I own one, recon, same price as new, turbo, toyota import version. If you want a car that is comfortable, really comfortable,by all mean,go for this Harrier. Recon has no GPS and I have to install radio myself.
Thank you for your review bobby, i just collected my harrier last week, the full spec one, mine does not come equipped with dash cam or smart tag , smart tag was offered for rm3xx , unaware of the dash cam, and tonneau cover you have to pay 1.5k for it also pay 1k for option of HU with gps, you have to try the auto high beam headlight during night.. you will absolutely love it, dont know how to explain but its an awesome mechanism, there are 3 projectors on each lamp, under normal driving it only light up one on each lamp, and dark road it lights up another which is projecting to the sides , and lastly 3rd one is blasting to furthest distance, it will compensate or switch accordingly depending on the vehicle infront or opposite direction, drive like a boss from kl to johor at night, i like the power delivery of the car smooth like NA seriously, its not those sluggish type like C200 where you have to step on the accelerator then it does not respond and suddenly gives you the aggresive power , also my harrier when i drive @ 150kmh the actual GPS from waze is only at 140kmh is it only my harrier , or same goes to all harriers? the speedo at 100kmh is actually 92+/- in my waze, like the speed 10% off from the actual, did not encounter with other car before. no i did not upsize or downsize my rims all stock standard. glad that i stick and waited for the harrier, not looking for fancy stuff just looking for reliability but does seem abit overprice that depends on every individual.
Volvo is high maintenance car. Certain parts like wheel sensor don't always work when you change the faulty ones. Then again if you buy a Volvo you pretty much have the budget to maintain it. Don't buy just for the sake of luxury. Their keyless sucks big time ☹️
talked to quite a number of people regarding this car: results are not surprising ( to me at least) 1. ALL of the chinese say they would rather buy merc or BMW cause of the badge. They say 250k for toyota not worth. Recon better. 2. indians and malays share simmilar views that the car is specced nicely but a bit priced to high. No comparisons to conti cars were mentioned
Hi Bobby, In term of build quality and NVH, does this car better than Proton X70? Because u mentioned in ur previous video saying that the X70 is much better than CX5 and is on par with GLC. Thanks
@@BobbyAngmalaysia thanks for your reply Bobby! Nice... my W205 rear seats really subpar in my opinion. Long distance journey is not exactly comfortable. Shortlisting this Harrier for 2019!
Hi bobby, have u had any issues with the gearbox at low speed ? Bcs i have that problem, sent to toyota they said gearbox is ok. When slowing down it jerks a little bit. Just wondering what’s the problem actually.
Only recently Harrier come with included GPS infotainment, car camera recorder and smart tag? I received my car in April this year but I didn't get any of these, even the boot cover is a top up option also.
I dun mind payin 230k+ even if we can afford 2nd or recon merc/bmw. Cuz i'd believe maintenance would cheaper. But i'd wish the speedo would go more than 180 though.
I heard they are putting the 2.5T engine from the CX-9 into the CX-5. It won't be a fair comparison if you are looking at the power/torque department. This Harrier has only a 2.0T.
thanks again for your informative review Bobby, love the demo of the adaptive cruise control. in terms of size how does this harrier compare to the xc40 and xc60?
Really value for money if compare to BMW spec spec like the Harrier. Actually I was discussing with my wife about the Harrier but I also love the new X3. This could be the best choice replacement for my work car, economy for this year not that good and this Harrier seems the best value for money with its dynamic cruise control and RM240k+ is a good buy to me personally. My wife also given me thumbs up for this vehicle and no need to buy from grey importers because of the warranty given by Toyota. Finally the back seats can recline to around 40 degree are probably the best compare to Merc and BMs.
a toyota with a turbo..lovely..more toyota models should be turbocharged.. the gear lever seem to be in the way of the aircon controls..or does it really?
4:47: did you say 150km/h? It is supper loud in most SUV at that speeds. The new RAV4 fits my outdoors life style more but I really enjoy quiet ride and second hand Harrier in Japan will fit the budget. Let me know please how is Harrier on longer journeys: noise and comfort wise. Good video ;)
Hi bobby ..what do i lose in terms of driving comfort and dynamics compared to the recond harriers from japan compared to the official version from toyota?
The new camry 2.5 in australia (same spec as malaysia later) that i drove before too jerky when adaptive cruise control is on. 6 speed gear box is a big NO.
Cheapest car to have reclining rear seat I think is the Tiguan. It is shocking how many luxury cars don’t have this feature. From what I know, only S class, 7 series sedan size sedans have reclining seats. I think even the BMW X5 doesn’t have reclining seats.
Actually the Harrier feels more comfortable. It's less capable in the corners but i think that's the advantage of not attempting to make it sporty at all. It's tidy in corners and comfortable that's it. :)
Bobby Ang thank you so much for answering my question, im sorry i’ve just noticed recently that you replied my comment when i re-watch this video, because somehow youtube didnt give me the notification right away back then.
None out there are as easy to operate as Volvo's. And Volvo's you felt adaptive cruise control is just one of the features of its advanced system, whereas this and the one in the 6GT feels like it's already all that they have up their sleeves.
I rather have the blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic and 360 camera than some of the safery sense features. I bought the 2nd gen Harrier in 2004 new (at RM245k) and still running as a every day car. So disappointed with X3 on the exclusion of safety features at the premium SUV price point.
same! I've been wanting to change my car yet it's so hard to find SUVs that can exceed more in terms of comfort and design. The only problem for me is the fuel consumption. Hahaha telan a lot of money for a student like me.
in msia, it is called Lexus NX. other countries still got the toyota badge. to me, it is the same thing, but it got a Lexus badge and more air bags etc
XC40 younger, handles wayyy sharper, more lifestyle. This is comfortable. Both powerful but XC40 can be driven more aggressively (outhandles an X2). Safety features wise, no one beats Volvo la. Both are damn worth buying
Funny thing is, it's of course not as teutonic as the X3, but new German cars are also trying hard to shake off that unique German car sturdiness and heft. The Harrier doesnt handle as well of course, and the ok-ish infotainment when compared to X3 is like comparing some OEM phone to iPhone. But this car surprised me more than i thought it would. Put it this way, Toyota puts 100% effort in this. BMW puts maybe 80% of their engineering might on the X3 that we get.
an x3 would be dynamically superior..but i believe harrier would be more reliable for the long run..if budget is a non issue than go for the beemer hehe
If only this Harrier is a 7-seater, I'd buy it without hesitation. I'm not aware of any luxury 7-seater SUV at this price point. Looks like I have to settle for the KIA Sorento 😕 Any advice, Bobby?
No la in the video it looked better for him/her cos it is super wide angle, in real life the car is just less than one length in front of me. A bit scary but i prepared my foot on top of the brake pedal

hey bob is the harrier turbo acceleration faster than macan 2.0?
Bobby. A question if you don't mind. Would you rather have this or topup a bit and go for CX9 instead?
CX9. But you will have to live with a gigantic car. And as a 7 seater, the middle row wont be as comfy as the Harrier's second row
