly in the class I didnt let that set me back. I continued to work at it and over the span of a semester I raised my grade from a C- to a B+ and to this day I am still working to see my grade in Spanish rise to an A." Using an example or telling a story to go along with your answers lets the interviewer know you've put thought into the interview and also helps you stick out in the interviewer's mind. Make sure to paint yourself in a bright light. Even when answering a question like "What are your weaknesses", make sure to include, on the tail end of your answer, how you can and will overcome your weaknesses. Other interview tips, dress for success. I'm not saying wear a suit to a movie theatre interview but make sure you look sharp like the job is really important to you. Keep the examples and stories short and sweet. You dont want to start rambling. Hit the high points, emphasis certain things and then conclude the story. They need to know the general situation and how you overcame it. Things like the exact time/date, who was there exactly, etc dont matter. Be calm, be collected, be confident. Its ok to be nervous but you need to show the interviewers you can handle yourself. If you stumble over some words youre not going to lose the job, but you want to go in and show youre in charge of yourself and youre not easily intimidated. This is a job at a movie theatre, they'll go easy on you. Don't expect any wild questions like "Walk us through how to operate a popcorn machine", the only questions you should receive should revolve around you and your experiences and whether youll be a good fit for AMC. Thats usually how most first interviews go for almost any company, big or small. Hope this helped and I hope you do well on your interview!
Really Jayden it went soooo bad it was most definitely a learning experience I didn’t even see that comment until now 😂😂. This past summer I had an internship with the ymca so I guess me not working at the amc helped me find this opportunity of growth that I am thankful for.
I dont know but you can ask a manager if it would be alright if they just put you on one job. Although they trained me for every job they eventually had me doing mostly usher with a little concession thrown in every now and then. If you go for the job, I hope you get it.
I don't know if you can go to any AMC. At the time i worked there the only AMC was the one in my city, so i dont have much experience with that. And at my AMC they didn't allow it on sold out movies or movies that looked to sell out. The way it worked was, if you call right before you head up there, they'll tell you if it's ok or not. 99% of the time it was ok, the only time i really couldn't go see a movie was if it was a blockbuster like a Marvel movie. But if you wait until the following Monday or weekday in general you shouldn't have any problems.
Also amc here. You can go to any movie that isn't sold out or in danger of selling out. Sometimes they have midnight employee screenings, sometimes the studios outright forbid it, but most cases they like us having knowledge of the movie, helps us sell it to a guest.
I don’t know if you might know that answer to this but I’ve really wanted to apply to work at my local amc. Are they always hiring like most corporations or do you know how I should go about applying?
Best thing you can do is drive up there and ask for an application or ask how you can apply. After you apply I would recommend going and talking to a manager ever few days to let them know you're interested in the job and ready to work. Make sure they know your name. Good luck.
Honestly that really depends on the manager thats in charge of hiring. But one thing my mom taught me is to bother them about it (not annoy them but just call up there and ask or drive up there and speak to the manager). The main reason i got the job in the first place was because i constantly called and asked about the job while giving them my name or driving up to the AMC and talking to the manager about the job. Don't be afraid or unsure (not saying you're either, just putting it out there) about being aggressive while pursuing employment.
Sorry to get back to you so late, when I tried applying to the Rave (currently AMC) they wouldn't hire me because i didn't have consistent transportation (i.e. my own car and license). But that's just my experience in my city. It's very possible they wont care where you're from. If you decide to apply i hope you get the job.
I started my training when it was still Rave Motion Pictures, but everywhere I've worked has been paid training including the Rave. Most businesses pay you for training so im sure AMC will too.
