The equipment spawn on drop is how power weapons were in Halo 2. I remember that one of the biggest skill gaps in H2 was understanding what time you dropped a weapon and calling it out. If you memorized the time, your team could be the ones to control it the whole game.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve died to my own nades bouncing off of uneven terrain and coming back to me.
In the same game I:
- had a saving throw that stopped the carrier in One Flag CTF
- died when I tried to bounce a frag through a doorway and had it stick to some kind of runner in front of the door 3 feet in front of me
Totally wild.

I believe Extraction dropped the ball by not having two sites to extract at all times, like it was for casual Halo 4. The biggest reason it was changed to one site back in H4 Throwdown was because it was supposed to be a replacement for Hill; Hill had a big glitch where if you and other teammates stood in an incoming hill, you could double, triple, or even quadruple points in hill time until you left the hill. They should try two sites, see how it plays

On LAN the sidekick has no issues but online the gun is so inconsistent and it verifies heavily on ping from a god gun to useless.

I agree with your opinions on the Aquarius changes. Seems like OS should be in the most open area with the most angles to shoot at on the map, not down mid on a singular side of the map. Also that Heatwave being a weapon rack instead of a pad in the middle of the floor bothers me lol.
However these placements do remind me a lot of some Halo 3 maps, where OS was off to the side.
Only power ups/power weapons spawn on the ground.
@@tomb4250 not true. In Forge you could spawn any weapon on a weapon pad. Even on Solitude the Shock Rifle spawns on a weapon pad and it is not a power weapon.
Making the os spawn in the middle would effectively make it pointless, look how fast someone can shred it, often you can't even take a 1vs2 with it. By making it spawn at the center, even if you menage to take it without dying like in live fire before, you would end up with no OS in a matter of frames.
Starboard had the same problem, catalyst as well.

25:18 For Recharge, the old Energy Sword platform could be a Bulldog platform. Bulldog has some outplayability to where it's not super oppressive but still offers a power advantage.

Not sure why hcs removed the sentinel beam on streets or why it couldn't be added in place of needlers. (like on recharge) doesn't seem strong enough to be overpowered and adds some nice weapon variety.

Disruptor is a powerful weapon, 3 shots and a melee is kill. Like h3 plasma rifle type role
comparatively though is just has no real role ...id love to see the damage over time become AoE and a faster projectile speed
@@billylion3073 it is aoe, maybe an increase to that aoe damage. It is significantly less than the initial shot. How the AOE works, and is visualized by arcing to enemies near your target. You can also slightly shoot around corners using that gun if the surfaces are metal or there’s a gun laying on the ground you can shoot those and it will arc to any nearby enemies! Kind of cool, although the AOE is weak.
3:53 I have to disagree partially about the double-jumps in Solitude, not necessarily for the tech itself but because it's a Solitude-only tech. I like the idea of doing walljumps like this and IMO it'd be way cooler if this were something you could do anywhere. Solitude as a map just seems kind of sloppily designed from a technical perspective with all the collision hulls (especially all of them layered together on that one big chunk of rock like you pointed out)
I have a bit of an issue with the double jumps being hidden and only discoverable by either trial and error or forensically analysing the map in Forge. Other tech has clear visual cues… you can see weapon boxes, door frames, curbs during play. I know there are other hidden lips but generally they’re in spots where I’m already like “can I get up there with the perfect jump or right equipment?”. The double jumps aren’t intuitive like that.
I don’t like how there almost taking every weapon in the game out. The sandbox is shrinking way too much. Ranked is becoming extremely dull with every update. There needs to be more weapons added period

I'm honestly liking a lot of the changes to Ranked, some things I like more than others, but all in all its not bad.
I do think it might be interesting to have a second Grapple on that back C plat where repulse used to be, or even a Threat Seeker or something, since there's so many angles and corners on that map to bounce it around, I do also think the Repair field would be an interesting aspect into Ranked.
Just my thoughts though.

i like the idea of having BRs as the main choice for secondary pick ups. i know the evo has a faster ttk but the BR is still king not a huge fan of camo being on live fire. i too enjoyed the idea of having to either give up obj for that overshield and having to block or disrupt the spawns for it. i only ever used the sidekick on Aquarius when it was CTF. shockrifle on solitude is a meh for me but i can see why they took the sniper off that map. great video as always and thnks for the hard work!
maybe a 2 way teleport to shock or bat ledge on recharge for high risk flanks or even a 1 way teleport to the top pillar in whirlpool
16:08 Live Fire used to have Active Camo and not OS during the flight tests sometimes. The spawns ~were~ random.
Ive been having a blast since dark season 1, not having internet for the past 3 months with all these updates has me crying 😭 I cant wait to go negative kd again
I deeply miss the sidekick being on many of the maps. Glad it's still on Live Fire. It shreds at close range and is so fun to use. And I DEEPLY DEEPLY miss the repulsor on Recharge. So many skillful uses and even the obvious use of knocking people off the map was fine by me too. Just lower the ammo amount it. Instead of 3 repulses per pick up. Make it 1 or 2. Also miss the Heatwave on Live Fire as well. Loved that thing. It was inconsistent online though. Supposed to be a 1 shot beat down and 2 shot kill. Alot of times it would be a 2 shot beat down and 3 shot kill in vertical fire modes, even with all the shot landing on target.

On recharge, the empty sword spot needs to be a shotgun or heatwave. Give a reason to go there, helps break setups based around “white/ control/ A, and is balanced away from the other side of the shock rifle
I’m immensely disappointed with the lack of map pool changes. Playing Live Fire six times straight is not fun. Wish they’d test and add Sylvanus to the playlist to take some weight off of some of the launch maps. They hyped up Forbidden as a the new comp map and I’ve barely played it.
- Rockets really need to be on at least one more map
- Still want beam over bulldog on streets
- Not a fan of aquarius changes... seems like a mess of pickups. I do get the idea behind thruster and it could work, so not against that. But overshield could be overpowering on this map even with the pp counter.
- Repulsor's live fire spawn is great, can be very useful off spawn
- Seriously miss repulsor on Recharge and hope it gets added back. Maybe its timing/range for grenade deflection could've instead been restricted, though that could get complaints from the casual crowd. Shroud screen is cool on this map too though.
- Still want commando reversion
-Would like skewer on one map, eventually. 3 shots and a "rockets-sniper compromise."

Live fire's probably my favorite changes. Aquarius' overshield or recharge's repulsor removal is my least favorite change.
Needler is broken in the new networking model(in my experience) They're probably about to fully roll that out, and didn't want it breaking ranked matches. I had to completely avoid the it while they were testing the networking on squad battles.
Extraction is a bomb defusal mode (Counter-Strike), the fun of it is the fact that parts of the match will be unbalanced. That's the intention.
If you to lose the objective, you have to get good-er in order to win. If you secure the objective, you have to focus to not lose the advantage.

I love this game but after this season it might feel empty from so many removals. I like the dynamo grenades and the repulse is part of what makes the game fun especially on Live Fire. No heatwave on Live Fire is dumb too. Empty maps…

I think repulsor should still be available on recharge replace it with grapple. Make Camo QT and keep shroud and now we have a really fresh meta on recharge lastly put sword back in its original spawn.
i like the idea of a 2 way teleport to say under shock or around there super high risk to use but if the timing is right crazy flanks

The bulldgo is still the least satisfying and most inconsistent weapon in Halo Infinite
There are so many easy and interesting ways to rebalance Extraction by changing timers so I hope they do that instead of throw it out completely. If you have a gametype where no one is restricted by the objective like in KotH/Oddball and can defend with a 4-man setup, I don't think that's inherently bad, you just need to make sure the initial extraction much harder so the point feels earned. It should take a long time to extract such that teams only attempt to go for it at all after a clean team wipe or with a full setup able to defend the guy extracting. Right now, you can extract so ridiculously fast that even just a couple kills can buy you enough time, and the point moves so quickly that teams are incentivized to not attempt conversions because if they die and get a bad spawn, the other team will already be on the next point converting before they are even contested.
Also, instead of having the point be converted from one team to the other immediately, it would work way better if there was an intermediate step. You should have a really fast defuse timer (about as long as the current extraction timer maybe), which would help in a few ways. This makes it so the team who extracted needs to have a really tight setup because even staggered deaths could give the opponents enough time to defuse, but also it forces the defending team to pay much closer attention to the point and keep it in their sightline at all times to prevent sneaky defuses. Once the point is defused, then it is once again free for either team to extract.
The last thing needed is a mechanism so that points don't get converted back and forth. The simplest solution is probably to just decrease the time needed for the extraction to complete after each cycle. So on a team's first extraction it takes 45 seconds, the second takes 40 seconds, etc. You can still have hype defuse/conversion battles going back and forth, but it won't be like in some of the games I've played where neither team can hold the damn point, and then the game goes to time without hardly any scoring.
I think personally they should abandoned weapons and make them op but like 3 min cool down. Like the magnum old shotgun and more(ce)
Live fire & streets are the best changes. With streets number 1. Streets needed this change. Good job fighting for these cool angle points. They need to stop taking out , these advantage points for movement a d ninja set ups.
Another killer video Alex. Would love to hear you address some of the claims that SirDimetrious made recently that Halo has a low skill gap. He made them in a recent video he uploaded which is getting quite a bit of views. Overall it's an excellent video with amazing editing but I believe his assertion on the skill gap is way off base. In my personal opinion Halo has a low skill floor so that anyone can pick the game up and have a great time but the skill ceiling is almost limitless. Thanks for all you do Alex!

He's getting low skill floor confused with a low skill gap. Those are two different things. Halo has an immense skill gap, but a low skill floor.

Or a sword, actually. Just rework it so it's less OP, maybe less range and/or less ammo. Weapons like the Sword and Needler are what differentiates Halo from any other shooter, it's really just cool to watch as a fan

I’ve noticed with less snipers on Argyle, not as many flags are being capped
I don't mind sidekick being removed cause it was a little strong and pretty much a stronger version of commando. Will help make commando shine a bit more. Also Disruptors I've always found to be a great camo counter; the auto fire and the bullet magnetism made it easy to hit camo players. The maps that feature disruptor now though don't have camo anymore though so I'll probably not touch it much.
they should have a portal in recharge where the sword was that would be cool that takes you to batteries

I'm really sad they removed the sword and now the Needler. Those were two of the most iconic Halo weapons, and it basically makes the green gun the only iconic Covenant weapon in the game... From a spectating stand point, it really just makes Halo less Halo-y. Especially now that they don't spawn with the BR - though I'm glad the BR is still present and viable.
They really should bring back at least the sword (reworked if need be) and/or the Needler.

The jumps are skillful to perform, benefit player expression in several ways, map flow and look and feel satisfying imo

Shock instead of sniper on plaza should be illegal. I’m on board w the large majority of changes but we needed less shock, definitely not more.
okay idk if its just me, but I'm on a decent PC, 2070S, i713600, 16g; and hit reg/desync are still just rampant. 240 hz monitor, system runs game at 240+ fps on ideal performance settings but blank shots and blank melees constantly. The A flag room on Solitude causes my game to go absolutely batshit - bunny hopping and teleporting. Anyone else have any of these issues? or am i going insane
I like firefight and customs. Ranked is not for me so I don't play it much, but ranked is good I think.

If these updates are really good, I'm thinking of coming back and earning onyx rank once again. The game is fun, no doubt. But it grew stale for me after grinding so much😅
imo most maps should have 1 great short range & long range weapon per side. so h5 pistol/br. i'd even like for thrust to spawn at the bases on aqua. I don't agree with taking shotgun out of competitive as its been a competitive weapon staple since h2.
since this update, i'm getting a noticeable net gain in FPS on every single map!!
Honestly putting the sword in place of the bulldog would be fun. Or put it where the repulse used to be.

i guess the sidekick removal from almost every maps is due to the fact is the utility weapon with the lower optimal ttk in the game, with only some power weapons having a lower one in comparison, plus the fact bloom is still an rng mechanic (yes, commando still there, i know).
as for thruster and drop walls gone by almost or every maps... grapple and repulsor does the same and kinda play around the heavy rotational AA a bit more, while thruster was just a gotcha equipment, probably thea weakest one, thanks to RAA, while drop wall was a weaker repulsor that could block one bullet.
overhaul i'm happy about the changes, just because at least maps feel a bitt different after 2 years of playing the same stuff, but i'm pissed the more we go, the more the sandbox and mechanics are removed from comp... maybe is time 343 start to break some design ideas from bungie's era and tun the sandbox to be both competitive and balanced, while fun in socials?

like that they ditched the needler, wished they kept the sidekick, prefer the heatwave over bulldog for its long-range potential, would rather see Stellur popping off with the S7 over the shock on any map. What rly worries me is that it took so fucking long to fix these issues and there probs won't be another big update to ranked in the near-future. A bunch of stuff, like those dumbass boxes that superbounce you, objectively need to go. And I wanna see new maps!

The shock isn’t considered a power weapon. Why it doesn’t red rack. It’s not on a tier 3 yellow pad
