I'll do my best to try to mske it yo that 25k goal. I started at 370 i just hit 500 this week on robinhood. That took me a month, but i made 70 bucks this week only trading about $150 each time cause I didn't feel i got it down yet.

Joined Warrior Trading about 4 months ago, I'm an aspiring day trader. I'm more confident than ever, have been doing really well and now I know that this will be my career. The ability to buy my mom the house she deserves and for her to never have to work again. I have to gradually work my way into it, I know im gonna be a millionaire one day. Just have to keep grinding for it. Anybody can do this you just have to be focused, disciplined, and have the right influences/teachers along the way to do it. i am currently a pro student and active army in Korea. doing everything at night is a struggle but i am about to retire and want to do this full time and not wake up any more at 0500. There is much anxiety making this move but the classes the trading on paper has helped tremendously and has taught me how important it is to have rules and set levels of risk and understand FOMO as it takes hold of you. I feel i am a slow learner but hopefully will be able to become more consistent to trade a cash account and transition to this as i retire from active duty in December of this year. Thanks for keeping it real. i have watched many other traders online but you seem to me the most grounded in explaining the finer aspects of trading.

Hey Ross, been thinking a lot about this topic of “as a business” since you posted it, so thank you! One area that could be covered as it’s own topic is TAXES. Short term Captial gains rate takes ~40% of your earnings and none of your losses (except first $3k). So one must have a strategy, and you have one, you mostly trade in your ira tax free. However i bet most newbies like me do not

I had some profit last year, 2020, and I am on the hook for a 37% capital gains tax. Could I start a business and report the profit as business income instead? Would my taxes be any less? Is that even possible given that the broker sent in tax info to the IRS under my name. Thanks

One, I just purchased the Warrior Starter and making my way through the learning material. Having a business & finance background makes a lot of the material easy to understand (big difference between trading and understanding finance 😉)
Two, is it possible to open a brokerage account with a LLC and trade?
I think TD allows this. Still learning...
All i have to say is this year has been a fluke of a year. Broke the 6 figure club 3 times but gave one back on learning, and trust me when you see tens of thousands start disappearing you either wake up and go forward or freeze and get trampled by the market. thanks to you and a rare few others I've learned to discipline my entire trading strategies.

I could envision you expanding your training to include Tax strategy as an important topic to the overall business strategy. How to keep more of the 40%!!! As a disclaimer I’m a newbie, i haven figured all this out yet, i just know taxes can literally kill me (ok my business) if not dealt with in advance. In fact many newbies who are barely profitable could wind up with a HUGE irs tax bill next year.

you said you started with 500 day trading but how did you overpass the 3 day trading rule ?
Hey, As you may know the United States has what's called the Pattern Day Trader (PDT) Rule. That means you need a minimum of $25,000 cash balance in your broker account in order to day trade more than 3x in a 5 day period. Since most traders take 3-5 trades per day, they are considered Pattern Day Traders. Many of our new students don't have $25k. There are brokers that are based off shore that do not adhere to the PDT rule such as Trade Zero (non-US only) and CME Group. Im about to start my 4th week of day trading. I was 50/50 win loss ratio my first week before knowing anything back testing the with what i had in front of me. Was up $70. My second week i had hit a couple big trades one @ 47% gain on my $1000 account My 3rd week would have been similar to my second had i not started emotionally trading and over trading! Plus i messed one up by going into a low liquidity penny Stock! So i lost all my profits. Almost wish i had lost money to start vs winning because this is what i was afraid of happening which apparently you have a similar story involving more money! Im currently broke even trying to tighten up my stop losses and still debating on using a simulator even though im not dependent on this 1k the emotional aspect is very real! You are the second guy i started following who is real and i wanted to say thank you for all of your content and God bless! 🙏👍

(Oops i posted too quick lol). Anyway, i will be trading under my LLC so my earnings will be taxed as ordinary income, not short term capital gains, and losses net against earnings. In addition, the section 475 mark to market declaration provides important benefits too, avoids “wash sale rule” plus more. So my point is that i def agree with you, day trading should be treated as a business and as such one must have a tax strategy. I mean roughly 40% will be taken away if you don’t deal with this, obviously that’s a material issue for any business right?
Hi Hank, short term capital gains are taxed at the ordinary income bracket. Some could argue LLC income is also subject to self employment tax, depending on your other sources of income and how you pay yourself etc.
Im planning to work multiple part time jobs to earn some money to start this business while paper trading to learn and ofc after i wach every video u post .

As much as you promote light speed and you being as big of a UA-cam as you are in this space your broker should not be charging you commissions especially when there are platforms out there that don’t charge any commissions period
Even if they give a discount it’s kind of a slap in the face with as much business you bring their way

Thank you very much. Thus, one needs good capital to have substantial returns. However, losses are significantly low. I think I will love to look much into stocks day trading. My problem is the starting capital and the right stock for high return in a short time.

I have been trading since 2016 and learned from watching CNBC for vocabulary then going and UA-cam videos on the things I heard.
I didn't start day trading until about 8 months later after learning the psychology of stocks and how the market over reacts to certain situations. Over time I came up with rules. If it doesn't fit my rules, I don't trade it.
Consistent gains. When I started I would just go for 3%/day which was extremely easy and safe.
Don't be greedy. THIS WILL BE YOUR GREATEST DOWNFALL. The reason MOST day traders fail.
In 2018 I "retired" from my job as massage therapist and have become a Digital Nomad traveling full time trading. ANYONE CAN DO IT. It just takes you really wanting to learn and it is SUPER FUN !!!

I was wondering if anyone has ever mentioned to you about doing a small account challenge on a mobile device. I usually work 10-12 hours daily and don’t have access to a computer during that time. I have been watching videos, trying to learn how to trade but I feel that being on a mobile device is a big shortfall. Any tips would be great. Thanks.
I trade mobile also. I use 2 cell phones. One for charts (thinkorswim app) and one for L2 (TD Ameritrade app). It is VERY difficult, but possible with longer hold trades and swing trades. To buy and sell as fast as Ross does is impossible on mobile. I said all that to say yes it's possible, but if you take a bad entry, you're screwed. Can't just turn around and sell extremely quick. I prefer to scale in on mobile to help mitigate risk on the entry since I'm using a cash account.
Many have suggested that, I might do it at some point, but I don't think it would really make a lot of sense just because anyone trying to trade as much as I do would use a computer.
Warrior Trading I have also been wanting to take your course but due to my work schedule I wouldn’t be able to attend. Is there a way to get the course and do it at my own pace?
@@justinsayge2906 If he doesn't respond to your message, you should send an email and ask if the course is still on-demand. When I took the pro course in 2018 it was on demand which helped me a lot because I was able to study/watch the videos 10-15 hours on the weekends.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide any tax or LLC related information. Such questions will depend on your individual circumstances. I recommend reaching out to a local CPA in your area to get more information. All CPAs should be knowledgeable about trading transactions, but be sure to confirm if they have dealt with these kinds of situations before.

What strategy do you use in your retirement account, swings/value investing? I assumed you practice typically low risk(still looking to beat %10) in that account, with moderately long term timeframes 3-6mnths, basically still using technicals/fundamentals, but maybe looking at blue chip equities that are value strong, but also on longterm trends that are near strong support and now you can set you signals and leave it...sorry just picking your brain.

Ross, what do you believe the annual "cap" is for trading small cap stocks? Do you think you are close to hitting your business model's full potential? Or do you see it being as much as $1M+ / year? hey Brian! I haven't had a $1mil year yet, but I've heard of traders who have, so I do think it's possible in a really good year. But I do think unless I'm willing to increase my risk profile and take larger positions for longer hold times, I will be difficult for me to make a lot more than I'm making now.
