When your entire customer base tells you your printers will not stay on line as coded, you need to revisit your code and stop telling your users to ctrl-alt-del the printer. It will always work if you power it off then back on or if you turn off it's wifi and reconnect it. Every device in the house reports the printer offline. IT'S OFFLINE! It's not a problem with the desktop, laptops, and phones, it's a problem with your printers!! OWN IT and FIX IT. Be a responsible company. Or lose your customer base. If this isn't fixed in the next month with my printer. I will never buy an HP product again.
@@HPSupport This only fixes the problem for that session. The printer is connected and within 8m of the mesh network router. If I leave it on for 3 or 4 months, at some point in that time period it will drop offline and not reacquire the connection to the wireless network. I don't know if it tries for a set number of minutes and then gives up, or what is happening but your reacquisition process needs to be more robust. Thanks for responding though.
HP printers are notorious for this offline problem. You can have your printer connected to with the printer cord, or wireless. It wont matter, follow their instructions (which are a joke by the way) like a monkey but it usually boils down to having to reset your printer every time you want to use it (and even that fails to work half the time). I'm convinced that it's a hardware glitch with sleep mode. Everyone likes cheap electronics, but honestly do yourself a favor and buy a different brand. The only thing HP printers are good for is making more E-waste.

I just spent days fighting with an Epson printer after months of trouble free service and returned it to the place of purchase (kudos to them) for the same connection problems. Both Epson and Microsoft tech support failed to resolve the issue, and that was after hours of my own time searching, resetting, reinstalling and regretting. Today 'unplug & plug it back in' worked.
Nothing works and my printer is always saying offline even when it says it’s connected to the internet on the actual printer. Had nothing but problems since I bought it. Absolutely none of these options work and I’ve tried everything

Turns later - STILL DOESNT WORK and I can’t contact a human. Progress my A*se. Customer “service” my A*SE! If ran my business this way I’d not have a client left.

@@HPSupport Thank yoyu for the quick follow up. Unfortunately, the guide doesn't seem to fix the issue. The "HP Smart" software is simply unable to connect to the printer even though it's actually online (I can access the printer configuration page using browser). In like maybe 1 out of 3 restarts I could get it the print, otherwise, I need to keep restarting. I have no idea what "HP Smart" is doing, and the connection to the printer from HP Smart when printting is very frustratingly slow.

None of the online help worked for me but I prayed and found something that did! I was having an issue with ALL private network stuff (Evident by File Explorer > Network being blank, plus an inability to set up file sharing). I stumbled upon a fix that just might help some of you too. Basically I reset the network adaptors to factory settings. Go to Settings > Network & internet > Advanced Network Settings > Network Reset > Reset now. Follow the directions which will include a restart of your computer. Be sure to consider the consequences to your system setup, like if you have a VPN. For me, though, suddenly everything worked again. Oh, and I'm running Windows 11.

I am about done with this BS, I am also tired of "talking" to a virtual assistant. HP makes enough money to have actual support people. The instructions are garbage and do not fix the problem. I have moved house and now have a new internet connection. No way to get the printer to connect via wifi to a new IP address. The router is in a different room so no option to use a cable. I have followed every instruction but nothing works. Now today I get a message to say that my printer model will not be supported with spare parts etc. I'm done. I have always had HP but now it seems as though there are no fixes and no customer support. You would think there would be an option in the HP Smart App to sort out the wifi connection, but obviously that would be too simple. Time to change brands

Have finally sorted it. Thought keying in the pin code that the printer offered up had sorted it - but only temporarily. Pushing in the router wifi button too long didn't sort it. So tried pushing it in for literally just 2/3 seconds and that did it. A green wifi light showed on the hub and all OK since. I have other issues now, that the printer will not let me scan anything from the machine itself - I have to do it from the laptop. Also, even though I'd just put in brand new inks, it took an age to print out the copies of my documents I was scanning; stuttering and freezing till eventually churning out a page. But each one took over 30 seconds. Good job I only had 8 pages of docs to print. Absolute garbage machine - it's been crap ever since I bought it. If it's not saying there's no paper loaded, when there is, it's beefing about some other non existent issue. Wish I'd stuck with Canon - I never had issues with my old machine.

@@HPSupport S/N CN17E9V38J HP 41055E. How do I uninstall & install or go back to factory setting the 1st time I used it. It's only printing icons & serial num. I had an HP printer that lasted for about 8 years. This one is no good.
Thanks for getting back to us, I'd request you to perform a reset on the printer. Kindly do the following: 1) Turn on the printer, if it is not already on. 2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent. 3) With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the printer & wall. 4) Press the power button for 30 seconds. 5) Wait for 60 seconds. 6) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector. 5) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on. Note: To make sure the power source functions correctly, make sure the printer is plugged into an electrical outlet and not a power strip or surge suppressor. Let me know! Regards, HP Support

My printer has been saying it’s offline. It goes online for literally one second and then is disconnects. I’ve tried turning it off and on, tried resetting it but nope. I thought maybe it was my laptop so I disconnected my printer from my laptop and now I can’t connect it back. Barely used printer and a waste of money. Never again will I buy.

Mine just stopped connecting to wifi, and nothing will fix it. I can't even see the network settings to check if the password is valid, and the Diagnosis just says that every step "could not be completed" with no other errors. I'm starting to think the printer just died or a component stopped working and I should just get a new one, since there's no useful information at all.

Your fix requires rebooting the printer. This is impractical to do every time you want to print after a few days between printing. The printer should stay connected to the wifi network even when not used for a few months. It is unreliable if every time you go to print you have to turn it off and turn it back on or manually turn off it's wifi and then reconnect it to the network if you haven't printed something in a few weeks or few days.@@HPSupport

1. Diagnose And Fix couldn't find my printer. So, it can't figure anything out. What do I do now? 2. My printer (HP6455e) doesn't have a MAC address label, and hitting the Info button prints a useless page with the serial number, firmware, etc BUT NOT THE MAC ADDRESS!!! I have printed four of these crap info listings. HOW DO I GET THE MAC ADDRESS??? I can look at every device on my network, but have no way to tell if the printer is one of the devices!!! 3. Half the time, the Wifi light is off, and the other half of the time the Wifi light is blinking. 4. My Tmobile Home Internet router has not got a WPS button, and the Tmobile app has no way to enter a PIN number for WPS setup. HOW DO I TELL THE PRINTER THE NETWORK PASSWORD??? HOW DO I TELL IT TO CONNECT TO A NETWORK????

Happens every few months. This is total garbage. This time, nothing will work. Printer shows connected to router. I see the printer on the router list of connected devices. Computer shows it's offline. I've tried all troubleshooting steps twice. Next thing I'm about to do is cancelling my HP account I've been paying monthly on for years.

what a load of crap, i think they turn them off at there end so you cant print, always " Not responding crap" if it's connected to your home wi fi why is it not responding its got to be the desk-jet 2800 software thats not working right, And the website is utter garbage too, slow as hell, no real support only useless whats app then they get back to you 3 days later or when you are out of the house, no real phone support number, why is it always not responding short the glitch in the software out, 3 glitch printers i've had and all the same problem. and the dosgy billing saying you have printed 17 today, how the hell have i done that its not responding ?

Had this problems in windows 11. The solution: Settings>Bluetooth and Devices>Printers and Scanners. Under Printers Preferences, make sure let windows manage my default printer is turned on.

This is an absolute joke. It has been a year and my printer still goes offline whenever it pleases. None of your suggested fixes work either. The only fix I've found is removing and adding the printer over and over.

I had the same problem. I googled this and tried everything that smart asses from hp advise. Absolute bullshit. My printer is connected to the network via Wi-Fi and to solve the problem, just switch from 5GHz to 2.4GHz and that’s it. Now my printer is always “online”, in any mode: on or sleeping. The problem was solved very simply.

I absolutely HATE my wireless 6400 printer. It has caused me nothing but problems from the moment I got it. The ink doesn't work despite buying several brand new print cartridges, the HP Smart App is horrible and I don't have a 'diagnose and fix' icon on my app so what am I supposed to do? No one should buy this terrible printer. My HP laptop is also currently broken. It was sent to the manufacturer for fixing and they sent it back still broken!

De sirve comprarle las tintas a Hp una mensualidad al mes . Why do you make products that require internet connection? It's f**** ridicelous you can't print without the printer being connected to internet and having an account. I remember when HP was still a great brand, now it's dead. I would not personally buy any HP products, but unfortunately some of my friends still do and trying to help them with this s*it to get their products to work is pretty much impossible and takes way too long to solve. This is ridicelous - I hope EU will do something to prevent this E-waste.

When your entire customer base tells you your printers will not stay on line as coded, you need to revisit your code and stop telling your users to ctrl-alt-del the printer. It will always work if you power it off then back on or if you turn off it's wifi and reconnect it. Every device in the house reports the printer offline. IT'S OFFLINE! It's not a problem with the desktop, laptops, and phones, it's a problem with your printers!! OWN IT and FIX IT. Be a responsible company. Or lose your customer base. If this isn't fixed in the next month with my printer. I will never buy an HP product again.

@@HPSupport This only fixes the problem for that session. The printer is connected and within 8m of the mesh network router. If I leave it on for 3 or 4 months, at some point in that time period it will drop offline and not reacquire the connection to the wireless network. I don't know if it tries for a set number of minutes and then gives up, or what is happening but your reacquisition process needs to be more robust.

HP printers are notorious for this offline problem. You can have your printer connected to with the printer cord, or wireless. It wont matter, follow their instructions (which are a joke by the way) like a monkey but it usually boils down to having to reset your printer every time you want to use it (and even that fails to work half the time). I'm convinced that it's a hardware glitch with sleep mode. Everyone likes cheap electronics, but honestly do yourself a favor and buy a different brand. The only thing HP printers are good for is making more E-waste.

I just spent days fighting with an Epson printer after months of trouble free service and returned it to the place of purchase (kudos to them) for the same connection problems. Both Epson and Microsoft tech support failed to resolve the issue, and that was after hours of my own time searching, resetting, reinstalling and regretting. Today 'unplug & plug it back in' worked.

The "HP Smart" software is simply unable to connect to the printer even though it's actually online (I can access the printer configuration page using browser). In like maybe 1 out of 3 restarts I could get it the print, otherwise, I need to keep restarting. I have no idea what "HP Smart" is doing, and the connection to the printer from HP Smart when printting is very frustratingly slow.

None of the online help worked for me but I prayed and found something that did! I was having an issue with ALL private network stuff (Evident by File Explorer > Network being blank, plus an inability to set up file sharing). I stumbled upon a fix that just might help some of you too. Basically I reset the network adaptors to factory settings. Go to Settings > Network & internet > Advanced Network Settings > Network Reset > Reset now. Follow the directions which will include a restart of your computer. Be sure to consider the consequences to your system setup, like if you have a VPN. For me, though, suddenly everything worked again. Oh, and I'm running Windows 11.

I am about done with this BS, I am also tired of "talking" to a virtual assistant. HP makes enough money to have actual support people. The instructions are garbage and do not fix the problem. I can print from my phone and I can print from my one laptop, but my main laptop that I have all my information on keeps giving me the offline message and I keep having to reset my entire network. I have moved house and now have a new internet connection. No way to get the printer to connect via wifi to a new IP address. The router is in a different room so no option to use a cable. I have followed every instruction but nothing works. Now today I get a message to say that my printer model will not be supported with spare parts etc. I'm done. I have always had HP but now it seems as though there are no fixes and no customer support. You would think there would be an option in the HP Smart App to sort out the wifi connection, but obviously that would be too simple. Time to change brands

it never finds your printer when its searching for it, why not when its on your home wi fi ?
Have finally sorted it. Thought keying in the pin code that the printer offered up had sorted it - but only temporarily. Pushing in the router wifi button too long didn't sort it. So tried pushing it in for literally just 2/3 seconds and that did it. A green wifi light showed on the hub and all OK since.
I have other issues now, that the printer will not let me scan anything from the machine itself - I have to do it from the laptop. Also, even though I'd just put in brand new inks, it took an age to print out the copies of my documents I was scanning; stuttering and freezing till eventually churning out a page. But each one took over 30 seconds. Good job I only had 8 pages of docs to print. Absolute garbage machine - it's been crap ever since I bought it. If it's not saying there's no paper loaded, when there is, it's beefing about some other non existent issue. Wish I'd stuck with Canon - I never had issues with my old machine.

@@HPSupport S/N CN17E9V38J HP 41055E. How do I uninstall & install or go back to factory setting the 1st time I used it. It's only printing icons & serial num. I had an HP printer that lasted for about 8 years. This one is no good.
Thanks for getting back to us, I'd request you to perform a reset on the printer. Kindly do the following:
1) Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent.
3) With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
4) Press the power button for 30 seconds.
5) Wait for 60 seconds.
6) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.
5) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
Note: To make sure the power source functions correctly, make sure the printer is plugged into an electrical outlet and not a power strip or surge suppressor.

I have to keep deleting and adding my printer every time I use it, such a nightmare
Tried this and my laptop now doesn't even find it anymore to re-add -_- Always issues with HP printers, its 2023 for Christ's sake.
How did you remove the printer and scanner vs the printer only

My printer has been saying it’s offline. It goes online for literally one second and then is disconnects. I’ve tried turning it off and on, tried resetting it but nope. I thought maybe it was my laptop so I disconnected my printer from my laptop and now I can’t connect it back. Barely used printer and a waste of money. Never again will I buy.

I do not have that little wrench
Mine just stopped connecting to wifi, and nothing will fix it. I can't even see the network settings to check if the password is valid, and the Diagnosis just says that every step "could not be completed" with no other errors. I'm starting to think the printer just died or a component stopped working and I should just get a new one, since there's no useful information at all.

Your fix requires rebooting the printer. This is impractical to do every time you want to print after a few days between printing. The printer should stay connected to the wifi network even when not used for a few months. It is unreliable if every time you go to print you have to turn it off and turn it back on or manually turn off it's wifi and then reconnect it to the network if you haven't printed something in a few weeks or few days.@@HPSupport

1. Diagnose And Fix couldn't find my printer. So, it can't figure anything out. What do I do now?
2. My printer (HP6455e) doesn't have a MAC address label, and hitting the Info button prints a useless page with
the serial number, firmware, etc BUT NOT THE MAC ADDRESS!!! I have printed four of these crap info listings. HOW DO I GET THE MAC ADDRESS??? I can look at every device on my network, but have no way to tell if the printer is one of the devices!!!
3. Half the time, the Wifi light is off, and the other half of the time the Wifi light is blinking.
4. My Tmobile Home Internet router has not got a WPS button, and the Tmobile app has no way to enter a PIN number for WPS setup. HOW DO I TELL THE PRINTER THE NETWORK PASSWORD??? HOW DO I TELL IT TO CONNECT TO A NETWORK????

Happens every few months. This is total garbage. This time, nothing will work. Printer shows connected to router. I see the printer on the router list of connected devices. Computer shows it's offline. I've tried all troubleshooting steps twice. Next thing I'm about to do is cancelling my HP account I've been paying monthly on for years.

Not being able to contact hp through their webpage ("AI" is just a changing of instructions). If anyone is reading after updating windows, my printer shows offline. Reinstalling hp smart did not work. The program seems the printer but not able to connect to it.

This video & HP Support are useless. PRINTER OFFLINE has been a chronic problem for decades. HP just refuses to invest in a real fix. Don't bother with HP (Not So ) Smart ~or~ their Scan Doctor, they just waste your time. Reboot your PCand OFF/ON the printer. HP you are a disgrace!

what a load of crap, i think they turn them off at there end so you cant print, always " Not responding crap"
if it's connected to your home wi fi why is it not responding its got to be the desk-jet 2800 software thats not working right,
And the website is utter garbage too, slow as hell, no real support only useless whats app then they get back to you 3 days later or when you are out of the house, no real phone support number,
why is it always not responding short the glitch in the software out, 3 glitch printers i've had and all the same problem.
and the dosgy billing saying you have printed 17 today, how the hell have i done that its not responding ?

Had this problems in windows 11. The solution: Settings>Bluetooth and Devices>Printers and Scanners. Under Printers Preferences, make sure let windows manage my default printer is turned on.

I had the same problem. I googled this and tried everything that smart asses from hp advise. Absolute bullshit. My printer is connected to the network via Wi-Fi and to solve the problem, just switch from 5GHz to 2.4GHz and that’s it. Now my printer is always “online”, in any mode: on or sleeping. The problem was solved very simply.

I absolutely HATE my wireless 6400 printer. It has caused me nothing but problems from the moment I got it. The ink doesn't work despite buying several brand new print cartridges, the HP Smart App is horrible and I don't have a 'diagnose and fix' icon on my app so what am I supposed to do? No one should buy this terrible printer. My HP laptop is also currently broken. It was sent to the manufacturer for fixing and they sent it back still broken!

Nothing but a bunch of generalistic bs troubleshooting tools that don't actually address issues we have. When ever has a "troubleshooting and fix" tool worked?! Also, if the printer doesn't connect to the computer so how can these "apps" do anything about it?!
The PERSISTANT printer OFFLINE issue has brought me here. I have had this issue when connected with a printer cord and via wireless. HP is garbage! I will be upgrading to a different brand because this sh*t is ridiculous!

De sirve comprarle las tintas a Hp una mensualidad al mes . Cuando la impresora en pieza a dar problemas no le incluyen un diagnóstico para saber por qué no quieren aceptar los cartuchos de tintas que le envían Hp y tienden a cobrar también por el servicio del diagnóstico cuando se le está pagando una mensualidad para que le envíe las tintas . 😡

Why do you make products that require internet connection? It's f**** ridicelous you can't print without the printer being connected to internet and having an account. I remember when HP was still a great brand, now it's dead. I would not personally buy any HP products, but unfortunately some of my friends still do and trying to help them with this s*it to get their products to work is pretty much impossible and takes way too long to solve. This is ridicelous - I hope EU will do something to prevent this E-waste.

Yes, you are correct:
To use the HP Smart application - at this time and for several versions since late 2020 - you must sign into the application using your HP Account.
HP Smart is not mandatory software.
There are other options - each one provides a scan service that does not require that you sign in.
If you are using a computer, install your printer's Full Feature Software (full driver) using the Easy Start wrapper. After the software is installed, the full driver (printer software) includes HP Scan.
You can also use below applications:
1) HP Scan and Capture: Microsoft Store (formally Windows Store) - Requires Windows 8 or higher Download-Save-Install HP Scan and Capture
HP Scan and Capture is a simple and fun application that captures photos or documents from any* HP scanning device or your computer's built-in camera. These images can be previewed, edited, saved, and shared to other applications.
* NOTE: The correct HP drivers for your scanner must be installed from HP's Support Website.
2) Windows Scan - Microsoft Store (formally Windows Store) - Requires Windows 8 or higher
“Get” the application from the Store > Windows Scan
3) Paint (mspaint)
Open Paint
Expand the “white background” area to a size to accommodate your data. If unknown, try 1300x1300
File > Select “From Scanner or Camera”
Select your printer > Follow the prompts to scan and then save your item

HP sucks. They dont even have the diagnostic wrench anymore.
You have to download the scan doctor, which after not performing the checkup, told me to manually fix the printer then run the diagnostics
I wish I have a Brother Printer instead of this piece of crap HP Smart Tank 615.

This does NOT work. This printer CONSTANTLY goes offline for NO reason. HP SMART is useless. The Scan Doctor is useless as well. WHY is this an issue STILL? WHY HAVE YOU OT REPAIRED THIS PROBLEM. I need to print and not troubleshoot this issue over and over. I think it is time for DIFFERENT PRINTER.
