- While returning back to school for the spring semester, I was aware that New Jersey Transit's newest bus, New Flyer XD60 20801, would be most likely working route 39 Newark to Irvington. Having gone out of class early enough, I went to Downtown Newark to go scope it out. I managed to catch it on Broad Street at 9:40am and again on Raymond Blvd at 4pm. Enjoy!

The Future of NJ Transit Bus Operations
The future of NJT (New Flyer XD60 #20801), with it's predacessor (Neoplan AN459 #9538) following right behind. Fitting shot showcasing the new bus, and the old bus that it will be replacing.
Not a big fan of the NJ Transit Livery but it looks good on the XD60 with a Symmetrical Roof.
Nice one! Gonna ride them soon it actually looks cool seeing them and then a neoplan to just show up. It shows the difference in technology.
Awesomeness!!
I live there 👍😁
Will they ever go to New York City Port Authority Bus Terminal too
Calvin Crews Yes on select lines like the 126 or 159

Is this a case of them having no choice but to buy a low floor since high floor artics are no longer made?
An2nio Transit Productions Almost all transit agencies have been buying low floor buses since the 2000s. NJT was one of the few exceptions to still buy new high-floor buses in the late 2000s with the 1000+ unit order of NABI 416s. It’s just this decade they’re starting to buy low floor buses like the 31-LFW in 2012 and the XD60s. The NABI replacements this decade are more than likely to be low floors too, probably XD40s.

Yeah unfortunately. Unless they buy the Eldorado XHF buses. There are really no more high floor options available. It's sad. I know NJ Transit would have kept buying high floor if there were models out there. Since they favor comfort over saving seconds going u two extra steps.
An2nio Transit Productions i never minded going the 2 extra steps because i’ve ridden countless school buses

Exactly
I just don’t get the big fuss over it that busses have to be these low floor uncomfortable things now.
Even if the bus is late because of the wheelchair lift. Then that is why it’s late And I am perfectly fine with that. I value comfort over saving a few minutes.
